Rohit Sharma-led India are on a roll in the home ODI World Cup 2023 edition. They are the only unbeaten team so far, with eight back-to-back teams and became the first-ever to book a semi-final berth. Ahead of India's last league game versus the Netherlands, on Sunday (Nov 12) in Bengaluru, former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly revealed that Rohit wasn't keen to take over as the all-format skipper, after Virat Kohli, but was later on convinced by Ganguly, the then BCCI chief.

"Rohit Sharma wasn't keen (on taking up India's captaincy in all three formats). It had gone to a stage where I told him 'you'll have to say yes otherwise I'll make the announcement.' Because he is an outstanding captain. And after Virat Kohli left, he was the best man to lead India. I am not surprised by what I am seeing," Ganguly said in a chat with Kolkata TV.

Ganguly explained the reason behind Hitman's reluctance and said, "Lot of cricket; Tests, ODIs, T20, IPL – he was already a captain there, lot of pressure. So he had a lot of his plate. But nothing can be bigger than being an India captain. I am happy that he took it and it makes me glad seeing the results."

Rohit became the T20I skipper in late 2021 after Virat Kohli's resignation, which came before that year's T20 World Cup in the UAE. Later that year, Kohli was sacked as the ODI captain with Rohit succeeding him as the white-ball skipper. Ultimately, Hitman became the all-format captain in early 2022 with Kohli's resignation from the top post in Tests, which came soon after the series loss to hosts South Africa.

While Rohit's full-time captaincy has had a lot of bumps, the national side is on a roll at the moment and only some distance away from winning the home ODI WC. Under him, India reached the 2022 T20 WC semi-finals and ended as runners-up in the 2023 WTC final.&nbsp;

Ganguly also revealed that head coach Rahul Dravid was also not keen to take the top post, which became vacant after Ravi Shastri's exit in late 2021. However, he agreed for the betterment of Indian cricket.&nbsp;

"It's a lot of time on the road. He has a young family, two young kids. Plus, he played cricket all his life. So it's not easy coaching but he agreed thinking about Indian cricket and I wish he does it in the future too. A coach needs to be given time; it isn't magic for a coach to produce instant results in 3-4 months. He needs time to turn things around which he has now, second year in his tenure," Ganguly said as he hailed Dravid.

India are playing like legitimate champions: Former opener lauds Rohit & Co.'s unbeaten ODI WC run

Sanjay Bangar -- former Indian opener and batting coach --&nbsp;lauded Rohit's captaincy and even cited ex-captain Sourav Ganguly's example.

Speaking on Star Sports, Bangar&nbsp;praised Rohit&nbsp;on how he has dealt with the Indian team. He said,&nbsp;"I believe his USP is that he’s backed the players who were injured and low on confidence. Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah these 3 players were making comebacks after injury, and they were given the confidence that they were a part of this team, and that the team believes&nbsp;in their abilities, and that they would get opportunities."

'I believe his USP is...': Former Indian batter all praise for Rohit Sharma as India remain unbeaten in ODI WC

Former England captain Michael Vaughan has blasted Pakistan's ex-cricketer Mohammad Hafeez for calling Virat Kohli 'selfish' following his unbeaten 101 in India's 243-run win over South Africa in match 37 of ODI World Cup 2023 on Sunday (Nov 5), in Kolkata. Hafeez pointed out that Kohli was playing slow&nbsp;and didn't try&nbsp;the big shots in the end overs&nbsp;in a bid to reach his 49th ODI ton and equal Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar for most hundreds in the format.

Following Hafeez's comments, Vaughan took to X and wrote, "Come on @MHafeez22 !!! This is utter nonsense.. #CWC2023 #India #Pakistan."

'This is utter nonsense': Michael Vaughan SLAMS Mohammad Hafeez for calling Virat Kohli 'selfish'

India continued their unbelievable run in the home ODI World Cup, with a massive 243-run win over second-positioned South Africa in match 37 on Sunday (Nov 5) at the iconic Eden Gardens in the eastern city of Kolkata. Batting first, India rode on a magnificent start provided by captain Rohit Sharma (40), Shreyas Iyer's 77 and birthday boy Virat Kohli's 101* to post 326 for 5. In reply, Indian pacers and Ravindra Jadeja's five-fer dismissed the Proteas for 83&nbsp;in 27.1 overs.

After the game, Rawalpindi Express Shoaib Akhtar lauded Team India, praising their pace trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami. The former Pakistan pacer feels the Indian fast bowlers deserve more credit and 'it is time to celebrate them' for their wonderful job in the last few matches.

"Credit goes to the bowlers as they are performing brilliantly. It’s high time that you start regarding Indian pace bowlers as you do it for the batters basically. It’s time to celebrate fast bowling in Indian cricket because they have done a wonderful job in the last three to four matches and they are looking apart,” Akhtar said&nbsp;on his YouTube channel.

Bumrah (15 wickets), Siraj (10) and Shami (16) have assured India of terrific start with the ball in the last three-four games, setting the tone for other bowlers to cash in. As a result, India dismissed England for 129 and Sri Lanka for a paltry 55 before rattling the South Africans on Sunday evening.

During the SA run-chase, the Proteas were reduced to 35-3 due to the pace trio's relentless bowling before Jadeja took over.

ODI WC: High time we celebrate India's fast bowling, says Shoaib Akhtar after hosts' big win vs SA

India romped past South Africa in match 37 of the ODI World Cup at the iconic Eden Gardens, Kolkata on Sunday (Nov 5). Opting to bat first, Rohit Sharma's quickfire 40, Shreyas Iyer's 77, birthday boy Virat Kohli's 101* and Ravindra Jadeja's 15-ball 24 not out took India to 327 for 5. In reply, the Proteas -- who are the only team apart from India with a confirmed semifinal ticket -- got bundled out for a paltry 83 in 26.1 overs.

With the ball, Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami started the onslaught before Jadeja ended with 5 for 33. After yet another clinical win for India, who have now made it eight wins in a row in the ongoing tournament, Shami hilariously trolled the South African side. The Temba Bavuma-led Proteas have been on a run-scoring spree in the mega event -- with three scores in excess of 400 -- but fell flat versus the Indian team.&nbsp;

Talking to Star Sports after India's 243-run win, Shami&nbsp;spoke to&nbsp;former cricketer-turned-commentator Mohammed Kaif and said, "Har baar 400 paar karne waalon ka haal dekko (look at the condition of the team that scored 400-plus in every match)."

