India's hopes of making it to the semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2021 rests on the fate of Aghanistan's final Super 12 clash against New Zealand in Abu Dhabi on Sunday (November 07). If Afghanistan lose against New Zealand, India will be out of the race for the semis even before they take the field in their last Super 12 game against Namibia on Monday.

The equation is a tricky one for India as they will depend on the result of the Afghanistan-New Zealand game to salvage their chance of finishing in the top two in their group. If Afghanistan beat New Zealand, India will have to ensure they defeat Namibia by a big margin to keep their net run rate better than Afghanistan to finish second behind top-ranked Pakistan.

India thrashed Scotland by 8 wickets in their penultimate group stage game on Friday to keep their top-four hopes alive. India bundled out the minnows for a paltry 85 and chased down the target in just 39 balls to get their net run rate above Afghanistan and New Zealand. India now have two wins in a row and will be hoping for Afghanistan to hand them a lifeline in the tournament.

After India's dominant 8-wicket win against Scotland on Friday, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja came up with a cheeky response to a reporter's question about the Afghanistan-New Zealand game. The journalist had asked Jadeja what will the Indian team do if New Zealand beat Afghanistan?

"There are talks going around that if New Zealand lost to Afghanistan, our chances brighten. But what if New Zealand don't lose to Afghanistan?" - the journalist asked Jadeja in the post-match press conference.

"Toh phir... bag pack karke ghar Jayenge, aur kya? (What else? Pack our bags and head home)," Jadeja replied.

Afghanistan have so far registered big wins against Scotland and Namibia but lost against Pakistan and India. They did give Pakistan a close fight and almost pulled off a win before Asif Ali's cameo took the game away from them.

The Mohammad Nabi-led side will be hoping to beat New Zealand which will not only keep India in the tournament but also give Afghanistan a chance to become the second team from the Group 2 to qualify for the semifinals.

Video: Ravindra Jadeja's reaction goes viral after unsuccessful catch attempt; netizens hail his athleticism

After losing to arch-rivals Pakistan and New Zealand in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup in as many matches played so far, the Virat Kohli-led Indian team is currently in dire straits with hopes of making it to the semi-final hanging by a thread. The players have been criticised by former cricketers to critics to pundits for their overall show, with the skipper Kohli facing maximum heat.

Now, the Indian vice-captain Rohit Sharma has showered praises Virat, with a special mention on how he has evolved as a cricketer. Ahead of India's crunch game against Afghanistan, the International Cricket Council (ICC) posted a video on its social media handle, which featured Rohit, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja and Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell.

Players in the video have talked about all things nice, hailing Virat as a cricketer and his success, but what Rohit has to say, grabbed eyeballs as their relationship has often been shadowed by talks and rumours about rift and rivalry.

In the video, Rohit said, "His hunger for success is just unbelievable. It’s not so easy to go out there and do it consistently which he has done, so well."

"When he came in 2008 and he has evolved as a cricketer since then, I mean over the years he has added a little-little cent to his game and he has just evolved every year. All those years as I see, you know, he has put his best foot forward," he added.

Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni became the first captain to lead a side in 300 T20 matches during CSK's Indian Premier League 2021 final clash against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Friday (October 15) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai. Apart from Dhoni, Daren Sammy (208) is the only other player to have captained teams in more than 200 T20s. The match against KKR is also the ninth IPL final for Dhoni as a CSK leader.

Reflecting on the same, Dhoni during the toss said, "It's been a long time. We started T20 in around 2005-06 and most of the games have been franchise cricket and in the last five years there have been a lot of T20 games in international cricket as well."

Apart from Dhoni, two other CSK players have also made a milestone in the IPL 2021 final clash and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and the South African batter Faf du Plessis are playing their 200th and 100th IPL match, respectively.

MS Dhoni-led CSK has won the IPL title thrice and after putting on a dismal show in the 2020 season in UAE, the side made a remarkable comeback this year and some fearless cricket from the franchise has seen Dhoni's men reach the finals.

Dhoni might have managed to score just 114 runs from 15 matches this season, but he rose like a phoenix when the team needed him most and his best knock came in Qualifier 1 against Delhi Capitals.

He scored 18 runs from six balls, rolling back time, giving fans a perfect nostalgia trip as the Chennai franchise roared into the final. His innings even got Virat Kohli to label Dhoni as the "greatest finisher ever".

Moving to KKR, Eoin Morgan's side was completely down and out in the India leg as the side had won just two games out of seven. However, travelling to the UAE brought about a change in fortunes.

