India's ace bowler Jasprit Bumrah might be rested for the fourth Test of the ongoing five-match series against England. The fourth Test will be be played in Ranchi from Friday (Feb 23) and Bumrah, India's top wicket-taker in the series so far, is expected to sit out to manage the workload. The pacer, with 17 wickets in three games, has played a pivotal role in India taking 2-1 lead in the series.

The likely exclusion of Bumrah is being reported in media after India's thumping win over England in Rajkot on February 18. The hosts registered their largest win by run margin as they thrashed Bazballing England by 434 runs. In Bumrah's absence, Mukesh&nbsp;Kumar, who had played the second Test in Vizag, may get a place in playing XI.

Batsman KL Rahul is also expected to make a comeback after missing the second Test due to an injury. Rahul was 90 per cent fit, as per the BCCI statement, ahead of the Rajkot Test but wasn't included as a precaution. With Virat Kohli out of the series due to personal reasons and Shreyas Iyer dropped from the squad of final three Tests, Sarfaraz Khan was handed a debut and Rajat Patidar was included in the side for the third Test as well.

For the Ranchi match, Sarfaraz, who scored 62 and 68 in both the&nbsp;innings of his debut match, is expected to keep his place while Patidar, who managed just five runs across two innings, is more likely to make a place for Rahul.

Wicketkeeper Dhurv Jurel, who scored 46 in his debut innings, might also get to keep his place ahead of KS Bharat who has had a modest run in the first two games.

After the Ranchi Test, the final game of the series will be played in Dharamsala from March 7.

IND vs ENG: India pacer Jasprit Bumrah to be rested for fourth Test in Ranchi against England, say reports

India beat England by 434&nbsp;runs on day 4 (Feb 18) of the third Test in Rajkot to take a 2-1 lead in the five-match series. Chasing a mammoth 557, England were bowled out for a paltry 122 in their second innings. India's Ravindra Jadeja took 5/41&nbsp;to lead the English collapse which took just more than a session. Apart from Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav also chipped in with two wickets.

England started horribly in the chase with first innings' centurion Ben Duckett being first one to go, thanks to a quick run-out by Mohammed Siraj and Dhruv Jurel. Jasprit Bumrah then trapped Zak Crawley LBW as England went to tea at 18/2.

Jadeja then struck thrice after tea to dismiss Ollie Pope, Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root to dash all hopes for England. England skipper Ben Stokes and Rehan Ahmed were the next to fall off Kuldeep Yadav as England lost three wickets for no runs. Tom Hartley and Ben Foakes then added 32 runs for the eight wicket before Jadeja returned and sent&nbsp;back Foakes.

Ashwin, who joined the team earlier in the day after missing the Test on day 3 (Feb 17) due to medical emergency, clean bowled Hartley to bring England at nine down before 100. Jadeja then took the wicket off Mark Wood, who scored 33 off 15 in vain, to complete his five-for and wrap up the win for India.

Earlier, India started from their overnight score of 196/2 with Shubman Gill and Kuldeep Yadav on the crease. Gill was first to fall on 91 because of a mix-up with Kuldeep. Jaiswal, who had retired on day 3 after scoring 104 due to back spams, came to bat after Gill's departure.&nbsp;

Kuldeep also departed soon and debutant Sarfaraz Khan joined Jaiswal on the crease. The duo added unbeaten 172 runs for the fifth wicket before skipper Rohit Sharma declared India's second innings on 430/4 shortly before tea on Sunday. Jaiswal remained unbeaten on 214 - his second double ton in as many matches. Meanwhile Sarfaraz, who had scored 62 in first innings, scored 68 not out in second- only the fourth Indian batter to score fifty-plus scores in both innings of his debut match.&nbsp;

England opener Ben Duckett says India are wary of them in the ongoing third Test in Rajkot. Duckett's comments came after India sent Kuldeep Yadav to bat towards the end of day 3 (Feb 17) after Rajat Patidar was out. Notably, Yashasvi Jaiswal also retired hurt but not before scoring 104.

