After Guatemala decided to open its embassy in Jerusalem, Paraguay said it would also open its embassy in the holy city just days ahead of the opening of the US embassy in the region.
President Trump in December had recognised Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and had decided to move the US embassy to the area which is disputed by the Israeli's and Palestinians.
In March Guatemala's president, Jimmy Morales had said his country would be moving its embassy to Jerusalem on May 16th, two days after the US opens its embassy.
"Paraguay President Horacio Cartes plans to come to Israel by the end of the month to open an embassy in Jerusalem," Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Emmanuel Nahshon said.
A Paraguay government spokesman said President Cartes was scheduling a trip to Israel to move the embassy on May 21 or May 22.
Meanwhile, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas expressed concern over other nations opening embassies in Jerusalem, saying he hoped other nations in the American continent will not open their embassies in Jerusalem.
Earlier, 128 countries in the United Nations had voted against recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Isreal, despite this Israeli PM Netanyahu had said several countries were "seriously discussing" on opening their embassy in the holy city.
