India had another memorable day in the first Test versus Australia, in Nagpur. After commencing the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 edition in style by folding Pat Cummins & Co. for 177 on Day 1, on Thursday (February 09), Rohit Sharma-led India rode on skipper's 120, Ravindra Jadeja's 66 not out and Axar Patel's 52* to reach 321 for 7; leading by 144 runs.

Rohit resumed the day's play at 56 and went on to slam a sublime 212-ball 120, laced with 15 fours and two sixes. He showed grit, determination and class during his knock but could have missed out on reaching his ninth Test hundred when he had a terrible mix-up with his predecessor Virat Kohli for the fourth-wicket stand. The incident took place during the 48th over, bowled by Nathan Lyon.

Kohli nudged a delivery to mid-wicket and began to run before realising there is no run on offer. By then, Rohit had come halfway down when he turned and dived to save himself. Hitman was lucky that the throw wasn't a direct hit otherwise he would've made the long walk back to the pavillion. As Rohit survived, Kohli apologised to him to which the Indian captain had a heartfelt reaction. Here's the video:

1st Test: Virat Kohli apologises to Rohit Sharma after terrible mix-up almost ends Hitman's inning - watch

Rohit Sharma-led India lost the toss in the Nagpur Test, of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, on Thursday (February 09) but got two early breakthroughs after Australia came out to bat. Mohammed Siraj removed Usman Khawaja, trapping him lbw for 1 whereas Md Shami cleaned bowled David Warner, for identical score, as Indian fans were ecstatic in Nagpur.

Talking about the first wicket, Siraj trapped in-form Khawaja with the ball moving in the air and after pitching on the leg-side, it straightened a bit to trap the left-hander. After the umpire turned down the appeal, skipper Rohit decided to take the decision upstairs. As the review turned out to be successful, Rohit & Co. were on cloud nine. Nonetheless, head coach Rahul Dravid was also all pumped up and his reaction went viral. Here's the video:

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2022/23 edition commenced on Thursday morning (February 09) in Nagpur with Pat Cummins & Co. opting to bat first. However, Rohit Sharma-led India got off to a dream start as the pace duo -- Md Siraj and Md Shami -- struck early to reduce the tourists to 2/2. While Australia went to lunch 76 for 2, thanks to a solid third-wicket stand brewing between Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith, India could have got rid of Smith had Virat Kohli held onto a catch in the slip cordon.

The incident took place on the first ball of the 15th over, bowled by Axar Patel. Smith went for a drive off Axar but got a thick edge. Kohli, stationed at first slip, didn't anticipate the pace of the ball and was late to react to it. Hence, he made a mess of the chance and gave a reprieve to the dangerman Smith. Here's the video of Kohli giving a lifeline to Smith:

On Wednesday (January 11), India's current head coach Rahul Dravid is celebrating his 50th birthday. Dravid, known as 'The Wall', is one of the finest batters of all-time and a legend of the game. Representing India in 164 Tests, 344 ODIs and a solitary T20I, he returned with 24,208 international runs including 48 hundreds. After a stellar run at the international level, Dravid is currently serving as the head coach of the Indian senior men's team till the 2023 ODI World Cup.

Over the years, Dravid entertained fans with his blazing knocks. One of his most special innings came during India's historic Kolkata Test win over Australia during the 2000-01 Border-Gavaskar Trophy in India. Back then, the Sourav Ganguly-led Indian team were up against a daunting Steve Waugh-led Australia. Losing the series opener in Mumbai by ten wickets, India were on the back foot in the second and penultimate Test in Kolkata. After Australia posted 445 and dismissed India for a paltry 171, the hosts were following-on and seemed down and out at 232/4. Just then, VVS Laxman (281) and Dravid (180) stitched a mammoth 376-run fifth-wicket stand as India declared at 651/7; setting an improbable 384-run target for the visitors.

Harbhajan Singh, who claimed a hat-trick in the first essay, returned with 6 for 73 and Sachin Tendulkar chipped in with three scalps as Australia were dismissed for 212 to lose by 171 runs. This remains one of India's best wins in whites. After the victory, Dravid, Tendulkar & Co. went bonkers and poured champagne on teammates in the dressing room to celebrate the special win. Here's the video:

A controversy erupted on the opening day of the third and final Test between Australia and South Africa, at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), Sydney. After opting to bat first, Australia was going strong at 130 for 1, in the second session, when Marnus Labuschagne (batting on 70) edged one, off Marco Jansen, and the ball went to the slip cordon with Simon Harmer holding onto a low catch. While the umpire Paul Reiffel sent the decision to the third umpire, his soft signal was out. After a lot of replays from the third umpire, Richard Kettleborough, from different angles, the decision was overruled with Labuschagne surviving eventually.

