Iran rebuffs west’s appeal of not launching retaliatory attack against Israel

Iran on Tuesday refused to heed calls from the West to drop its plans for retaliation against Israel for the assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh, which occurred last month in Tehran.
Haniyeh was killed on July 31 during his visit to the Iranian capital. The Islamic Republic and its allies hold Israel responsible for this unfortunate incident, while Israel remains silent.
Iran has vowed to avenge Haniyeh's death afteran Israeli attack in Beirut resulted in the death of a Hezbollah leader, a militant group supported by Iran. Western diplomats aim to de-escalate the situation in the Middle East, given the ongoing chaos between Israel and Hamas in Gaza. A retaliatoryattack by Iran was anticipated this week by both the West and Israel. To ensure stability, the United States has sent an aircraft carrier strike group and a guided missile submarine in support of Israel.
Nasser Khan, Iran’s foreign ministry spokesperson, criticised the call from the West, stating, "The declaration by France, Germany, and Britain, which did not object to the international crimes of the Zionist regime, brazenly asks Iran to take no deterrent action against a regime which has violated its sovereignty and territorial integrity."

The drill will take place from 7:30 pmto 8:30 pmlocal time (1600 to 1700 GMT) in Iran’s Gilan province on the Caspian Sea to boost the defensive readiness of the army’s naval forces.
The military drill, the second in three days, comes at a time when Iran is expected to retaliate against Israel.
