The last full moon of 2024 will be at its brightest in the night sky on Nov 15. However, in some parts of the world, like North America, Nov 16 would be the best time to view it. The full moon of November is commonly called Beaver Moon, although it has other names as well.
The Beaver Moon will be the fourth consecutive Supermoon of 2024. The first supermoon rose in August and was called Sturgeon Moon. In September came the Harvest Moon followed by Hunter's Moon in October. A Supermoon happens when the Moon is at its closest point to Earth. This position is called the perigee where it appears big and shines bright.
November's full moon is known as Beaver Moon because this is when beaversstart building their winter dams in the northeastern US, according to timeanddate.com.
The November full moon is also known as the Frost Moon and Snow Moon. This is because it coincides with the start of the winter season in North America, bringing colder temperatures with it. The Anishinaabeg people, a group of Indigenous peoples in the Great Lakes region of Canada and the United States, call the August moon "Baashkaakodin Giizis". According to the Center for Native American Studies, ittranslates to the "Freezing Moon".
The moon will be at its peak at 4:28 pm ET on Nov 15.

However, the time it rises in the east right after the sun sets in the west is when it presents itself in the best way. This won't happen on Nov 15 in North America since the full moon will rise way before sunset. So people in this region will have to wait for moonrise on Nov 16, about 20 to 30 minutes after sunset.
The moon won't be alone on both nights. As you gaze at it on Nob 15, look towards the lower left side. Here you can spot the sparkling Pleiades open star cluster, also known as the "Seven Sisters". Their position will change on Nov 16 when they will be on the moon's upper right.
The last and final full moon of the year will rise in December and is known as the Cold Moon.