At the post-match presentation, in Kolkata, Rohit said, "If you look at how we have played in the last three games, we have adapted better. We were put under pressure against England. But we got a decent score and then the seamers did the job. We lost a wicket in the first over. Then got runs and then the seamers did well. We needed Kohli to go out there and play the situation. We then knew we had to keep it in the right areas and let the pitch do the rest."&nbsp;

India have now become only the second team&nbsp;to bowl two opponents out for less than 100 runs in an ODI World Cup edition. Mahela Jayawardene-led Sri Lanka were the first side to achieve this feat during the 2007 edition&nbsp;in West Indies.

India are left with one game in the group stage, when they take on the Netherlands on Sunday (Nov 12) at the M Chinnaswammy Stadium in Bengaluru. After this, they will shift their focus on the knockouts. They became the first side to make it to the top four after their 302-run win over Sri Lanka last week.

Unbeaten India equal unique ODI World Cup record after 243-run win over South Africa

It was the clash-of-the-table-toppers when India locked horns with South Africa in match 37 of the ODI World Cup 2023 edition on Sunday (Nov 5) at the iconic Eden Gardens, Kolkata. While many expected it to go down to the wire, Rohit Sharma-led India continued their unbeaten streak in the mega event by earning their eighth win on the trot, beating the Proteas by a massive 243-run margin.

In reply, the Proteas only managed&nbsp;a paltry&nbsp;83 in 26.1 overs, with Ravindra Jadeja taking 5 for&nbsp;33. So far, India have beaten the likes of five-time winners Australia, Afghanistan, arch-rivals Pakistan, Bangladesh, New Zealand, England, Sri Lanka and South Africa -- who are the only team apart from them with a semifinal berth -- and sit pretty at the top (with 16 points).

They are the team to beat and former Pakistan batting great Mohammad Yousuf feels Rohit &amp; Co. will remain unbeaten to win the World Cup at home.

“Before the match, it seemed that a close game between two top teams is on the cards. But after this match, only one team is on top in the tournament. India are favourites and that’s because they have top-class batters, bowlers and their fielding is also top notch and they are playing as a unit,” Yousuf opined on his YouTube channel.

Don’t think India will lose any match in ODI World Cup 2023: Former Pakistan great's big claim

Rohit Sharma-led India demolished Sri Lanka by 302 runs in match 33 of the ODI World Cup 2023 edition, on Thursday (Nov 2) at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Being asked to bat first, India rode on Shubman Gill's 92, Virat Kohli's 88 and Shreyas Iyer's 82 to post a mammoth 357 for 8. In reply, the Lankans bundled out for 55 in 19.4 overs.

While the Indian seamers were on top of their game, especially with Mohammed Shami returning with 5 for 18, Kohli, Iyer and Gill also stood tall in the first innings. Kohli and Gill stitched an impressive 189-run second-wicket stand but none of them touched the 100-run mark. For Kohli, he missed out on his 49th ODI ton which would have seen him equal with Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar for most tons in the format.

Sensing a lot of noise on Kohli's much-awaited 49th ODI hundred, former England captain Nasser Hussain hopes&nbsp;the star India batter&nbsp;manages to shut&nbsp;the outside noise&nbsp;in the upcoming weeks as there is a World Cup to be won. He cited the example of Sachin Tendulkar, revealing how much pressure the former batter was feeling when he was on the verge of getting to his 100th international century.

<h2>'I remember Sachin Tendulkar had spoken about it....'</h2>

Hussain said on Star Sports, "Anything I would say about it&nbsp;winning the World Cup is the most important thing. He will get the 49, he will get the 50th. He will probably get a 100 international hundreds, he is that good. But the more important thing is winning the World Cup. India must not build it up to be about his 49th."

He further opined, "I remember Sachin had spoken about it, the only time he really felt the enormity of who he was when going from 99 to 100, the person in the room service before he hung up asked him 'are you going to get your 100th today?.

"He hid himself from the noise, he shut out the noise and the only time he could hear the noise was from 99 to 100. So, I just hope that Virat can hide away from that noise, just for a few weeks longer," Hussain added.

During the 2011 ODI World Cup, at home, Tendulkar reached his 99th international ton with a majestic 111 in MS Dhoni-led India's group stage clash versus South Africa, in Nagpur. However, he took over an year to get to the elusive 100th international century due to the excessive pressure mounted&nbsp;by media and fans. Thus, Hussain doesn't want the script to remain the same for Kohli.

India raced past Sri Lanka by 302 runs in match 33 of the ODI World Cup, on Thursday (Nov 2) in Mumbai&nbsp;to book a place in the semi-finals. Being asked to bat first, India rode on Shubman Gill's 92, Virat Kohli's 88 and Shreyas Iyer's 82 to post a mammoth 357 for 8. In reply, Sri Lanka were bundled out for 55 as Mohammed Shami (5 for 18) and Mohammed Siraj (3 for 16) wreaked havoc with the ball.

The swing and seam rattled the Sri Lankan batters as India pacers made light work of the Islanders at a jam-packed Wankhede Stadium. However, their brilliant bowling display wasn't well received by former Pakistani player Hasan&nbsp;Raza, who feels the International Cricket Council (ICC) is helping India by giving them a&nbsp;different set of balls.

“The balls given to Indian bowlers should be checked. They are getting more swing and seam. Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj are bowling like Allan Donald and Makhaya Ntini. Even Mathews was surprised to see the amount of swing Shami’s ball got in Mumbai. Either ICC is helping them, or BCCI is coming to help their bowlers. There could be an involvement of the third umpire as well,” Hasan said while speaking on a Pakistani TV show.

Now, former Indian opener Aakash Chopra has reacted to Hasan's absurd claims. "Is it a serious cricket show? If not, please mention ‘satire’ ‘comedy’ in English somewhere. It&nbsp;might be written in Urdu already but unfortunately, I can’t read/understand it," Chopra tweeted.

On Thursday (Nov 2), Gill scored his second fifty of the 10-team tournament when India locked horns with Sri Lanka at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai in match 33. Being asked to bat first, India lost captain Rohit Sharma (4) early but Gill and Virat Kohli (88) revived the innings with a mammoth 189-run second-wicket stand and posted 357 for 8, with Shreyas Iyer also chipping in with an attacking 82. Gill top-scored with a fine 92 and surpassed 1,400 runs in the ODI format in 2023.

