Terrorist group al Qaeda on Sunday (March 5) confirmed that a senior member of the jihadist group in Yemen has been killed in suspected air strikes, said SITE Intelligence Group.

AFP reported citing security and local government sources that Hamad bin Hamoud al-Tamimi had been killed. The sources identified him as a top leader of al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP). The United States regards AQAP among al Qaeda's more dangerous branches.

Tamimi, a Saudi also known as Abdel Aziz al-Adnani, died in a drone strike on February 26 that targeted his residence in war-torn Yemen's northern Marib province, according to the statement reported by SITE, which monitors jihadist websites.

The statement identified Tamimi as a "media official" who "previously managed external operations in the group, including those striking American interests".

AQAP said Tamimi spent nearly four years in prison in Saudi Arabia before traveling to Yemen in 2013, where he expressed a desire to attack "vital" American interests and carry out a suicide attack himself.

The sources, requesting anonymity, told AFP Tamimi had headed AQAP's leadership council and acted as the militant group's "judge".

SITE said the Al-Qaeda statement had noted another media official, Abu Nasser al-Hadhrami, was "a victim of the attack".

AQAP and rival militants loyal to the Islamic State group have thrived in the chaos of Yemen's eight-year civil war, which pits the Saudi-backed government against Iran-allied Huthi rebels.

Al Qaeda says top leader killed in strike in Yemen

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested six people, including members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, in nationwide raids. These arrests come during NIA raids at 76 locations across eight states to bust the known terrorist-gangster-drug smuggler nexus.

The six people arrested by the NIA include Lucky Khokhar aka Denis, who is a close associate of Canada-based 'designated terrorist', Arshdeep Singh aka Arsh Dalla. Others arrested in the raids, which were carried out in Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, NCR, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh, include associates of gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi, Jaggu Bhagwanpuria and Goldy Brar. 
 
Khokhar, a resident of Bhatinda, Punjab, who was nabbed from Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan, on Tuesday, was in direct and frequent contact with Arsh Dalla in Canada and had carried out recruitment for him and received funds from him for carrying out terror-related activities. He had provided arms and ammunition to Arsh Dalla's associates in Punjab on his directions, which were also used for carrying out the recent killing in Jagraon, Punjab on Dalla's directions.

NIA had registered a suo-moto case on August 20 last year against seven people, including Harwinder Singh aka Rinda, Lakhbir Singh Sandhu aka Landa, and Arshdeep Singh aka Arsh Dalla. One person, Deepak Ranga, was earlier arrested in the case by the NIA.

According to an NIA spokesperson, Khokhar was working for Dalla, who has been involved in smuggling arms, ammunition, explosives, IEDs etc. across international and inter-state borders in India for several Khalistani terror outfits, including the Khalistan Liberation Force, Babbar Khalsa International and International Sikh Youth Federation. 
 
Besides Khokhar, the NIA also arrested Lakhvir Singh, a resident of Gidderbaha, Muktsar, Punjab; Harpreet, a resident of Nihal Singh Wala, Moga, Punjab; Dalip Bishnoi, a resident of Bishanpura Abohar, Dist Fazilka, Punjab; Surinder aka Chiku&nbsp;Chaudhary, a resident of Mahendragarh, Haryana and Hari Om aka Titu, a resident of Gurugram, Haryana. 
 
While Hari Om aka Titu was arrested on Tuesday, Lakhvir Singh was nabbed a day later on Wednesday in connection with a case registered against them and their associates in August last year for allegedly attempting to motivate and recruit youth for terror activities by using social media.

They were also using social media to 'publicise' their crimes in a bid to create fear among the general public. Nine weapons were recovered from Lakhvir's possession. He is a notorious criminal and an associate of Chhotu Ram Bhaat, who was arrested earlier. The NIA has so far arrested nine accused, including Kaushal Choudhary, Amit Dagar, Sukhpreet Singh, Bhupi Rana, Neeraj Bawana, Naveen Bali and Sunil Balyan, in this case. 
 
According to the spokesperson, Surender Chaudhary and Dalip Bishnoi&nbsp;are known associates of gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Jaggu Bhagwanpuria and Canada-based criminal, Goldy Brar.

They were arrested for raising funds, recruiting youth and carrying out terrorist acts on behalf of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. This case was also registered by the NIA in August last year and 10 accused, including Lawrence Bishnoi, Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, Kala Jatheri, Kala Rana, Joginder Singh, Rajesh Kumar, Raju Basoudi, Anil Chippi, Naresh Yadav, and Shahbaz Ansari have been arrested.

The spokesperson said Surinder Chaudhry&nbsp;was arrested on Tuesday for attempts to murder and extortion and also faces several cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) Act. He has been involved in illegal liquor contracts, smuggling and extortion from liquor and mining contractors in Haryana and has been one of the main financers of terror-gangster syndicates.

