Iraq officials on Sunday sentenced 19 Russian women for being a part of the terrorist outfit Islamic State, reports said.
The head of Baghdad's Centra Criminal Court which deals with cases related to terrorism, said that women were foing guilty of "joining and supporting IS."
Six women from Azerbaijan and four from Tajikistan were also condemned to life in prison Sunday on the same charge.
The women, who have the right to appeal against the sentences, stepped in court one-at-a-time all dressed in black headscarves and pink blouses, most of them accompanied by their children.
Most of the women on trial Sunday claimed they were tricked into going to Iraq.
On April 17, three women, including two Russian citizens and one French national, were sentenced to life in prison over their membership in the notorious terror group.