"Them sending in a night-watchman shows they are wary of us," said Duckett at the end of play on Saturday. Rajkot Test, Day 3: India players wear black armband for THIS reason, Gavaskar says 'could've done it sooner'

Former England skipper Alastair Cook has called India spinner Ravi Ashwin running on the pitch on day 2 (Friday, Feb 16) of the third Test against England 'deliberate.' Cook said that the Indian spinner did so to get help when he would bowl during the second innings. The former England skipper made the comments on Friday while commentating on TNT Sports. Notably, India were penalised for Ashwin's action and England started their innings at 5/0 in Rajkot. &nbsp;

"Is it deliberate? Yes, it is. It's a tactical ploy that you can disturb the middle of the wicket because Ashwin wanted as much help [as possible] when he bowls. That was gamesmanship there, wasn't it?" Cook had said.

Ashwin was told about Cook's opinion at the end of day's play and gave a befitting reply in the press conference, saying: "They clearly warned some of our batters (on Thursday) for running on the pitch. I was aware of it, but my poor motor skills didn't allow me to get off the pitch in time. If the English media and players think it was on purpose, it wasn't."

Later in the day on February 16, Ashwin withdrew from the Test due to a medical emergency at home. The bowler, however, did manage to take his 500th Test wicket - becoming only the second Indian bowler to do so behind Anil Kumble.

Overall, Ashwin is the ninth bowler and fifth spinner in the world to take 500 or more Test wickets. Among active cricketers, Ashwin is third highest Test wicket taker behind England's James Anderson (696) and Australia's Nathan Lyon (517).

'Deliberate,' says ex-England skipper Alastair Cook about Ravi Ashwin running on pitch on day 2 of Rajkot Test

Former India bowler Zaheer Khan thinks that the pitch in Rajkot, which is the venue for the third Test between India and England, will have some reverse swing in it. Zaheer made the comments on Jio Cinema on the eve of the the Rajkot Test which starts on February 15. The swing will definitely help Indian seamers, especially Jasprit Bumrah who was Player of the Match in the last match, taking a nine-wicket haul.

''I hope the pitch is on similar lines to the one in Hyderabad and Vizag,'' Zaheer said on Jio Cinema.

Robinson says Bumrah's 'crazy good' England bowler Ollie Robinson termed India pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah as 'crazy good' for his exploits in the second Test in Vizag during the ongoing five-Test series. "Jasprit Bumrah has been crazy good I must have said, 'This bloke's the best bowler in the world,' ten times in Vizag. The way he got Pope out, I was like, 'Oh my, this guy's a joke.' And then he got Foakes out with a slower ball and I'm like, 'Oh my goodness, can this guy get any better?' You watch him and you think, 'Wow, he's good.' And then there's something else where you think, 'He's amazing, can he do anything more?'" Robinson wrote in his column for Wisden.

India spinner Ravi Ashwin has said that he doesn't want to talk about England's Bazball approach yet in the ongoing Test series in India. The veteran off spinner, however, said that he'll share his views after the five-match series is over. India and England are currently tied at 1-1 in the series with the next match starting on February 15 in Rajkot.

Jasprit Bumrah, on Wednesday (Feb 07), created history by becoming the first-ever Indian pacer to top the ICC Test bowling rankings. Bumrah reached the top after a brilliant fast-bowling display in the second Test between India and England, in Visakhapatnam, where the vice-captain ended with match figures of 9 for 91. With this, Bumrah also became the first-ever bowler in the history of cricket to become No. 1 in any of the three formats.&nbsp;

Bumrah topped the bowling rankings in Tests after a brilliant spell in the Visakhapatnam Test. The wily pacer's 6 for 45 in the first innings enabled Rohit Sharma-led India to take a vital 143-run lead after Yashasvi Jaiswal's 209 propelled the hosts to 396. England only managed 253 owing to Bumrah's lethal spell. In their second essay, India rode on Shubman Gill's 104 to set up a challenging 399-run target for the visitors. Ben Stokes &amp; Co. folded for 292 with Bumrah once again being among wickets (3 for 46). Thus, the 30-year-old pacer's Vizag heroics led him to gain the top spot in the ICC Test rankings for bowlers.&nbsp;