On Thursday (Nov 2), as India locked horns with Sri Lanka at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma opened up on India's winning streak and stated that the Men in Blue are still striving hard to keep improving and not get carried away.&nbsp;

After Kusal Mendis-led Islanders opted to bowl first in Mumbai, Rohit spoke at the toss and said, "We would have batted first as well. Good pitch and some assistance at the start and it will be nice under lights for our seamers to bowl. It's a great honour and a good moment for me to captain the team where I have grown up playing. That's a good thing for us moving forward. But as a team, we strive to keep improving and not get carried away and stay balanced. Try to tick the boxes whenever we take the field."

For the SL game, India have gone unchanged. They will look to get past the Lankans, whom they defeated twice in the Asia Cup 2023 edition including the final.

India (Playing XI):&nbsp;Rohit Sharma(c), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul(w), Suryakumar Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj

Sri Lanka (Playing XI): Pathum Nissanka, Dimuth Karunaratne, Kusal Mendis(w/c), Sadeera Samarawickrama, Charith Asalanka, Angelo Mathews, Dushan Hemantha, Maheesh Theekshana, Kasun Rajitha, Dushmantha Chameera, Dilshan Madushanka

The last time both sides locked horns at the Wankhede Stadium in an ODI World Cup was during the 2011 edition's final. Back then, MS Dhoni-led India beat the Lankans by six wickets in pursuit of 275.&nbsp;

Another win will confirm India's place in the World Cup semi-finals. Team India have not won an ICC title since their historic triumph in the 2013 Champions Trophy. Thus, Rohit &amp; Co. will be desperate to keep going ahead and not loose focus towards the business end of the tournament.

Thus, Rohit & Co. will be desperate to keep going ahead and not loose focus towards the business end of the tournament.

'We strive to keep improving and not get carried away': Rohit Sharma on India's unbeaten run in ODI WC

Former Indian opener Sunil Gavaskar has hailed Rohit Sharma's sublime 87 in India's 100-run win over England in match 29 of the ODI World Cup in Lucknow on Oct 29. Asked to bat first, India didn't get off to a great start and were soon reduced to 40 for 3 but captain Rohit stitched an impressive 91-run fourth-wicket stand with KL Rahul (39) before getting out for a classy 87 as India managed a below-par 229 for 9 with Suryakumar Yadav (49) also chipping in with the bat. In reply, England were dismissed for 129 as Mohammed Shami (4 for 22) and Jasprit Bumrah (3 for 32) wreaked havoc with the ball.

Gavaskar has lauded Rohit for playing a top knock amid a difficult situation to take India past the 200-run mark and believes his knock was worth more than a hundred. "Rohit Sharma's innings against England was a captain's innings worth more than a hundred as he tailored his approach according to the needs of the situation," Sunil Gavaskar wrote in his column for Khaleej Times.

Rohit has been India's top run-getter in the ten-team competition. He has 402 runs (fourth-most) including a best of 131, versus Afghanistan, and will look to continue his good run going forward.&nbsp;

India have been on a roll in the home ODI World Cup. They have won six games on the trot and Gavaskar wants the hosts to continue their dominance and not loosen up. "India must not loosen up and keep the winning tempo going as it sends a message to the opposition that they are determined to win the trophy at home," Gavaskar added.

India are one win away from booking a place in the semi-finals of the mega event. On Thursday (Nov 2), they locked horns with 1996 winners Sri Lanka at the iconic Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai in match 33. World Cup 2023: Rohit Sharma's 87 vs England was worth more than hundred, feels Sunil Gavaskar

Rohit Sharma-led India have been on a roll in the home ODI World Cup. They remain the only unbeaten team in the tournament, having won their first six games with relative ease. Ahead of their clash versus Sri Lanka on Thursday (Nov 2), head coach Chris Silverwood opened up on India's bowling attack and heaped praise on the attack with the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Kuldeep Yadav, etc. performing brilliantly so far.&nbsp;

<h2>'There is no hiding it is a very good bowling attack'</h2>

"If you look at that bowling attack and you watch them operate, it is a very strong bowling attack. I think any team in the world would want an attack like that, to be honest," Silverwood told media during the team's training session prior to the India game. He opined, "But we see that as a great challenge for our guys. We see it as an opportunity to go out and play against the best and see, I mean, pit ourselves against that. But there is no hiding it is a very good bowling attack."

So far, Bumrah has accounted for 14 wickets (fourth-most), Kuldeep has ten scalps (13th), Shami has nine breakthroughs from two encounters whereas Ravindra Jadeja has got eight wickets in the mega event.

Back then, India rode on Mohammed Siraj's 6 for 21 to dismiss the Lankans for 50 and chased down the target with ten wickets, and 263 balls&nbsp;to spare. Silverwood is optimistic that the defeat in the Asia Cup would 'give more motivation' to the Lankan squad, which is marred with injuries, to perform well.&nbsp;

"I would rather hope that the defeat in the Asia Cup would give more motivation to the boys to come out and obviously fight, show plenty of spirit and get stuck in to the Indian side. They are a very good side — we know that — we have seen them play some superb cricket this tournament so far. But I think it is a good opportunity for our boys to show what they are made of as well. Hopefully, the defeat in the Asia Cup will give motivation to the boys," the Englishman added.

The last time India and SL met at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai in the ODI World Cup was back in the 2011 edition's final. The MS Dhoni-led Men in Blue defeated the Islanders by six wickets in a chase of 274. Will the script remain in India's favour or will the Lankans break India's winning streak?&nbsp;

CWC '23: Any team would want a bowling attack like India's, says SL coach ahead of Mumbai clash

India beat England by 100 runs in match 29 of the ODI World Cup 2023 edition on Sunday (Oct 29) in Lucknow to keep their winning run intact in the ten-team tournament at home. Being asked to bat first, India rode on captain Rohit Sharma's 87, KL Rahul's 39 and Suryakumar Yadav's 49 to post 229 for 9 in 50 overs.

In reply, Jos Buttler-led defending champions were bundled out for 129 in 34.5 overs with Mohammed Shami taking 4 for 22 along with Jasprit Bumrah's 3 for 32. Thus, India regained the top spot, from South Africa, to have 12 points and one foot in the semi-finals.&nbsp;

After the game, Bumrah lauded his bowling partner Shami.

