'It's a live broadcast!' Kamala Harris's embarrassing slip-up during hurricane briefing goes viral

Kamala Harris, US Vice President and Democratic Party presidential nominee, is in hot water after trying and failing to be discreet on a live broadcast.
On Wednesday, during a briefing on Hurricane Milton, Vice President Kamala Harris was caught on a hot mic, reminding someone off-camera that the session was being broadcast live.
Netizens were quick to slam her for allegedly taking help from someone off camera, with many bringing up her supposedly microphone fitted earrings.
What happened?
Harris was participating in the briefing remotely while National Weather Service Director Ken Graham was discussing the potential flooding risks from the hurricane when she had her awkward moment.

Appearing to have got distracted by something or someone behind the camera, Harris tried to be discreet, raising her hands to partially cover her face and muttered, "It's a live broadcast," into the mic.
Shortly after, Graham concluded his update, but Harris quickly followed up with a question, seemingly showing she was still engaged with the content. She queried Graham about the language used to describe the storm.
"Hey Ken, I have a question for you," she chimed in.
"You mentioned words matter, and – um –I know there is a lot of – um – media following this briefing. So, there have been – um – we’ve gone from a [category] five to a [category] four, and the language that a lot of folks have been using is 'downgrade,' but it sounds like you're cautioning us that that may communicate a sense that the danger is lessened, when, in fact, it’s not. Can you talk a little bit about that?"
Internet reacts to Harris's oops moment
Harris's oops moment on camera led to reactions on social media, with some likening it to comedic political gaffes seen in "Veep", HBO series.
Nonetheless, she returned to the topic of the briefing and urged Florida residents to take the storm seriously. Hurricane Milton later made landfall near Siesta Key, Florida, as a Category 3 hurricane.
The vice president's office has not yet commented on the hot-mic incident.