The Dean Elgar-led South African side had started celebrating before the decision went upstairs and were shellshocked by the final call. While it looked like Hammer had done enough to catch the ball, some angles suggested that some part of the ball was touching the ground. Eventually, Labuschagne was given not-out, upsetting the Proteas. Here's the video of the controversial catch:

After the end of the day's play, with Australia 147 for 2, pacer Anrich Nortje gave his verdict with regard to the controversial catch. He said, "All of us thought it was out so I’m annoyed. Unfortunately, we didn’t get that one and I think it would have been a big one at that stage."

Many other cricketers joined in and shared their take with regard to the controversial catch. England's Test captain Ben Stokes tweeted, "ICC should get rid of the soft signal and let the 3rd umpire who has all the technology to make the decision when the on-field umpires send it upstairs, all the controversy is always around the soft signal given." India's former spinner Harbhajan Singh replied saying, "Absolutely waste of time (soft signals)what is the point giving a soft signal when you are referring it to the 3rd umpire anyways .. let the 3rd umpire give a decision." Even former SA captain Faf du Plessis felt that the final decision should've gone in favour of the bowling side as the soft signal was out.

Labuschagne, nonetheless, eventually fell for 79 as Australia ended a rain-hit Day 1 at 147-2 with Usman Khawaja unbeaten on 54. The batter also opened up on the catch and said, "Regardless of whether it's caught or not, with technology, there are so many ones that people are adamant they have caught - and Simon said 'I've caught that' - and in the old rules of catching it, because you felt like your fingers are under it, absolutely, but with the new footage those are so scrutinised because you see so many angles. Especially that side-on angle, makes it look really bad, then the front-on angle actually looks pretty good."

Day 2 of the Boxing Day Test match between Australia and South Africa, at the MCG, has been dominated by David Warner. After the hosts bundled out the Proteas for a paltry 189, with Cameron Green shining with a five-fer, and were 45 for 1 at stumps on the opening day, Warner came out all guns blazing on Tuesday (December 27) and smacked a memorable 200 -- in his 100th Test -- and took the home side to a daunting position courtesy of an impressive 239-run third-wicket stand with Steve Smith (85). Australia are already coasting towards a big lead in the contest with seven wickets in hand.

While Warner made the headlines with his knock, the Spider camera also made heads turn with a bizarre incident taking place. While fielding at backward square leg, South African pacer Anrich Nortje suffered a bizarre collision with the spider cam. The equipment, which hovers over the fielders in a bid to provide a 360-degree view of the ground, collided with the speedster and it seemed like a huge blow as Nortje lay on the ground for quite some time. As a result, players from both the camps ran towards him and checked on him. Nortje laid on the ground for some time before getting up and escaping a serious injury. Here's the viral video:

Brazil was at its very best as they dominated proceedings versus South Korea in the Round of 16 battle in the FIFA World Cup on Tuesday (December 06). As a result, the five-time winners went past the South Koreans, 4-1, to book a place in the quarter-finals of the World Cup in Qatar. While the likes of Neymar, Richarlison, etc. spearheaded the show for Brazil, with a 4-0 lead before the first half, they conceded only one goal, in the 76th minute, to showcase their dominance.

After the match, the Brazilian line-up won hearts by paying a rich tribute to legendary footballer Pele, who is reportedly undergoing treatment for a respiratory issue in Sao Paulo. The 82-year-old veteran is suffering from colon cancer. Here's the video of the Men in Yellow's heartfelt tribute to one of the most-loved footballers:

Sung by Lata Mangeshkar, the popular song "Mera Dil Ye Pukare" from the 1954 movie "Nagin," features Vaijayanti Mala, Pradeep Kumar, Jeevan, and Mubarak Silochana. Asmita is undoubtedly giving Ayesha, who began the trend earlier, a strong competition.
The Legends League Cricket has made a lot of noise since its commencement. In a clash between the top two teams in the qualifier match, for a place in the final, India Capitals faced Bhilwara Kings at the Barkatullah Khan Stadium, Jodhpur on Sunday (October 02). In a high-scoring thriller, Gautam Gambhir-led India Capitals emerged on top by four wickets but the clash made heads turn for an ugly altercation between Yusuf Pathan and Mitchell Johnson.

The incident took place during the 19th over of Bilwara Kings' innings. Yusuf smacked the Australian for 6, 4 and 6 off the first three balls before being dismissed by him on the last ball of the penultimate over. After his dismissal, Johnson muttered a few words at the former Indian batter who didn't take it kindly. Yusuf went towards him and the Aussie shoved the batter when the two came very close to each other. The on-field umpires also joined in to control the situation whereas the fielders looked on. Here's the viral video of the whole episode:

India and South Africa squared off against each other in the second and penultimate T20I in Guwahati on Sunday evening (October 02). Being asked to bat first, India rode on half-centuries from KL Rahul and in-form batter Suryakumar Yadav along with contributions from Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and a finishing cameo from Dinesh Karthik to post 237-3.

After reducing the Proteas to 46-3, India struggled to curtail the run-flow in the second half of the run-chase as centurion David Miller (47-ball 106 not out) and Quinton de Kock's 69* helped SA post 221-3; losing by 16 runs. During the match, the likes of captain Rohit (37-ball 43), KL Rahul (28-ball 55), Surya (22-ball 61), and Kohli (49 not out off 28 balls) provided enough entertainment for the crowd before DK joined in and played a useful cameo.