Shami wasn't preferred in the playing XI during India's initial games but came back during the New Zealand game (picking 5 for 54) and was adjudged the Player-of-the-Match following India's four-wicket win in pursuit of 274 in Dharamsala. In the Lucknow encounter, Shami continued his top form and returned with 4 for 22, dismissing the likes of Ben Stokes, Moeen Ali, Jonny Bairstow and Adil Rashid, to contribute in India's win. Thus, Bumrah was all praise for his bowling partner.&nbsp;

<h2>'He's you know, one of the legends of the game'</h2>

Bumrah told Sky Sports, "He is outstanding. He's you know, one of the legends of the game. I feel he has always been quite calm. He doesn't come out to be flamboyant, but the way he was bowling as if he was playing a Test match and [it] was really, really wonderful to see.&nbsp; Usually, we've had a lot of partnerships in Test-match cricket and I really enjoy bowling with him. So yeah, I'm really happy with the way he's going on."

With India registering their sixth win on the trot, captain Rohit said at the post-match presentation, "This was the game, a lot of character in the squad. When the times were tough, all our experienced players stood up at the right time and got the game for us. Looking at how the tournament has gone for us, batting second in the first five games, we had to come and bat here. We were challenged upfront, they bowled pretty well upfront. For us to get to a total on a pitch that had something in it, we just wanted to get to a total where we could play with it. We were not great with the bat today. Losing three wickets isn't the ideal situation. When you are in a situation like that, all you are looking to do is create that long partnership, which we got. But couple of guys threw it at the end, including myself."

He added, "I thought we were 30 runs short. (On India's new ball bowling) It's not something you see everyday. When you start your innings, you have to somehow try and get a couple of wickets to put the pressure back on the opposition. With the experience that our seamers have now, you can always rely and bank on them to get those crucial breakthroughs. That's exactly what our seamers did. They exploited the conditions pretty well. There was swing, there was lateral a bit of lateral movement as well. They put the ball in the right areas to create that doubt in the batters' mind."

India will now face Sri Lanka in match 33 of the mega event on Thursday (Nov 2) in Mumbai.

CWC '23: 'Md Shami is one of the...' - Bumrah all praise for his bowling partner after India beat England

Rohit Sharma-led India crushed defending champions England in match 29 of the ODI World Cup 2023 edition in Lucknow on Sunday (Oct 29). With five successive wins in the ten-team tournament, India were favourites versus the struggling English line-up. Being asked to bat first, India rode on captain Rohit's sublime 87, Suryakumar Yadav's 49 and KL Rahul's 39 to post 229 for 9. In reply, the English line-up were bundled out for a paltry 129 in 34.5 overs with Mohammed Shami (4 for 22), Jasprit Bumrah (3 for 32) and Kuldeep Yadav (2 for 24) shining with the ball.&nbsp;

Thus, this became India's sixth win on the trot as they remain the only unbeaten side in the competition and are sitting pretty at the top with 12 points. With this victory, India also attained a special feat. They have now surpassed New Zealand (58) to have second-most wins in ODI World Cup history, with five-time winners Australia at the top (73). Meanwhile, England attained another dubious feat in the ongoing World Cup, losing four back-to-back games for the first time ever. Pakistan had achieved this forgettable record after their loss to South Africa on Friday (Oct 27) in Chennai.&nbsp;

India surpass New Zealand to achieve THIS special feat in ODI World Cups after win over England

India faced England in match 29 of the ODI World Cup 2023 edition on Sunday (Oct 29) in Lucknow. After five back-to-back wins, Rohit Sharma-led India locked horns with the defending champions in a bid to regain the top spot in the points table with their sixth victory on the trot. Being asked to bat first, the home side were in a spot of bother at 40 for 3, further reduced to 164 for 5, before posting 229 for 9. In the second innings, Rohit &amp; Co. rode on Jasprit Bumrah's 3 for 32, Kuldeep Yadav's 2 for 24 and Mohammed Shami's 4 for 22 to dismiss the 2019 winners for a paltry 129 in 34.5 overs.&nbsp;

With another convincing win, India have regained the top spot in the points table -- moving past South Africa -- and remain the only unbeaten side in the 10-team tournament. While India have one foot in the semi-finals, here is how the home side can still NOT qualify for the next round:

India have been the best side in the tournament but Sri Lanka and Afghanistan can spoil their party. Both the Asian sides have four points from five games. This means one or both of them can match India's current tally (12 points) if India lose their remaining three games by a convincing margin. Thus, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka -- both of whom have locked horns in Pune on Monday (Oct 30) in match 30 -- will need to win all their four games at any cost.&nbsp;

At the same time, just one more point -- or if the Afghanistan-Sri Lanka clash is washed out -- will secure a place for India in the top four. They will now gear up to lock horns with Sri Lanka in their next outing, i.e. match 33 of the mega event which will be held at the iconic Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.&nbsp;

After the England win, captain Rohit said at the post-match presentation, "This was the game, a lot of character&nbsp;in the squad. When the times were tough, all our experienced players stood up at the right time and got the game for us."

ODI World Cup 2023: India can still MISS out on SEMI-FINAL berth despite big win over England - Here's how

South Africa took the field, without regular Temba Bavuma, versus Bangladesh in match 23 of the ODI World Cup 2023 edition on Tuesday (Oct 24) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The Proteas continued their winning run with another big win, beating the Shakib Al Hasan-led Bangla Tigers by 149 runs. With this, they are now in the second spot after hosts India.&nbsp;

Seeing South Africa's dominance in the ten-team tournament, former Indian opener Aakash Chopra feels Kolkata could witness the best game of the tournament when India face Bavuma &amp; Co. on Nov 5 (Sunday). Here is what he tweeted:&nbsp;

Chopra wrote, "South Africa is a beast while batting first. India are the best chasers in this tournament. Kolkata could witness the best game of the tournament if both teams decide to stick to their guns and choose accordingly.&nbsp;5th November.&nbsp;Eden Gardens. #CWC23".