Dalip Bishnoi, who was arrested on Wednesday, is a habitual criminal having 13 cases against him. He has been one of the main financers of this terror gang and was providing logistics support to the gangs in Punjab and Rajasthan.

The NIA investigations have also revealed that many criminals, who were leading gangsters in India, had fled to countries like Pakistan, Canada, Malaysia, Philippines and Australia and were planning their terror and criminal acts from there, in association with criminals lodged in jails in different states. These groups were carrying out targeted killings and raising funds for their nefarious activities through smuggling of drugs and weapons, hawala and extortion. Further investigations are on to dismantle such terror networks and their funding and support infrastructure.

Lawrence Bishnoi gang members among 6 arrested in NIA raids against gangster-terrorist nexus

Four terrorists were killed during an encounter on the outskirts of Jammu in India, the police authorities said on Wednesday. The forces intercepted a truck in which the terrorists were travelling and all four of them were killed in retaliatory fire. The police also said that the truck caught fire during the gun battle and they were able to recover arms and ammunition from the vehicle.

"There was unusual movement of a truck in the area. Police stopped the truck at a check post. As security forces started searching the truck, terrorist hiding inside fired at security forces. All the terrorists were killed in retaliatory fire," Mukesh Singh, Additional Director General of police, said.

While the terrorists were all killed, the truck driver was able to escape and the police told reporters that they are conducting search operations in the nearby villages. The ammunition recovered from the truck included seven AK rifles, one M4 carbine, three pistols and other weapons.

Earlier, the Jammu police was able to defuse a 15 kg improvised explosive device (IED) in Udhampur to avoid a terrorist attack. According to PTI, the official statement said that it included “cylindrical shaped IED, 300-400 grams of RDX, seven 7.62 mm cartridges and five detonators”.

One person was detained with the police recovering a coded sheet and letter pad page belonging to the Lashkar-e-Taiba militant group.

Four terrorists were killed in two different operations in south Kashmir today. Two operations in south Kashmir’s Anantnag and Awantipora districts were carried out by security forces leading to the killing of four terrorists. As per Police records the killed terrorist was linked with proscribed terror outfit HM and was involved in several terror crime cases including attacks on Police/SFs and civilian atrocities, “ said ADGP Vijay Kumar.&nbsp;

There was one more story encounter in the Khandipora area of Awantipora in which three terrorists were killed during the operation.&nbsp;

“In the ensuing encounter, 03 terrorists were killed. Among the killed terrorists, 01 is a foreign terrorist and another one is a LeT terrorist commander identified as Mukhtar Bhat while the identification of the third killed terrorist is being ascertained. As per police records, all the killed terrorists were involved in several terror crimes including killing of 01 ASI of CRPF &amp; 2 RPF personnel. Home Minister Araga Jnanendra said on Monday the police have also detained his "accomplices" for questioning.

Police sources said Lashkar has been booked under various sections of Indian Penal Code, including one for waging a war against the Government of India.

"He's an extremely radicalised youth. We worked out together with various agencies. He has been arrested and a case has been registered against him. The investigation and interrogation is on to unearth whether (he had links) with any of the organisations," Bengaluru Police Commissioner C H Pratap Reddy told reporters.

"He was working as a delivery boy. Other details will come out after the investigation," he said, adding, police were working with various agencies and got inputs about his activities.

"Details cannot be shared but the fact (is) that an FIR has been registered and the person has been arrested. There is enough evidence collected regarding the radicalised youth in Bengaluru,"&nbsp;he added.

CCB sources further said Lashkar had fled north India and was holed up in the city.

After his arrest, the CCB produced him before a special court, which remanded him to 10 days' police custody.

Sources said an accomplice of his has also been arrested, though the police did not confirm it.

Jnanendra lauded the police for their action. The minister recalled that the Bengaluru police had recently arrested a terrorist from Jammu and Kashmir at Okalipuram in the city.

Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested two terrorists of Lashkar-e-Taiba identified as Talib Hussain of Rajouri and Faisal Ahmed Dar of Pulwama. The arrest was made in Reasi area of Jammu region. According to BJP Spokesperson, Talib Hussain was an active member of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and was also in-charge of minority morcha social media in Jammu. The BJP says open online membership is the reason as there is no background check done on these people. BJP also says that Pakistan has a new Modus Operandi to put these terrorists in political party offices.

"With the arrest of Talib Hussain, a new issue has come up, the terror organisations across the border in Pakistan are hatching a new conspiracy. By entering the BJP, gaining access and doing recce is to make a plot to kill the top leadership. The Police have busted the module which has come from across the border by those who want to spread terror. Anyone can become a member of the BJP online. I'd say this is a drawback since there is no system to check the criminal record or antecedents of the people who are taking membership online," said R S Pathania, spokesperson, BJP.