India head coach Rahul Dravid has termed England's 'Bazball' approach as more than just attacking cricket as it requires a lot of skills and ability. Dravid's comments came after England lost the second Test by 106 runs on Monday (Feb 5) as India levelled the five-match series 1-1. England were bowled out for 292 shortly before tea on day 4 but still managed to score second highest fourth innings total by a visiting team in India.

"It's not wild slogging, they are actually showing some very good skills. Some of the shots they are playing require a lot of skills and ability. You can't just come and execute those things," said Dravid at the post match presentation.

Coined after England's head coach Brendon McCullum, Bazball has turned the fortunes around for England in Test cricket. Ever since McCullum took over and Ben Stokes was appointed the skipper, England have lost just three games in 22 Tests they have played - a stark contrast to their results before Bazball.

Currently, England are aiming to win their first Test series in India since 2012. They started well by winning the first Test in Hyderabad where the visitors overcame a 190-run deficit in the first innings to win the game by 28 runs in four days.

On day 3 of the Vizag Test which England finished at 67/1, needing 332 runs more to win in next two days, veteran seamer James Anderson had also said that they'll try to finish the game in 70-80 overs only.

'Can't just come and execute those things,' India coach Rahul Dravid lauds England's Bazball approach

England skipper Ben Stokes thinks that the LBW decision based on hawk-eye to give Zak Crawley out on day 4 (Feb 5) of the second Test against India in Vizag was wrong. Crawley, who scored 73, was the fifth English wicket to fall in a chase of 399. His dismissal came one over before lunch on day 4 off Kuldeep Yadav with England at half-way mark in their run chase.

The incident happened in the 41st over England's innings and the on-filed umpire had given the batter not out. India captain Rohit Sharma then decided to take the review and the hawk-eye showed ball hitting the leg stump. Stokes, after the loss, said that the technology got it wrong in this case.

After Crawey's wicket, Jonny Bairstow also got out in the next over as India claimed five of the nine remaining English wickets in the first session of day 4 only. England skipper Ben Stokes thinks that the LBW decision based on hawk-eye to give Zak Crawley out on day 4 (Feb 5) of the second Test against India in Vizag was wrong.

England skipper Ben Stokes blames Zak Crawley's LBW decision on 'wrong hawk-eye' after defeat in second Test

Jasprit Bumrah is a generational talent, perhaps the best pacer from India since Zaheer Khan. The right-arm bowler is known for sending down some of the meanest and unplayable yorkers, an example of which was the delivery that got Ollie Pope’s middle and leg stumps breaking into halves in the first innings of the Vizag Test. After helping India win the match by 106 runs, claiming&nbsp;nine wickets across both innings, Bumrah revealed his first love in cricket.

"As a youngster that [the yorker] is probably the first delivery I had learned because I had come from tennis ball cricket, and I had seen the legends of the game, Waqar [Younis], Wasim [Akram] and even Zaheer Khan, I had seen them on the television, how do they bowl yorkers," Bumrah told the broadcaster after India's 106-run victory.&nbsp;

IND vs ENG, 2nd Test: India beat England by 106 runs in Vizag, level series 1-1

Former England opener Alastair Cook has termed India's Shubman Gill as a 'serious talent' after the youngster scored a sublime century on day 3 (Feb 4) of the second Test against England in Vizag. Gill's hundred came at a time when the batter was facing a lot of criticism for not being able to convert starts into big scores. His 104, however, showed the promise and talent the youngster possesses.&nbsp;

"Gill played beautifully. He has serious talent… and there was probably quite a lot of pressure on his shoulders. At the World Cup [in India], all the billboards were of Kohli, but he’s the next one they want to step into his shoes," said Cook while speaking to TNT Sports.