India vs South Africa could be best game of ODI World Cup 2023, feels former Indian opener

Former Indian opener-turned-commentator Gautam Gambhir has asked Babar Azam to be more aggressive with the bat as Pakistan seek a turnaround in the ongoing ICC ODI World Cup in India. At present, Pakistan are outside the top four, at the fifth spot, with two wins and equal number of defeats. Ahead of their ongoing clash versus Afghanistan, Gambhir schooled Babar to lead the charge for Pakistan with some aggressive batting.&nbsp;

Talking on Star Sports, Gambhir said, "Babar Azam is under pressure, the entire team is under pressure. Babar has to deliver, because he has the reputation, he has class, he has ability. I picked Babar Azam in the top 5, I backed him to score 3-4 centuries on the pitches in India. Babar has the ability to do it even now."

<h2>'The way he played against India, it&nbsp;put more pressure on other batters'</h2>

Gambhir further opined, "He has to score runs and make his team win because if he scored 50 off 60 or 70 balls or scored 80 off 120 balls, there is no use. The way he played against India, it gave me an impression that he put more pressure on the rest of the batting unit and he did not release the pressure." He added, "If you want the team to play aggressive cricket, you have to lead from the front. Babar has to play freely, he has to play out-of-the-box cricket, and even out-of-the-box captaincy if Pakistan is to make the semi-final."

So far, Babar has had a mixed run in the ODI World Cup. He has two fifties in five outings, including the 74 versus Afghanistan, but has often been criticised for his strike rate. He is striking at&nbsp;79.69 in the current ten-team tournament with two half-centuries under his belt. It will be interesting to see if he tweaks his batting method and bats more aggressively in the upcoming games.

At present, Pakistan is defending a challenging 282/7 versus Afghanistan in match 22 of the ODI World Cup in Chennai on Monday (Oct 23).&nbsp;

If he scored 50 off 60 balls, there is no use: Gambhir SLAMS Babar Azam's batting approach in ODI WC

Rohit Sharma-led India continued their winning run when they locked horns with New Zealand in match 21 of the ICC ODI World Cup, at home, on Sunday (Oct 22) in Dharamsala. Both sides met each other being unbeaten in the ten-team tournament and produced an intense battle, where India eventually went past the Kiwis by four wickets in pursuit of 274. The likes of Mohammed Shami (5 for 54), Ravindra Jadeja (10-0-48-0 and 39 not out), Rohit (46) and Virat Kohli (95) starred in India's fifth win on the trot as they sit pretty at the top with ten points.&nbsp;

After the match, former Indian batter-turned-commentator Sanjay Manjrekar lauded Team India and hailed captain Rohit's fearless approach at the top. Rohit has been in top form in the ODI World Cup, with 311 runs (second-most) and has struck at&nbsp;133.47; going hard at the powerplays. In the game versus the Black Caps, he targetted Matt Henry, in particular, and Trent Boult and never shied away from counterattacking despite being beaten on occasions. As a result, India was 63 for no loss after 10 overs.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Thus, Manjrekar said on Star Sports, "The talk was about Trent Boult's swing, and that Lockie Ferguson and Matt Henry could trouble the Indian batters a lot on this pitch. I like this Rohit Sharma because India are winning more and winning more convincingly. He scored five centuries in 2019 but India's performance didn't look this convincing. Yes, he is scoring forties but is going after setting a good platform."

After the win over NZ, Rohit said at the post-match presentation, "Good start to the tournament. Job is half done. Important to stay balanced. Not to think too far ahead. Important to stay in the present. Shami took the opportunity with both hands. He has the experience in these conditions and is a class bowler. At one stage, we were looking at 300 plus. Credit to our bowlers at the back end. I am enjoying my batting. Both are different personalities but we (Him and Gill) complement each other. Happy that we won. Nothing much to say. He (Kohli) has done this for us so many years. He backed himself to do the job. Kohli and Jadeja pulled us back when we lost a few wickets in the middle. The fielding is something we pride ourselves on. Today the fielding wasn't clinical. Ravindra Jadeja is one of the best fielders in the world. These things happen. We know that fielding is something that will decide a lot of things going forward. We love travelling and playing in different parts of the game."

Like this Rohit Sharma because India are winning more convincingly in CWC '23, says Sanjay Manjrekar

India beat New Zealand by four wickets in match 21 of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 edition on Sunday (Oct 22) in Dharamsala. In a clash of the two unbeaten sides in the ten-team tournament, Rohit Sharma-led India opted to bowl first and rode on Mohammed Shami's 5 for 54 to dismiss the Kiwis for 273 in 50 overs. In reply, India completed the run-chase in 48 overs courtesy of Virat Kohli's 95, Ravindra Jadeja's 39 not out and Rohit's 46. With this win, India remain the only team to be unbeaten in the ten-team tournament whereas the Black Caps conceded their first game after a four-match winning streak.&nbsp;

After the game, Rawalpindi Express Shoaib Akhtar was in awe of Rohit-led India and feels 'there is no way that India should not be winning the World Cup'. Lauding Kohli, he said on his YouTube channel, Akhtar said, "He is someone who thrives under pressure. Pressure brings opportunities for him. And opportunities are scoring a hundred, playing match-winning knocks and getting followed on Instagram, and why not? This guy deserves it."

Akhtar emphasised on India's batting line-up and said, "Shubman Gill is enough for this New Zealand team. Had Rohit Sharma not got out casually, he is enough. If KL Rahul goes up the order to 3 or 4, even he is enough. India’s batting lineup is very lengthy.&nbsp;Everyone knows what Kohli did today, but Rahul also took the load. Suryakumar had also done so had he not got out."

Apart from Kohli, Shami -- playing his first game in the CWC 2023 edition -- also made a strong statement by returning with a five-fer. Shami got a game due to Hardik Pandya's injury but Akhtar feels he should be in the playing XI going ahead as well. In this regard, he added,&nbsp;"But in ensuring that New Zealand don’t score 300-350, Shami played a big role. He was a bit expensive, but it’s okay since he dismissed five batters. He has shown his talent and India need to persist with the same bowling attack."