Jammu and Kashmir Police said that these two terrorists were caught by villagers of Tukson Dhok while they were taking shelter in the area. Police also recovered two AK-rifles, 7 Grenades, a pistol, and a huge quantity of ammunition from their possession. Jammu and Kashmir Police had declared Talib an absconder and reward was announced for him ten days ago after a terror module was busted in the same region. Police says that Talib Hussain was in constant touch with LeT terrorist Qasim based in Pakistan and was involved in at least 3 cases of IED blast in Rajouri District besides in civilian killings and grenade blasts.

"From the last few days, we were searching for Talib Hussain in the Rajouri area of Jammu Region. We had recovered 5 IEDs from the residence of Talib Hussain. We were constantly looking for Talib Hussain and our search was going on in the area. Areas in Rajouri and Raesi were searched. During the search operation, he reached the higher reaches in the area where they were trying to take shelter. We had declared a reward on Talib Hussain. People saw them moving in the area, which looked suspicious as they were carrying arms and bags along. People showed courage and caught them despite these terrorists having arms and ammunition and could have done anything to them," said Mukesh Singh, ADGP Jammu.&nbsp;

The government of Jammu and Kashmir has awarded the villagers for their bravery. State has rewarded them with 5 lakh rupees while Jammu and Kashmir Police has given 2 lakh rupees to the villagers for catching the terrorists. The Lieutenent General of UT of Jammu and Kashmir Shri Manoj Sinha has also applauded the courage of villagers and said that with this kind of determination shown by the villagers, the end days of terrorism is not far.

However, the political parties across India are pointing fingers at BJP, as this is the second incident in recent time where someone Like Talib Hussain, an active LeT terrorist connected with handlers across the border was also having close connection with BJP.

While congress has taken strong exception to the presence of dreaded terrorists in the ranks of the BJP and asked the ruling party to explain it to the nation how the dreaded terrorists have been enjoying its patronage by getting important assignments in the party. The People's Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti has also commented and said that all criminal elements in the society are associated with the BJP.

"One of the murderers of Udaipur case whose name is Riyaz was associated with BJP. His pictures are all over with leaders from BJP. The same way, Talib Hussain has been arrested, he is a LeT militant and was in charge of BJP's IT Cell. It seems all the criminal elements in the society are associated with the BJP. They get these people to do work which leads to communal tensions. The killing in Udaipur, which was so inhuman, the killer is a worker of BJP. The cow vigilantes who killed the Muslims were garlanded by BJP," said Mehbooba Mufti, Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir.&nbsp;

The security forces have started the investigation in the case and are looking at possibilities of other people in the mainstream political parties.&nbsp;

Around 16 security personnel and 19 civilians lost their lives in various terror-related incidents. Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested 46 active terrorists and 192 over-the-ground workers were also arrested this year in the Kashmir valley.&nbsp;

Earlier, Jammu and Kashmir Police and security forces killed three terrorists of proscribed terror outfit LeT in an overnight anti-terrorist operation in South Kashmir’s Pulwama District including the killer of police personnel Reyaz Ahmad.&nbsp;

“In the ensuing encounter, three local terrorists of proscribed terror outfit LeT were killed and their bodies were retrieved from the site of encounter. They have been identified as Junaid Ahmad Sheergojri of Gadoora Pulwama, Fazil Nazir Bhat of Drabgam Pulwama and Irfan Ahmad Malik of Arabal Nikas Pulwama.” said Vijay Kumar.&nbsp;

One Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist killed in Srinagar encounter

One terrorist has been killed in an ongoing encounter in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district. Security forces had a tip-off about the presence of terrorists in the Drangbal village of Pulwama. Forces lead a cordon and search operation, and during the search, terrorists fired on security forces resulting in a gun battle.&nbsp;

“01 terrorist killed. Operation going on. Further details shall follow.” said Jammu and Kashmir Police.&nbsp;

In the last 24 hours, this is the second encounter in the Kashmir Valley. Earlier, one terrorist of Hizb ut-Tahrir was killed in the Kulgam district.&nbsp;

&nbsp;“Acting on specific information generated by Police regarding the presence of a terrorist in village Khandipora village of Kulgam, a joint cordon and search operation was launched by Police, Army 9 Rashtriya Rifles and Central Reserve Police Force 18 Battalion&nbsp;in the said village. In the ensuing encounter, a categorized terrorist identified as Rasiq Ahmed Ganie resident of Shouch Kulgam of proscribed terror outfit Hizbul Mujahideen&nbsp;was killed and his body was retrieved from the site of the encounter,'' said Jammu and Kashmir Police.&nbsp;

As per police records, the killed terrorist was involved in several terror crime cases including attacks on&nbsp;police/security forces and civilian atrocities.