Michael Vaughan predicts winner of IPL 2021, names Player of the Match

Vintage MS Dhoni produced a thrilling finish as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) by four wickets in the first Qualifier of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 on Sunday (October 10) to become the first team to seal a spot in the final of the tournament. Dhoni played a quickfire cameo of 6-ball 18 to help CSK chase down the target of 173 runs with two balls to spare and take his team into the final.

Dhoni rolled back the clock with his heroics as he once again soaked up the pressure in a tense situation and took CSK over the line in what was an epic run-chase. The CSK skipper was out of form throughout the season and many didn't expect him to come above Ravindra Jadeja in the 173-run chase with the Men in Yellow needing 24 runs to win from eleven balls.

However, the CSK skipper promoted himself above Jadeja and finished the game by scoring 18 runs off just six deliveries with the help of three fours and a six. CSK head coach Stephen Fleming revealed he had a long chat with Dhoni during the run-chase and the look in the CSK skipper's eye stopped Fleming from questioning him when he decided to walk in to bat and take it upon himself to finish the game for his side.

Providing insights of what unfolded in the CSK dressing room before Dhoni walked out to bat, Fleming said it was the longest he had spoken to Dhoni during the run-chase than he has in a long time.

“There was a lot of chat. We spoke more in those 20 overs than we have for a long time. There was a lot of technical discussion and maneuvering to try and work out how this was going to unfold. When the captain got looked in his eyes, he said 'I’ll go'; it’s been well-documented the times that he has done that. Today was one of those. I ain’t holding him back, and we saw the result of that,” Fleming said in the post-match presser.

Dhoni missed the first ball he faced against DC pacer Avesh Khan before slamming a six on the next ball. He then smashed three fours against Tom Curran in the final over to take CSK over the line and confirm their spot in the final. Fleming said it was emotionally great to see Dhoni finish another game for CSK despite being out of form and age not being on his side anymore.

“It was emotionally great for us. We wish him every time he goes out. We know the pressure he has and the expectation there is on him. Again, he came up trumps for us. It was emotional in many ways, and was very important. And the captain had the opportunity to do that for us,” said the CSK head coach.

IPL 2021: CSK captain MS Dhoni equals Ravindra Jadeja in elite list after Qualifier 1 blitz vs DC

MS Dhoni has been in poor form throughout the ongoing IPL 2021 edition. While his bat remained silent during the first leg in India early this year, he was expected to deliver in the second and final leg in the UAE. However, nothing of that sort as happened as the 40-year-old has struggled to keep the runs coming from his willow.

The 40-year-old has amassed only 96 runs, in 101 balls, at an average of 13.71 and strike-rate of 95.04. Nonetheless, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain surprised one and all as he came out to bat in front of in-form Ravindra Jadeja in the Yellow Army's previous two games -- versus Delhi Capitals (DC) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) -- when the three-time champions had lost wickets in quick succession with plenty of overs to play.

Dhoni returned with scores of 18 (27) and 12 (15) in CSK's last two encounters and, hence, former Pakistan skipper Salman Butt has slammed the CSK captain. "Why is MS Dhoni coming before Ravindra Jadeja, who is batting so well? Bravo, Jadeja both are hitting so well. Dhoni will be [a] mentor, will not play for India, so it doesn't make any sense of him coming before Jadeja. You are now into the playoffs, why don't you give him more practice. It's beyond comprehension, I don't know what he is thinking and why he is doing this," Butt said on his YouTube channel.

'Don't know what he's thinking...' - Salman Butt slams MS Dhoni for batting ahead of Ravindra Jadeja for CSK

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) made their way back to the IPL in the 2018 edition, after their two-year suspension on account of the infamous spot-fixing scandal. Since then, the MS Dhoni-led franchise have remained one of the most consistent sides -- like they were before the suspension -- but endured a forgettable campaign in IPL 2020. Nonetheless, the Yellow Army continue to be one of the most-followed IPL franchises to date. Since their return, they have added one more trophy to their cabinet (in 2018) and plethora of fans worldwide.

Not Ravindra Jadeja! Gautam Gambhir picks MS Dhoni-led CSK's standout player since their IPL return in 2018

Former England captain Michael Vaughan has heaped praise on Team India and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja after his bowling heroics against Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 on Monday. While he didn't get a chance to impress with the bat, Jadeja produced an impressive spell with the ball to finish with figures of 2/28 in his four overs against Delhi Capitals.

Vaughan, who is a huge admirer of Jadeja, hailed the Team India and CSK superstar as the perfect T20 cricketer. The former England captain said Jadeja is a magnificent fielder, can bowl well and can play the role of an anchor as well as an aggressor with the bat as per the situation.