Lastly, Akhtar made a big claim and said, "They have a complete batting and bowling lineup. There is no way that India should not be winning the World Cup."&nbsp;

With India remaining unbeaten after five games and sitting pretty at the top of the points table, Rohit doesn't want the team to lose steam. There is no way that India should not be winning the ODI World Cup: Shoaib Akhtar's BOLD remark

From Virat Kohli to R Ashwin: Top 6 Indian players to feature in most wins in ICC events

India was dealt with a big blow as all-rounder and vice-captain Hardik Pandya got injured during the team's ongoing clash versus Bangladesh in ICC ODI World Cup on Thursday (Oct 19) in Pune. After being asked to bowl first, Rohit Sharma-led Men in Blue were struggling to get rid of the Bangladeshi openers Litton Das and&nbsp;Tanzid Hasan when the captain turned to Hardik in the ninth over.&nbsp;

Hardik did not start well,&nbsp;conceding two back-to-back&nbsp;boundaries after a dot ball. While conceding his second four, on the third delivery, he&nbsp;tried to stop the white cherry with his right leg in his follow through and slipped. He was on the ground for quite some time and attended by the team physio before getting up. Still struggling to run, the 30-year-old walked off the field with former captain Virat Kohli completing his over. Since then, Hardik has remained out of action.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has now provided a massive update on his injury. BCCI wrote on X, formerly Twitter, "Hardik Pandya's injury is being assessed at the moment and he is being taken for scans."

Since Hardik's departure, India have managed to tighten the screws of Bangladesh with regular breakthroughs. Litton (66) and Tanzid (51) have returned to the pavillion whereas the likes of stand-in captain&nbsp;Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mehidy Hasan Miraz fell in quick succession with Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Siraj&nbsp;and Kuldeep Yadav being among wickets.&nbsp;

Rohit-led India will, however, keep a close tab on Hardik's fitness as he is extremely vital for the team's balance. So far, the veteran has picked up five wickets in three games and is a vital cog in India's batting line-up as well.&nbsp;

India vs Bangladesh, CWC '23: Concern for Rohit-led hosts? BCCI provides BIG injury update on Hardik Pandya

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) lodged a complaint to the International Cricket Council (ICC) over alleged "inappropriate crowd behaviour" during the Men in Green's clash versus India in the 2023 ODI World Cup. The match was held on Oct 14 (Saturday) in the west Indian city of Ahmedabad, where Rohit Sharma-led India thrashed Babar Azam's Pakistan by seven wickets. After PCB's complaint, former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan recalled a shocking story of being hit by a nail in India-Pakistan clash during his playing days.&nbsp;

Speaking on Star Sports, amid the ongoing India-Bangladesh tie in Pune on Thursday (Oct 19), Irfan recalled the shocking story which took place during his active days when India toured Pakistan (during 2004 and 2006).&nbsp;

<h2>'The match was halted for 10 minutes, but we did not pay any heed to it'</h2>

"We were playing a game in Peshawar, when a fan threw a nail at me, which struck me under my eye. I could have gotten seriously injured. The match was halted for 10 minutes, but we did not pay any heed to it as we were playing good cricket,” Pathan said on commentary.

After this, former Indian opener-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra took to his official account on X, formerly Twitter, to react to Irfan's revelations. He wrote, "Didn’t know that fans in Peshawar threw a nail at Irfan, which hit him under the eye. Remember the game getting stopped for a bit bcoz of fan trouble but it’s only today I got to know the exact reason. Well done."

To this, Irfan was quick to respond and replied saying, "I Would have taken to my grave brother cos I think fans are the utmost important to this game and things do happen. But the narrative is set differently now days with some ppl trying to spread unnecessary negativity for their own benefit. So i spoke. Love you brother."

Irfan shared the incident following PCB's formal complaint, raising issue on the treatment given to Pakistani cricketers during the India clash. "The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has lodged another formal protest with the ICC over delays in visas for Pakistani journalists and the absence of a visa policy for Pakistan fans for the ongoing World Cup 2023. The PCB has also filed a complaint regarding inappropriate conduct targeted at the Pakistan squad during the India vs Pakistan match held on 14 October 2023," PCB posted on X.

At present, Pakistan occupy the fourth spot in the points table with two wins and a heavy defeat versus India. The hosts, with three back-to-back wins, are at the second spot with unbeaten New Zealand on top.

SHOCKING! As PCB complains about Indian crowd in CWC '23, Irfan Pathan recalls how Pak fan threw nail at him

Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra has made a bold claim amid the ODI World Cup 2023 edition in India. Chopra feels there could be an India versus New Zealand final in the ongoing 2023 edition. The former Indian cricketer made the remark after the Kiwis won their fourth game on the trot, beating Afghanistan by 149 runs in match 16 on Wednesday (Oct 18) in Chennai.&nbsp;

The Kane Williamson-less Kiwis have been on a roll in the current edition. The Black Caps have won their opening four games and will now take on India on Sunday (Oct 22) in Dharamshala. They entered the ten-team tournament with several injury concerns. Regular captain Kane Williamson missed the first two games (with a knee injury), played the third and is once again out of action with a thumb injury. Meanwhile,&nbsp;Tim Southee is yet to play --&nbsp;also dealing with&nbsp;a thumb&nbsp;injury. However, the Black Caps continue to win and move forward courtesy of contributions from Mitchell Santner, stand-in skipper Tom Latham, Matt Henry, Devon Conway, Rachin Ravindra, etc.

<h2>'Not a big deal that it could be an India-New Zealand final'</h2>

Thus, Chopra said on his YouTube channel, "They are an amazing team and I feel it's not a big deal that it could be an India-New Zealand final. They have won four out of four and the semi-final berth is almost confirmed. It is such a good team that it doesn't make a difference to them whether Kane (Williamson) is there or not. They figure out a way to win."

In Chennai, New Zealand were struggling at 110 for 4 after being 109 for 1, being asked to bat by the Afghans. Nonetheless, Glenn Phillips (71) and Latham (68) and Mark Chapman (12-ball 25*) took them to 288 for 6 after Will Young (54) set the tone for the side. With the ball, Santner and Lockie Ferguson's three-fers each dismissed the Afghans for 139 in 34.4 overs.&nbsp;

Chopra lauded Kiwis for managing a mini-collapse and feels they are&nbsp;finding players who can bail them out of crisis regularly.&nbsp;He opined, "Kane wasn't there and there was a collapse in the middle, Azmatullah Omarzai dismissed two players in an over, but Tom Latham and Glenn Phillips came there. Will Young was there with Rachin Ravindra at the start. Conway also scored a few runs. Once you reach 280-plus, runs are not scored that easily here."

The former Indian opener also praised Kiwis bowling attack and added, "In bowling, Trent Boult with the new ball and Matt Henry with his incoming delivery. Lockie Ferguson is actually breathing fire. The guy bowls amazingly well. He dismisses batters by scaring and threatening them."