"That’s a big thing to have the pressure of a country the size of India on your shoulders. As a young talent, that’s something that the likes of Tendulkar and Kohli have dealt with… and he now has to learn to deal with it," the former England skipper added.

Gill's century helped India post 255 in their second innings, which coupled with their first innings lead of 143, gave England a daunting target of 399 runs to win the second Test match. England are already ahead 1-0 in the five-match series but winning in Vizag would require a miraculous effort from the visitors.

The batter, however, did not take field on day 4 due to a finger injury as informed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Gill had hurt his right index finger on day 2 of the Test but, the injury doesn't seem much concerning as Gill batted beautifully on the way to his third Test hundred and the first in 11 months.

As for the match, India were well ahead in the game after taking five wickets in the first session of day 4 with England needing 205 runs more to win.

Former England batter Alastair Cook lauds young Shubman Gill for 'carrying pressure of India on shoulders'

India batter Shubman Gill has lauded support from skipper Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid along with batting coach Vikram Rathour to keep believing in him. Gill's comments come after he ended a 11-month drought with a century on day three on Sunday (Feb 4) on the second Test against England in Vizag.

Gill's innings gave India a substantial lead in the second innings, setting the visitors a target of 399 to win the match.

"The support I've got from Rohit bhai and Rahul [Dravid] sir and especially Vikram [Rathore] sir as well. They are the ones who have always kept me motivated and always believed in me. And when you have guys like that motivating you, you are always going to be on top of your game," said Gill at the press conference after the end of play on day three.

The batter also spoke about his slump in Tests and said that it is 'part and parcel' of the game.

"I think that's part and parcel of the game. You do well and everybody's going to applaud you. You don't do well, everybody's doing to… But I think the important thing is to be able to know what you're going to do when you go into bat. I'm someone who likes to see the situation, play according to the situation and take chances and I think play percentage cricket," added Gill.

Gill, who got out after scoring 104, credited his century to staying true to his method of scoring runs so far.&nbsp;

"It's very important to stay true to who you are and how you've got runs. Sometimes when you're trying to be over-defensive or over-aggressive and try to be something that you're not, then you are prolonging those innings and you're sometimes not able to get out of that shell. And that was my thinking going into this Test match. I'm going to play the way I've played before," noted Gill.

IND vs ENG, 2nd Test: Shubman Gill not to take field on day 4 due to injury, informs BCCI

India bowler Jasprit Bumrah agreed that day 2 (Feb 3) of second Test against England 'was a good day' as he hit his marks and took six wickets to hand India a 143-run lead. This was one of the rare occasions when a pace bowler took a five-wicket haul on a pitch which is a&nbsp;spinners paradise. Bumrah, however, exploited reverse swing in Vizag and broke England's back, taking wickets of Joe Root, Ollie Pope and Ben Stokes in his 6/45 spell.

"You understand because you are playing three spinners and they will do a lot of work but whatever role you have you have to try and make an impact," Bumrah said after the second day's play.

"And today was a good day. I got six wickets but it's not going to happen every other day. But whenever I can help the team - how can I make things difficult, what is the best way? I try and search for answers. Some days it will not happen, that is how the sport works. When the good days happen, try and enjoy it and take that confidence," he added.

"The ball is reverse-swinging and the ball is relatively hard, so I might have to come back early and go for a spell," the bowler further said.

Among his six wickets, Bumrah said Joe Root was the most important one "because we understand it's an important wicket in this Test match. He's a world-class batter and we know on this wicket, to get his wicket was really important because the wicket isn't doing a lot. It's a slow wicket. We understood that was an important phase and if we get him out that leaves you in an advantage there. We understand how important he is for the England team so very happy with that."

In reply to India's 396 in the first innings, England folded out for 253. India finished the day 2 at 28/0 with a total lead of 171 runs.