Kohli reached 49 on the second last ball of the 19th over, with a four off Anrich Nortje. He, however, missed scoring on the last ball before DK faced the entire last over off Kagiso Rabada. After facing the first four deliveries, DK seemingly asked Kohli if he wanted strike. To this, Kohli turned away quickly and asked him to have a go in the final two deliveries.

DK eventually helped India add 18 more runs with the bat, including a wide, with two sixes and a four. Here's the video of Kohli's selfless act:

Colorado Police have released a body-cam footage of a graphic incident in which that car with handcuffed woman inside is seen flying in a mangled heap due to the massive impact caused by the moving train.

At the start of the video, several police officers are seen arresting a woman, reportedly a 20-year-old. The woman can be seen kneeling with her hands raised in defensive way while a gun points at her. The woman can be seen getting handcuffed and being sat in the police car, still parked right in the middle of the railway track.

The unease among the police official can be noticed as they suddenly hear a distant horn from an oncoming train.

Words like "Oh my God," and "Stay back" are heard. No effective attempts to quickly remove the woman from the car or to take the car off-track are visible. The officers back away from the car, just seconds before a horrific collision.

Due to the massive momentum of the train, the car literally flies from its position and rests some distance away in a mangled heap. The video ends with police officers running towards the wreckage at a frantic pace.

The video is being circulated on social media with people criticising the police.

Video: Train smashes police car with handcuffed female suspect inside

India and Australia were involved in another high-scoring thriller in the third and final T20I, in Hyderabad, on Sunday evening (September 25). With the series levelled at 1-1, the stakes were high and the two heavyweights produced another thrilling contest where Rohit Sharma-led India won the clash on the penultimate ball to clinch the series 2-1.

The match went down to the wire, with India needing 11 off six balls. While Virat Kohli smashed a six off the first ball, he fell for 63 on the very next delivery. Hardik Pandya, who remained unbeaten on 25 off 16 balls, maintained his calm and hit the winning runs -- with four needed off two balls -- to take India past the finish line in front of a jam-packed stadium. As soon as Hardik did the job for India and completed the run-chase in style, cleverly opening the face of the bat to steer the ball towards the third-man region for a boundary -- skipper Rohit and Virat Kohli broke into wild celebrations sitting at the staircase of the Indian dressing room.

Manchester United defeated Sheriff Tiraspol 2-0 in the Europa League match on Thursday (September 15). It was a clinical display from the Erik Ten Hag-led Red Devils and the clash also made heads turn with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring his first goal of the ongoing season, by converting a penalty to extend his side's lead in the recent face-off in Moldova.

It isn't everyday when a team as big as Man United travel to the small nation. Moreover, the people of the country went bonkers in the stadium seeing Ronaldo at his best. His goal sent the spectators into a frenzy as the 37-year-old finally opened his goal-scoring account this season. But it wasn't only the crowd present in the stands who went out of control seeing CR7's heroics. When the Man United players were coming out of the airport to take the team bus, many had gathered in large numbers to greet the star-studded line-up. The loudest cheer was for Ronaldo and just then a young fan -- donning a Man United jersey -- breached the security and ran towards the legendary footballer.

The star all-rounder returned with bowling figures of 2-0-11-0 and scored a crucial 29-ball 35 after being promoted at No. 4 in the Men in Blue's run-chase of 148 versus their arch-rivals.

In India's second game of the showpiece event, Jadeja didn't get a chance to bat as Rohit Sharma & Co. posted a mammoth 192/2 in 20 overs versus Hong Kong, after being asked to bat first at the same venue. However, the 33-year-old returned with an economical spell of 4-0-15-1 and inflicted a run-out as well. He dismissed Hong Kong captain Nizakhat Khan, on a free hit delivery, to derail the minnows' run-chase on Wednesday (August 31). The run-out took place on the last ball of the powerplay, with Hong Kong 51 for 1. On a back of a length delivery, Nizakhat pushed the ball towards the backward point where Jadeja was placed. Trying to steal a single, the Hong Kong skipper paid a heavy price by taking on one of the best fielders as Jadeja's rocket throw sent him back to the pavillion. Here's the video of the run-out:

He just comes out and bats fearlessly which is what the team expects from him. Some of the shots he played today, those are not written anywhere in the book. It was very pleasing to watch. Shot selection was also crucial. We know he can play all around the park. We have also informed the group about this (flexibility in the batting order) as well.
A horrific video has emerged which appears to show a Ukrainian prisoner of war being castrated by Russian fighters. The Ukrainian, according to local reports, was later murdered.

Reacting to the video, Australian former general and military analyst Mick Ryan tweeted, “In the last day or so, a video showing Russian soldiers conducting a hideous and repulsive act against a defenceless Ukrainian prisoner of war has circulated.