Despite all the injury crisis, the Tom Latham-led NZ have kept the winning run intact and are one of the strongest contenders to life the title, after missing out in the 2015 and 2019 editions by a whisker (ending as&nbsp;runners-up twice).&nbsp;

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma-led India are also on fire with three straight wins and have locked horns with Bangladesh on Thursday (Oct 19) at the MCA Stadium in Pune. They will next meet New Zealand on Sunday in Dharamshala.

It could be India vs New Zealand in CWC '23 final: Former Indian opener makes BOLD claim

Former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar feels Rohit Sharma-led India won't make the mistake of taking Bangladesh lightly ahead of the two teams' face-off in match 17 of the ODI World Cup on Thursday (Oct 19) in Pune. The two Asian sides will lock horns at the MCA Stadium in Pune, where the World Cup returns after 27 years.

Bangar feels India-Bangladesh games have often gone down to the wire and, hence, the in-form Rohit-led Men in Blue won't take Shakib Al Hasan-led Bangla Tigers lightly.

Bangar said on Star Sports ahead of the game, "Tight game. I mean India, Bangladesh are always tight games. In the World Cup 2015, they met us in the quarterfinals. It was a close game. Even in the 2019 World Cup, they came very close to chasing 310 odd, fell short by 30. So India will have to be at their best. Asia Cup (2012), they beat the Indian team, although it was a second-string Indian team. But Indian team knows that they can't take this game lightly because they would certainly want to catch up with New Zealand and maintain their position right at the top."

Bangladesh have not had a good run so far in the 2023 edition. They started off with a six-wicket win over Afghanistan but lost to England and New Zealand convincingly. While they don't have a good head-to-head record versus India overall (8-31) and even in ODI World Cups (1-3), they have beaten India thrice in the last five encounters.

Talking about the CWC 2023 edition, not many games have been closely-fought but the ongoing tournament has already seen two big upsets with Afghanistan beating defending champions England&nbsp;in match 13 in New Delhi on Sunday (Oct 15), whereas the Netherlands also defeated title-contenders South Africa in match 15 in Dharamshala on Tuesday (Oct 17).

Thus, India will surely not take Bangladesh lightly -- who defeated them once in the 2007 edition.

World Cup 2023: India know they cannot take Bangladesh lightly, reckons former Indian batting coach

Former Indian opener Sunil Gavaskar feels India can give Jasprit Bumrah a break in the upcoming Bangladesh clash in the ODI World Cup 2023 edition, on Thursday (Oct 19) at the MCA Stadium in Pune. Gavaskar has suggested the Rohit Sharma-Rahul Dravid-led Indian thinktank to bring in Mohammed Shami in place of Bumrah.

<h2>'Just a couple of days gap between Bangladesh and New Zealand face-off'</h2>

In an interaction with India Today, Gavaskar said, "I think Shami is someone who they have to bring into the team, because the next match in Dharamsala, in conditions which will assist a fast bowler. You need Jasprit Bumrah to be 100 percent there. Also, there is a just a couple of days gap between the game against Bangladesh in Pune and New Zealand in Dharamsala. There is going to be a change in weather also. Ideally, I think Jasprit Bumrah be given a bit of break and then maybe Shami comes in."

The Little Master further added, "You really are not losing anything with Shami coming back in the team. Siraj had a bit of a breather against the Australians in the 3-match series before the World Cup. Shami coming in against Bangladesh is something that the think tank might think of."

So far, Bumrah has been in top form in the ongoing World Cup at home. In the three games, he has churned out eight wickets and was adjudged the Player-of-the-Match for his 2 for 19 versus Pakistan. Shami, on the other hand, has not got a game and will be desperate to be included in the final XI.&nbsp;

Ahead of the India-Bangladesh tie, India's bowling coach Paras&nbsp;Mhambrey lavished huge praise on Bumrah in the pre-match presser and said, "You have seen him in the last three games that he has played, what he brings to the table, he is a world-class bowler. He gives you that breakthrough that you require in the power plays. He's well adapted to bowl in the middle overs and he's a top gun dead bowler."&nbsp;

Mhambrey hinted that India are likely to go unchanged in the game versus the Bangla Tigers.

CWC '23: Rest Bumrah, bring in Shami - Sunil Gavaskar wants India to ring in one change for Bangladesh tie

India's bowling coach Paras Mhambrey hailed R Ashwin ahead of India's upcoming clash versus Bangladesh in match 17 of the ODI World Cup 2023 edition on Thursday (Oct 19) in Pune. Ashwin was drafted into India's final 15-member squad after Axar Patel's injury sidelined him from the mega event. Ashwin was part of India's squad for their last series in the run-up to the World Cup, where they faced Australia in the three ODIs (winning 2-1). The wily off-spinner ended with four wickets in two games and eventually became part of the World Cup squad.&nbsp;

Ashwin played India's tournament opener in the ODI World Cup, where they faced Australia in Chennai. Since then, he has been warming the bench as Shardul Thakur has been preferred over him. Mhambrey opened up on Ashwin not getting a chance due to the team combination and hailed him&nbsp;saying 'he is a great team guy'.&nbsp;

In the pre-match presser, in Pune, Mhambrey said, "It's a really tough one. When you have a world-class bowler (like Ashwin) in your 15, and you are unable to give him a game. It's a tough call and you have to take such calls. I think the conversation has always been team-centric. All the decisions that we have taken, not only before this game but over the last few years are based on the team. We go with the side that's best for the surface, and the best combination."

Mhambrey lauded Ashwin and stated, "And in that sense, he has been a great lad, he understands that. He is a great team guy. I have never seen him grumpy, never seen him complaining anytime for any of the last few years, he has been with us. Having someone like that really helps. And I think credit goes to him. Even after so many years, he is there, he wants to do well for the team, he turns up every practice session, goes through the rigours, and he keeps bowling. He is a great team man. I must compliment that."

