Steve Wozniak, Apple co-founder and a widely respected authoritative voice in the tech world, has said content created by Artificial Intelligence should be labelled. He was speaking with BBC when he said AI can be used by "bad actors" to make scams harder to spot than before. Wozniak also called for regulation of the AI sector.
'Woz' as he is known in the tech world, signed a letter in March that called for a six-month global pause on the development of powerful AI systems. It was argued that powerful AI systems posed a risk to humanity. Other signatories to the letter included Tesla chief Elon Musk, among others.
“AI is so intelligent it’s open to the bad players, the ones that want to trick you about who they are,” Wozniak told BBC.
Artificial Intelligence refers to a computer system that can perform functions that usually require human intelligence. The issue came to the fore globally last year after the launch of ChatGPT, the generative AI tool developed by OpenAI which can write extremely detailed texts based on input prompts.
Wozniak said he did not believe AI will replace humans because it lacks emotions, but he opined that scammers may be able to trick people more easily as they would easily use these tools to use intelligent, believable language.

“A human really has to take the responsibility for what is generated by AI,” said Wozniak.
He spoke in favour of the regulation of AI. But he doubted that regulators will get it right.
“The forces that drive for money usually win out, which is sort of sad,” he said.