"He is an unbelievable fielder, he can bowl brilliant left-arm spin, if there is an element of turn in the surface, he is as good as any. Obviously, with the bat, he can play the anchor role if you lose early wickets, he can also come in with 15 balls to go and pretty much go on from ball 01. He is the perfect T20 cricketer," Vaughan said on Cricbuzz.

Jadeja has been terrific so far for CSK with the bat and the ball. He has been excellent as a finisher in the death over and has taken the bowlers to the cleaners on a regular basis. Jadeja has scored as many as 65 runs in just 21 balls in the final over of CSK's innings this season. He has notched up 212 runs and picked up ten wickets in 13 matches for CSK so far in IPL 2021.

Lauding Jadeja for his all-round skills, Vaughan said Jadeja is someone who offers everything and is an ideal cricketer for the shortest format of the game.

Ravindra Jadeja is the perfect T20 cricketer, he offers you everything: Michael Vaughan lauds CSK all-rounder

Former Indian cricketer-turned-commentator Sanjay Manjrekar has once again taken a shot at Ravindra Jadeja's batting abilities. For the unversed, Jadeja has been in top form in the IPL 2021 edition, in the UAE, with the bat and has done decently with the ball as well. However, Manjrekar feels Jadeja has got the runs mainly versus the medium-pacers.

Speaking to ESPNCricinfo, Manjrekar pointed out, "I am still not convinced about Jadeja's batting, especially the role CSK has given him. If he gets the same role in every match, will he be able to continue with his performances against the quality pace bowlers or not? Because so far, he has pounced on bowlers like Prasidh Krishna and Harshal Patel. It remains to be seen whether he will be as attacking as well against the quick pacers who try to attack him."

However, Manjrekar feels Jadeja got it easy by targetting medium pacer Prasidh Krishna. Even in the first leg, Jadeja had gone bonkers versus Royal Challengers Bangalore's (RCB) in-form pacer Harshal Patel; smashing him for 37 runs in a single over (including a no-ball).

INDvsENG: Key takeaways from India's 157-run victory over England in 4th Test at The Oval

Skipper Virat Kohli praised the team's "character" after India registered a thumping victory by 157 runs on Monday (September 6) against England in the fourth Test at The Oval to take an unassailable 2-1 lead in the five-match series.

England were chasing a record victory target of 368 and made a promising start (Rory Burns (50) & Haseeb Hameed (63)) but suffered a spectacular batting collapse after the lunch break on the final day.

While speaking during the post-match presentation, Virat said, "I think the best thing about both the games has been the character the team has showed. We are not looking to survive in this game, we are here to win. Really proud of the character the team has showed."

Spinner Ravindra Jadeja and fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah both struck twice in a spectacular collapse that saw the hosts lose four wickets for six runs in 36 balls.

Paceman Umesh Yadav, who took 3-60, cleaned up the tail and ended the match when James Anderson was caught behind.

Talking about the playing conditions, Virat said, "The conditions were hot and we knew were in with an opportunity when Jadeja was bowling in the rough. The bowlers were good with the reverse swing today."

"We believed we could get all 10 wickets, we had the belief. As soon as the ball started revering, Bumrah said give me the ball. He bowled that spell and swung the game in our favour with those two huge wickets. I think you pointed his performance," he added.

In the second innings, Indian opener Rohit Sharma made 127, his first overseas Test hundred as the tourists piled up 466 in their second innings, having conceded a first-innings lead of 99.

Virat praised Rohit's batting and also gave the due credit to Shardul Thakur, who contributed some crucial runs, he said, "Rohit's innings was fantastic. What Shardul has done in this game stands out. His two fifties deflated the opposition. I think he batted well in both the innings."

On being asked about the playing XI of team India, especially the much-debated snub of a second spinner (Ravichandran Ashwin), Virat said, "We never go towards analysis, statistics and numbers. We know what we need to focus on and we take a collective decision as a group. We take a call on what feels best and we believe we can win Tests with it. Whatever the noise on the outside, it doesn't bother us."

Virat also mentioned head coach Ravi Shastri, who is tested positive for COVID-19 and will miss the fifth and final Test at Manchester. He said, "It's unfortunate they are not here. Everyone is happy with the win. It gives us more motivation to win the next Test. We have the belief, we are just looking forward to the opportunities. The fans have been amazing as well."

Shastri, along with other members of the support staff have reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 in RT-PCR tests as well, which was done on Sunday (September 5). Apart from Shastri, bowling coach Bharat Arun and fielding coach R Sridhar have also returned positive PCR tests.