IND vs ENG, 2nd Test: 'Not going to happen every day,' says Jasprit Bumrah after taking six-fer on day 2

England batter Joe Root left the field on day 3 (Feb 4) of the second Test in Vizag after sustaining a finger injury while attempting a catch in the slips. The incident happened in the 18th over of India's second innings when Root, standing in the first slip, tried to catch an edge offered by Shubman Gill off Tom Hartley. Root got the finger on the ball but couldn't catch it as the ball raced towards the boundary.

The England batter was seen in pain after it and the board issued a statement regarding the same. "Joe Root sustained an external blow to his right little finger, attempting a slip catch in the first session of D3," it said in an update.

As for the match, India started from their overnight score of 28/0 in the second innings but England veteran James Anderson struck early to send back both skipper Rohit Sharma and first innings' double centurion Yashasvi Jaiswal. India were suddenly 30/2 before Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer batted out almost rest of the first session. Iyer fell just before lunch on day 3 on the personal score of 29 with India on 111.

India went into lunch on day 3 at 130/4 with their lead at 273. After lunch, Gill scored his third Test century to take India's past 300. England, however, struck back with the wickets of Gill and Axar Patel (45). The duo had added 89 runs for the fifth wicket as India finished on 227/4 at tea on day 3.

IND vs ENG, 2nd Test Day 3: Joe Root leaves field after sustaining finger injury

The loss for India against England in first Test at Hyderabad has renewed the focus on pitches and the capability of India batters while playing spin as well. The home team was thoroughly outplayed in both the departments by the touring English side and it is visible in numbers. England's Ollie Pope leads the run chart after first match with 197 runs including 196 in the second innings while debutant spinner Tom Hartley leads the bowling chart with nine scalps to his name.

For India, KL Rahul is the batter with most runs - 108 in two innings while pacer Jasprit Bumrah has taken most wickets (9) despite India fielding three spinners in Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel.

The result is not something new, in fact in the three series played in India after the World Test Championship (WTC) 2021 final, Indian players have not been able to play better cricket than the touring sides in both departments, i.e., batting and bowling. While India has managed to win all three series, it is a pot waiting to boil over when India loses one of the home Test series and by the looks of it, England have a very good chance of winning their first red-ball series in India since 2012.

Here's the data from three series' which have taken place in India since 2021 WTC final:

<h2>New Zealand tour of India for two Tests</h2>

During the series, Mayank Agarwal was the highest run getter from both sides with 242 runs in four innings and Shreyas Iyer was overall second with 202 runs. New Zealand's Tom Latham came third with 163 runs. For India Axar Patel, however, scored more runs than Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli (one Test only) and Ajinkya Rahane. While for the Kiwis, it was their batters only who scored runs, albeit in small numbers.

As for bowling, Ajaz Patel took 17 wickets including a record 10-wicket haul while Ashwin and Patel combined took 23 wickets. Moreover, Kiwi pacers were also effective on so called spin friendly Indian pitches with Tim Southee and Kyle Jamieson taking 14 wickets combined while India's third and fourth highest wicket-takers, Jadeja and Jayant Yadav, took a total of 10 wickets, which shows the bit of ineffectiveness of Indian spinners on their home ground.

<h2>Sri Lanka tour of India for two Tests</h2>

Against Sri Lanka, it was Ravindra Jadeja, once again an all-rounder like Patel, who finished at the top of run charts with 201 runs in three innings. He finished ahead of the India batters namely Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Mayank Agrawal. Among the bowlers, Bumrah finished just two wickets behind Ravi Ashwin's 12 - highest in the series and two clear of Ravindra Jadeja's eight - once again showing the effectiveness of pacers on Indian pitches.

For Sri Lanka, Lasith Embuldeniya and Praveen Jayawickrama combined for 15 wickets in comparison to Jadeja and Ashwin's 20 wickets - showing Indian batters are as vulnerable as the visitors against spin.

<h2>Australia tour of India for four Tests</h2>

Visiting batter Usman Khawaja (333) emerged as the highest run-scorer and the only batter with more than 300 runs. Virat Kohli was second with 297 runs but apart from him, no&nbsp;other batter could cross 250 except Axar Patel who scored 264 runs in just five innings.

