<p>The case perplexed the doctors as several reports published in medical journals mentioned instances of a child swallowing small, button-style batteries.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"The deliberate ingestion of multiple large AA batteries as a form of deliberate self-harm is an unusual presentation," the doctors reported.</p>

<p>In the most common cases of battery ingestion among kids, the batteries can sometimes pass through a child's body without causing damage. However, if they get stuck in the throat, they can cause severe and even life-threatening injuries, according to UCSF's Benioff Children's Hospitals.</p>

<p>This is because saliva kick-starts an electric current in the trapped batteries, spurring a chemical reaction that can burn the esophagus and can lead to severe tissue damage and bleeding.</p>

<p>"The potential of cylindrical batteries to result in acute surgical emergencies should not be underestimated," the case report states.</p>

<p>In the woman's case, an X-ray revealed that the batteries in her abdomen did not appear to be obstructing her gastrointestinal (GI) tract and no batteries showed signs of structural damage.</p>

<p>After a week of observation, the doctors performed laparotomy on the woman, in which surgeons made an incision to access her abdominal cavity. They found that the stomach, pulled down by the weight of the batteries, had become distended and stretched into the area above the pubic bone</p>

<p>They then cut a small hole in the stomach and removed the batteries from the organ.</p>

<p>“This afternoon, we were contacted by a lady from Natternbach because blind passengers had settled in her luggage on her Croatia trip,” says the FB post.</p>

<p>New York Post has reported that there are plans to send the animals to Croatia, their native country.&nbsp;</p>

<p>This is reportedly the third case of Croatian scorpions ending up in Austria. A woman in Linz found a scorpion in her apartment last month. The scary part is that the woman had been home for three weeks after her trip abroad before she discovered the scorpion.</p>

<p>A 26-year-old female cop is drawing a lot of attention in Pakistan. Not only because she is employed in a profession that is considered “manly” in a male-dominated country, but also because she belongs to the minority Hindu community.</p>

<p>Manisha Ropeta has become the first woman from the minority Hindu community in Pakistan to become a Deputy Superintendent of Police. She had cracked the coveted Sindh Public Service Commission exam to attain the top post.</p>

<p>Stating the reason why she joined the police forces, Ropeta was quoted as saying, “Women are the most oppressed and the target of many crimes in our society and I joined the police because I feel we need 'protector' women in our society.”</p>

<p>Ropeta, who belongs to a middle-class family from Jacobabad in interior Sindh province, wants to end the preconceived notion that girls with a good family background should not have anything to do with the police or district courts.</p>

<p>“From childhood I and my sisters have seen the same old system of patriarchy where girls are told if they want to get educated and work it can only be as teachers or doctors,” Ropeta said.</p>

<p>Though she is currently under training, Ropeta will be posted in the crime-infested area of Lyari, according to PTI news agency.</p>

<p>She feels that working as a senior police officer really empowers women and gives them authority.</p>

<p>Though she had aspirations to become a doctor initially, there was one turning point in her life that made her choose a different career.</p>

<p>“I had failed to clear MBBS entrance examination&nbsp;by one mark. I then told my family that I was taking a degree in physical therapy but at the same time I prepared for the Sindh Public Services Commission examinations, and I passed that getting 16th position among 468 candidates,” she added.</p>

<p>Her three other sisters are all doctors and her youngest brother is also studying medicine.</p>

<p>“I want to lead a feminisation drive and encourage gender equality in the police force. I myself have always been very inspired and attracted to the police work,” the DSP says.</p>

Meet Manisha Ropeta, the first Hindu woman top cop in Pakistan

<p>A 21-year-old American woman was allegedly gang-raped by her “guide” and his accomplice in Pakistan’s Punjab province, prompting condemnation from the US embassy.</p>

<p>According to police, the crime took place on July 17 at a tourist resort Fort Munro in Dera Ghazi Khan district, about 500 kilometres from Lahore.</p>

<p>The victim —a vlogger/social media influencer —was on a trip along with her social media friends Muzamil Sipra and Azan Khosa to make a vlog.</p>

<p>Police said that the American woman had come to Fort Monroe from Karachi after being invited by her social media friend Sipra, whose house she visited on Sunday in Rajanpur district of Punjab.</p>

<p>The woman, who is on a tourist visa to Pakistan, had been living in the country for the past seven months.</p>

<p>The FIR, which is available with WION, states that the victim was staying at a hotel where she was gang-raped by them.</p>

<p>"We stayed in a hotel at Fort Monroe where both suspects gang raped me and also made a video of the act to blackmail me," she alleged in the FIR.</p>

<p>One of the accused, Sipra, has already been arrested by the Border Military Police while raids are being conducted to arrest the other suspect.</p>

<p>Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz has sought a report from the Punjab inspector general of police (IGP) on the Fort Munro incident.</p>

The victim —a vlogger/social media influencer —was on a trip along with her social media friends Muzamil Sipra and Azan Khosa to make a vlog. Police said that the American woman had come to Fort Monroe from Karachi after being invited by her social media friend Sipra, whose house she visited on Sunday in Rajanpur district of Punjab. The woman, who is on a tourist visa to Pakistan, had been living in the country for the past seven months. The FIR, which is available with WION, states that the victim was staying at a hotel where she was gang-raped by them. "We stayed in a hotel at Fort Monroe where both suspects gang raped me and also made a video of the act to blackmail me," she alleged in the FIR. One of the accused, Sipra, has already been arrested by the Border Military Police while raids are being conducted to arrest the other suspect. Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz has sought a report from the Punjab inspector general of police (IGP) on the Fort Munro incident. <p>“If Putin was a woman, which he obviously isn’t, if he were, I really don’t think he would have embarked on a crazy, macho war of invasion and violence in the way that he has,” Johnson told broadcaster ZDF.</p>

<p>“If you want a perfect example of toxic masculinity, it’s what he is doing in&nbsp;Ukraine.”</p>

<p>Johnson also said that G7 leaders "desperately" seek an end to the war in Ukraine and that there is "no deal available" currently.</p>

<p>He also described the summit as "incredible" as leaders "got closer and closer" to an agreement.</p>

<p>Johnson asserted that the West must support Ukraine militarily in order to get President Volodymyr Zelensky "in the best possible position" in negotiations with Russia "when talks eventually come".</p>

<p>Meanwhile, there seems to be no end to Russia’s attack on Ukraine which is going on for more than four months now.</p>

<p>Stealthing is the practice of removing a condom midway through intercourse and then concealing it from the partner.</p>

<p>Usually, men are found to be convicted for this offence, but this is the first time that a woman was penalised.</p>

<p>The two reportedly met online at the beginning of 2021 and began a casual, sexual relationship.</p>

<p>The woman later developed stronger feelings for her partner, who did not reciprocate and wanted to keep it casual, reported local newspaper Neue Westfälische.</p>

<p>The woman, who remains unidentified, then came up with a plan of getting pregnant and secretly poked holes in the package of condoms that her partner kept in his nightstand.</p>

<p>But her efforts were reportedly unsuccessful.</p>

<p>Despite not getting pregnant, the woman admitted to her partner that she had sabotaged his condoms and lied about being pregnant.</p>

<p>The man then reportedly pressed charges against the woman.</p>

<p>According to DW, prosecutors and the court were initially unsure which specific charges to levy against the 39-year-old despite agreeing that a crime had been committed.</p>

<p>"We have written legal history here today," Judge Astrid Salewski reportedly told the court.</p>