Mhambrey, who joined the support staff in 2021, also opened up on Mohammed Shami not getting a chance in the home World Cup so far. "Honestly, it's never an easy decision. But I think we had a clear chat with him (Shami), whenever we select a squad, the messages from us are very clear. We pick a squad which feel is best for that wicket. Sometimes, you will miss out. Someone like him will miss out, someone like Ash will miss out, that's a communication that we have with him. That's very clear. It's a difficult decision with the quality that he brings to the team with the new ball, at the death. No doubt, it's a difficult decision but you have to take that call. You only have 11 on the field," he added.&nbsp;

Rohit Sharma-led India are at the top in the points table with three straight wins.&nbsp;

He is a great team man. I must compliment that." Mhambrey, who joined the support staff in 2021, also opened up on Mohammed Shami not getting a chance in the home World Cup so far. "Honestly, it's never an easy decision. But I think we had a clear chat with him (Shami), whenever we select a squad, the messages from us are very clear. We pick a squad which feel is best for that wicket. Sometimes, you will miss out. Someone like him will miss out, someone like Ash will miss out, that's a communication that we have with him. That's very clear. It's a difficult decision with the quality that he brings to the team with the new ball, at the death. No doubt, it's a difficult decision but you have to take that call. You only have 11 on the field," he added. Rohit Sharma-led India are at the top in the points table with three straight wins. CWC '23: Have never seen Ashwin grumpy after being benched - India's bowling coach lauds star spinner

Rohit Sharma-led India have been in top form in the ongoing ICC ODI World Cup 2023 edition at home. After three games, the Men in Blue have&nbsp;equal number of wins and&nbsp;are at the top in the points table. So far, India have beaten Australia, Afghanistan and Pakistan and will now face Bangladesh in match 17 of the ten-team tournament at the MCA Stadium in Pune on Thursday (Oct 19). Ahead of the India-Bangladesh tie, former Indian all-rounder Irfan Khan has lavished praise on Rohit. Irfan feels Rohit has been displaying the most aggressive approach among all captains in the competition.

Speaking on Star Sports, Irfan opined on Rohit&nbsp;defending in the net session, in Pune,&nbsp;something he hasn't done in the matches so far. To this, he said, "This is a backfoot punch for four. It is his timing. He is in very good form. The way he is leaving deliveries, it means he is not just coming and playing carelessly in the nets, and just playing the big shots." He further opined, "He is going with full confidence into the practice but is still respecting the balls that need to be respected, but Rohit Sharma has adopted the most aggressive approach among all captains in this World Cup, which is not easy."

Irfan added, "We won't get tired of praising him because he deserves praise considering the responsibility he has shouldered. He is playing shots extremely easily. You might see defensive as well as big shots in practice, but he will keep his attacking approach in the match. All batters and bowlers you saw in practice, they were looking in great control when they were practicing and I was seeing them on the ground as well. They were relaxed and played foot volleyball for half an hour before the Pakistan match."

Rohit has been in top form both as captain and player in the home ODI World Cup. He has made some good bowling changes, been at-par with his team combination and has scored 217 runs in three outings -- including a hundred and a fifty. After falling for a duck in India's tournament-opener, versus Australia, he has played aggressively from the word go versus the Afghans and arch-rivals Pakistan to set the tone for the team.&nbsp;

Rohit-led India will now face the Bangla Tigers on Thursday (Oct 19) in Pune and hope to make it four wins on the trot in the tournament.&nbsp;

Netherlands beat South Africa by 38 runs in match 15 of the ongoing ICC ODI World Cup 2023 edition on Tuesday (Oct 17). Locking horns at the&nbsp;Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala, the Dutch rode on captain Scott Edwards' 69-ball 78 not out to post a challenging 245 for 8 in a 43-over contest. In reply, South Africa were always on the back foot. They were reduced to 44 for 4 and were bundled out for 207 in 42.5 overs to lose by 38 runs (DLS method) in what is certainly one of the biggest upsets in World Cup history.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Among the Dutch bowlers, the likes of&nbsp;Logan van Beek (3 for 60),&nbsp;Paul van Meekeren (2 for 40),&nbsp;Roelof van der Merwe (2 for 34) and&nbsp;Bas de Leede (2 for 36) dismantled the Proteas' batting line-up and helped their side to a famous win; their first-ever against a Test-playing nation in World Cup history. Since then, many former cricketers and experts of the game have lauded the Dutch side for their emphatic performance. Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar also joined the bandwagon and shared a heartfelt post on X, formerly Twitter, for Edwards &amp; Co.&nbsp;

Tendulkar wrote, "This World Cup is throwing up interesting results! Was nice to see the Netherlands Captain Scott Edwards lead from the front with a fighting knock after they were 140/7 at one stage. What pleased me the most about them in the field was how they put the SA batters under pressure by not giving easy singles. A win and a night to remember for them!"

We do a fair bit of research. We come up with a few matchups. Some days it works and some days it doesn't. We were in decent positions in the first few games but then fell away. I am sure there will be plenty of fans staying up and watching this. Extremely happy with the win."

Sachin Tendulkar heaps praise on Netherlands after impressive win over South Africa in CWC '23

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has slammed Babar Azam-led Pakistan's batting unit after their horror show versus arch-rivals India in match 12 of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 edition. The sides met each other on Saturday (Oct 14) at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium, Ahmedabad where India opted to bowl first.&nbsp;

From 155 for 2, Pakistan slipped to 191 all-out in 42.5 overs with Jasprit Bumrah (2 for 19), Kuldeep Yadav (2 for 35) and the likes of Md Siraj, Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya claiming two wickets apiece. In reply, India made a mockery of the low total and chased it down in 30.3 overs to win by seven wickets in hand.

After yet another defeat to India in ODI World Cup history, Ganguly has come hard at the Pakistani batters. He was quoted as saying by Times Now, "During our time, Pakistan was a different team, this is not the type of Pakistan team we used to play. This team can’t handle the pressure during the batting. It will be hard for Pakistan to come back in this World Cup with this batting."

Further, Ganguly lauded Team India and said, "Rohit (86) played superbly against Pakistan. India’s every department is doing well. Batting, bowling and fielding is firing together and at the right time."

Pakistan have a very poor Net Run Rate (NRR) --&nbsp;-0.137 -- following the India defeat. They will try to regroup and asses their mistakes before taking on five-time winners Australia in match 18 of the ongoing edition at the M Chinnaswammy Stadium in Bengaluru on Friday (Oct 20).&nbsp;

Rohit Sharma-led unbeaten India are at the top in the points table with three straight wins and will face Bangladesh in match 17 on Thursday (Oct 19) at the MCA Stadium in Pune.