As for the bowlers, Ashwin and Jadeja took 47 wickets between them while Aussies, who had Nathan Lyon and debutant Todd Murphy in the side, finished with 36 between them - a performance almost at par given the experience of the Aussie duo. For the third spinner role, India had Axar who took three wickets in seven innings while Aussie Matthew Kuhnemann took nine in five innings.

Overall, the Indian spinners had 50 wickets among them while the Aussies, two of them hugely inexperienced in comparison, took 45 wickets along with Lyon.&nbsp;

In the ongoing series, &nbsp;the Indian spinners have managed 14 wickets with Ashwin taking six while Jadeja and Axar chipping in with five and three, respectively. For England, Hartley and part-time spinner Joe Root have only been suffice to manage 14 wickets while Jack Leach and Rehan Ahmed also picking up four between them.

The above instances clearly show that not only foreign batters have become better at playing the Indian spinners, the visitors have been able to contain the Indian batters, who are generally thought as better players of spin.

If the trend continues, England will surely have a brighter chance of beating India at home in a Test series, a feat last achieved last by England only in 2012 when they had won the four-match series 2-1.

Explained: Why England have better chance of winning ongoing Test series in India

Steve Smith took up a new role when he became a Test opener during the recently concluded home series versus West Indies, which ended in a 1-1 stalemate. Smith has been very successful&nbsp;batting at No. 4 over the years but was promoted as a Test opener after David Warner's red-ball retirement. The right-hander recently spoke at length about his new role and how he has enjoyed batting at his new position in the first couple of weeks.&nbsp;

Smith said, as quoted by Cricbuzz, "There was a lot of commentary around I'd failed in two or three innings - I had a not out and two low scores. Now I'm averaging 60 as an opener. It was just another position; I've battled against the new ball numerous times, coming in early." He opined, "I've enjoyed the first couple of weeks of it ... if they see fit to move me back down, I'll do whatever the team needs."

Smith did not have a bright start as a Test opener. In his first three innings, he had scores of 12, 11* and 6. However, he found some rhythm in Australia's 216-run chase in the second and final Test versus West Indies at The Gabba, Brisbane. While Smith carried his bat with a fine 91 not out, he could not take his side past the finish line as Pat Cummins &amp; Co. lost by eight runs. West Indies' Shamar Joseph starred with the ball, taking a brilliant 7 for 68 in the final innings.

Smith lauded Joseph -- who ended the series with the Player-of-the-Match and Player-of-the-Series awards for 57 runs and 13 scalps overall -- in the same interaction. Heaping praise on him, Smith recalled, "I overheard a conversation, I think we were seven down just before lunch and I overheard him speaking to Kraigg (Brathwaite) ... he's like, 'I'm bowling to the end, man'." He added, "He's a rare talent and I think it's great for cricket what he was able to do and see the West Indies competing like they did. He just kept coming in, and actually probably bowled faster at the end rather than the start."

'I have enjoyed the first couple of weeks': Steve Smith on his new role as Australia's Test opener

England have announced the playing XI for second Test against India starting February 2 in Vizag, Andra Pradesh. With leading spinner Jack Leach injured, England have decided to hand a debut to 20-year-old Somerset spinner Shoaib Bashir who linked up with the squad after a visa delay. Apart from him, veteran James Anderson has also been recalled in the final XI. Anderson will replace express pacer Mark Wood who played in the first Test.

Leach was always doubtful for the second Test after picking up a knee injury in the first Test in Hyderabad. He had also not taken part in team's practice session on Wednesday (Jan 31). Leach jarred his knee on day 1 of the first Test and played a limited&nbsp;role in England's sensational win thereafter. Despite the injury, he batted&nbsp;as well as scalped&nbsp;Shreyas Iyer's wicket in the second innings.&nbsp;

England announce playing XI for second Test vs India, Shoaib Bashir to replace injured Jack Leach

England's ace spinner Jack Leach is doubtful for the second Test against India in Vizag starting February 2. Leach had picked up a knee injury on day 1 of the first Test and played a curtailed part in the match which England eventually won. In Leach's absence, England could hand a debut to 20-year-old Shoaib Bashir who eventually joined the squad after the visa delay.

