With the help of some OGWs in Pahalgam, they did a recce of all the tourist places of Pahalgam like Aru Valley, Betaab Valley, Amusement Park and Baisaran Valley. In this recce, two local terrorists and five OGWs were involved and were roaming in Pahalgam for about a week.
They initially planned to attack in the Betaab valley, but it was difficult to escape from there because of the movement of security forces around. Something similar happened with the Aru valley which is after the desperate valley and they reached the Baisaran tourist spot.
There were a total of four terrorists, who killed 26 people in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam last week. Two among them were wearing camouflage and the other two were in civilian dress. The sources also revealed that only three terrorists came inside the Baisaran meadow and the fourth one was giving cover fire.&nbsp;
Moreover, a senior Army source said that there were reports that "some suspicious persons had visited some hotels in Pahalgam...(We) were gathering clues as there was no specific information about attacks on tourists."&nbsp;
Army officials said the infiltrators in Pir Panjal mountains in south Kashmir were using several apps for navigation and communication "that can store data online and later use it offline as well", as per WION sources.&nbsp;
As of now, police continue to raid and interrogate suspects in Kashmir Valley. A senior police officer said they had started a fresh verification of non-locals, including laborers, students and employees, who are present in Kashmir.

"I appeal to the Governor sahib, please do not be cruel to us. We have not committed any sin. Please let us live here. If not, then kill us and send our bodies across the border," she said while crying.&nbsp;

Following this, the Indian government announced that Pakistani nationals will not be permitted to travel to India under the SAARC visa exemption scheme. Another terrorist’s house blown up as crackdown intensifies after Pahalgam terror attack

The Jammu and Kashmir Police continued its crackdown on the terror network in the Union Territory and arrested two terrorist associates from Kulgam on Saturday.&nbsp;
Kulgam Police, in a joint operation with the Army and CRPF, arrested two terrorist associates and recovered arms and ammunition from their possession.&nbsp;
During routine checking at a checkpoint established at Matalhama Chowk Thokerpora, Qaimoh, two terrorist associates identified as Bilal Ahmad Bhat, son of Abdul Salam Bhat, and Mohd Ismail Bhat, son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, both residents of Thokerpora, Qaimoh, were arrested.

After the search, the police recovered arms and ammunition, including 2 pistols, 25 pistol rounds, ⁠and 2 pistol magazines, from their possession.&nbsp; A case under relevant sections of law has been registered at PS Qaimoh, and an investigation has been initiated.
<h2>Hideout busted in Machil, huge cache of arms seized</h2>
Meanwhile, in another operation, a terrorist hideout was busted in Machil, and a major cache of arms and ammunition was seized.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a joint operation was launched on Saturday by the Special Operations Group (SOG) Camp Machil and the Indian Army&rsquo;s 12 SIKHLI unit in the forested area of Sedori Nala, Mushtaqabad Machil of the Samsha Behak forest region, falling under the Kupwara Police Station and Police Post Machil, a press release from Jammu and Kashmir Police said.

Shah was the only local killed in the attack. Reportedly, the terrorists were choosing their targets after asking them about their religion and making them recite an Islamic verse and then killing 26 people.&nbsp;
Notably, Shah was the only breadwinner of the family, which includes his elderly parents, wife and children.&nbsp;
His inconsolable mother wept at the loss of her son and was also worried about the family's future.&nbsp;

Shah's father Syed Haider Shah told ANI, "My son went to Pahalgam yesterday to work, and around 3 pm, we heard about the attack. We called him, but his phone was switched off. Later, at 4.40 pm, his phone turned on, but no one answered. We rushed to the police station, and that's when we learned that he had been shot in the attack. Whoever is responsible must face the consequences."

Reportedly, the terrorists were choosing their targets after asking them about their religion and making them recite an Islamic verse and then killing 26 people. Notably, Shah was the only breadwinner of the family, which includes his elderly parents, wife and children. His inconsolable mother wept at the loss of her son and was also worried about the family's future. The family has now appealed for justice. We called him, but his phone was switched off. Later, at 4.40 pm, his phone turned on, but no one answered. PM Modi condemned the attack on tourists and vowerd that those behind the heinous act would be brought to justice.&nbsp;
"They (terrorists) will not be spared! Their evil agenda will never succeed. Our resolve to fight terrorism is unshakable and it will get even stronger," PM Modi said in a post on X.&nbsp;
He also conveyed his condolences to those who lost their loved ones in the terror attack.&nbsp;
The tourists said that the attackers seemed to be targeting Hindu tourists. &ldquo;Three to four people attacked us. I told them &ndash; kill me too, you&rsquo;ve already killed my husband. One of them said, &lsquo;I won&rsquo;t kill you. Go tell this to Modi&rsquo;,&rdquo; one of the tourists recounted.
Eyewitnesses said the attackers came out of the thick pine forests surrounding the area and started shooting at civilians, triggering chaos and panic.

US President Donald Trump expressed condolences, saying that the US stands strong with India against terrorism.
"We pray for the souls of those lost, and for the recovery of the injured. Prime Minister Modi, and the incredible people of India, have our full support and deepest sympathies. Our hearts are with you all," he said in a post on X.&nbsp;
Trump is also scheduled to talk to PM Modi regarding the attack in J&amp;K, White House press secretary said.&nbsp;
Russian President Vladimir Putin extended his condolences in a statement and said that "this brutal crime has no justification whatsoever."
"Kindly accept the sincere condolences over the tragic consequences of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, whose victims were civilians &mdash; citizens of various countries. We expect that its organisers and perpetrators will face deserved punishment. I would like to reiterate our commitment to further increasing cooperation with Indian partners in fighting terrorism in all its forms and manifestations," he said.&nbsp;
Ukraine has also issued a statement and said that it is deeply concerned over the attack on tourists at Pahalgam, J&amp;K. "We endure the loss of life from terrorism daily and firmly condemn terrorism in all its forms. When innocent people are murdered, it brings unbearable pain. The perpetrators should be held accountable," it said.

"Everyone was aiming to get out as quickly as possible. It was chaos," he added.&nbsp;

"My only goal was to get us out of there and to safety. We&rsquo;re now heading back, as the doctor advised her to take complete bed rest,&rdquo; he said.&nbsp;
The couple explained that there was an estimated 4000 to 5000 people were gathered there, including tourists and small children.&nbsp;
&ldquo;We didn&rsquo;t turn back or look at who was firing. We were just focused on getting out of there alive,&rdquo; the wife said.