As for Leach, the spinner didn't take part in net practice session on Wednesday (Jan 31) and just entered the ground for treatment on his knee. During the match, Leach's reduced role saw him bat as well as taking Shreyas Iyer's wicket in the second innings. England coach Brendon McCullum has also teased the option of fielding an all-spin attack as well in Vizag.

Meanwhile, England batter Zak Crawley has said that Leach could still recover and play a part in the second Test.

They were 183/6 at tea on day 3 and lost three quick wickets after post tea before their innings wrapped up for 193/9. Chasing 216, West Indies did manage to take out Usman Khawaja early and Marnus Labuschagne shortly after but the visitors still need a magnificent effort to avoid a whitewash despite being ahead in the match on the first two days.

Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj kept England at bay with the last wicket partnership of 25 runs but India eventually were&nbsp;dismissed on 202 in the final over of the day&nbsp;as England took a 1-0 lead in the five-Test series.

The credit for England's win must also go to Ollie Pope who scored a magnificent 196 in the second innings to take England past 400 early on the day 4.

India had a good start in the chase of 231 with Yashasvi Jaiswal and skipper Rohit Sharma adding 42 runs for the first wicket. IND vs ENG, 1st Test: Tom Hartley's 7/62, Pope's 196 guide England to epic 28-run win over India

England skipper Ben Stokes made a sensational 'no-look throw' to dismiss India's Ravindra Jadeja on day 4 (Jan 28) of the ongoing first Test in Hyderabad. Jadeja was the third wicket to fall after tea with India already five down despite being 95/3 at one point in the chase of 231. The Indian all-rounder played a shot towards mid-on off Joe Root and Stokes charged quickly to collect and release the ball.

Stokes stumbled for balance but fired the ball underarm towards the non-striker's end and Jadeja, one of the quickest runners between the wickets, was found short. The first innings top scorer for India could manage only 2 (20) this time, leaving India in a precarious position at 119/6. Have a look at the run-out below:

Iceland Cricket took a cheeky dig at England after day 1 (Jan 25) of the first Test against India in Hyderabad. England were bowled out for 246 on day 1 before Indian batters took the attack to them, scoring 119/1 in just 23 overs they batted. Indian spin trio of Ravi Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel took eight wickets among them as England lost the plot after 58-run opening partnership. For India, opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal was sensational, finishing the day on 76.

The pitch did spin in the first session of the match itself but not viciously. After England's 'bazball' got entangled in the spin web, the Indian batters showed the skills of batting on a turning pitch. Iceland Cricket, on their official X handle, called out the same difference in skills.

IND vs ENG, 1st Test: Iceland Cricket takes CHEEKY DIG at England after day 1

Former South Africa all-rounder Brian McMillan has said that the players should give priority to Test cricket over the T20 leagues and Virat Kohli is an example to learn from. McMillan's statement comes after Cricket South Africa (CSA) decided to send a second-string squad on upcoming two-Test tour of New Zealand in February. The CSA decided to do so as the dates of the tour clash with South Africa's domestic SA20 tournament SA20.

"I think it's a world feel that you have to give priority to one's country and I think India has been doing it quite well. You finding Kohli and boys playing Test cricket is great. You don't find them putting out Tests to play BBL (T20 leagues). Test cricket will be threatened, but I suppose, it will remain the ultimate game," said McMillan to new agency PTI.

McMillan also spoke about Proteas batter Heinrich Klaasen retiring prematurely from the Tests. Apart from him Quinton de Kock also retired from Tests in 2021 and announced the ODI retirement after the conclusion of ODI World Cup 2023 in November 2023.

"I hope modern players are making enough money otherwise it's very difficult to do business. It is very hard on players. Rauf's move was criticised heavily by many former players across the world as Pakistan were without any express pace option in the three-match series which they lost 0-3.