Really proud of the character the team has showed." Talking about the playing conditions, Virat said, "The conditions were hot and we knew were in with an opportunity when Jadeja was bowling in the rough. The bowlers were good with the reverse swing today." "We believed we could get all 10 wickets, we had the belief. England spinner Moeen Ali has named the "biggest threat" after Virat Kohli-led team India set a mammoth target against England in the fourth Test of a five-match series, thanks to Rohit Sharma's sublime century in the second innings. He top-scored with 127 — the opener's first overseas hundred and put on 153 for the second wicket with Cheteshwar Pujara (61).

Importannt to note here that England's highest fourth-innings winning total was the Ben Stokes-inspired 362-9 against Australia at Headingley in 2019, with their highest victorious chase at the Oval the 263-9 they made against Australia back in 1902.

After England openers gave a required start, the hosts were 77-0 at the close of the fourth day, needing a further 291 runs to reach a daunting target of 368 after India had piled up 466 in their second innings.

As the match currently stands at a situation, where anything is difficult to predict, however, England spinner Moeen Ali opened up on England chances and which player will be the biggest threat for the hosts.

While speaking to Sky Sports, Ali said that India always "fight back strongly" and that is something the England team are going to have to be wary about.

"Jasprit Bumrah is one of those bowlers that can make anything happen but Jadeja is the biggest threat on that wicket. It's such a flat wicket but we're still going to have to play well. India always fight back strongly and that's something we're going to have to be wary about," Ali said.

"I thought the boys batted excellently. We knew if we get through the first 10 to 15 overs, the two guys who are in are very disciplined. They've done it before in the series when they put on an amazing partnership, so hopefully, they can do it again tomorrow," he added.

Chris Woakes also insisted that England could pull off a record run chase ahead of what promises to be a thrilling last day.

"This team has done special things over the last few years. We've got the belief we can go and get the win," Woakes told reporters.

"A lot of hard work still needs to be done. You can draw on those experiences, looking at what we are capable of. It's about belief.

"Everyone will agree that we can go and get the runs -- there will be no doubts about that."

Sanjay Manjrekar-Ravindra Jadeja face-off isn't unknown to the cricketing fraternity. Manjrekar had commented on Jadeja's all-round abilities during the 2019 ODI World Cup, which wasn't received well by the Indian cricketer. Even during the semi-final of the marquee event, the left-hander looked up towards Manjrekar with an animated and aggressive gesture after reaching his fifty, at the commentary box, to question his statement.

Since then, Manjrekar's comments on Jadeja have always gone viral. After Virat Kohli-led India promoted the all-rounder at No. 5, instead of under-fire Ajinkya Rahane, on Day 1 of the fourth Test versus England, the former cricketer-turned-commentator once again passed a comment on Jadeja and his batting abilities overseas.

Speaking to Sony Six, Manjrekar said, "I think the T20 Way of thinking has come in. I think they overestimated the ability of Jadeja to play at No. 5. In these conditions, it was a disaster waiting for him. I think Indian cricket is overestimating Jadeja's batting ability in overseas conditions. In India, send him at No. 5, there is going to be no problem. In these conditions, we saw while he was out there when the ball was swinging, he didn't look comfortable."

After being asked to bat first, Kohli & Co. struggled once again as the in-form openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul departed soon whereas Cheteshwar Pujara fell for 4. Jadeja came in at No. 5 and couldn't do much with the bat as he went back for 10.

He wasn't comfortable in the middle against the English pacers and was found wanting in the swinging conditions. He has, however, made a mark in the series with some vital performances down the order at No. 7.

Talking about Day 1, India posted 191 courtesy fifties from Virat Kohli and Shardul Thakur. In reply, England are 53-3 at stumps.

Moeen Ali has been named the vice-captain of England ahead of the fourth Test against India. The all-rounder replaced wicketkeeper Jos Buttler, who was given a paternity break due to the birth of his second child.

Ali called it a huge honour serving as the deputy to Joe Root. "It's amazing. To captain or vice-captain England in any form is huge and I'm very excited. I'm obviously not hoping for Joe to go off the field but if he does go off, I'm looking forward to the role," Ali said during a press conference on the eve of the fourth Test.

"That's the beauty of sport in one way but I also know that Jos would have done it if I weren't. Things can change quickly and to be given the role is great. I do speak a lot to the players and we bounce ideas off each other."

Moeen Ali talked about R Ashwin warming the benches for the three test matches, and also lauded Jadeja for his skills.

"Most grounds in England spin a little bit anyway, some obviously more than others but there's always a bit of spin. Ashwin... yeah, I think a little bit maybe. I also feel Jadeja is an amazing cricketer; one of my favourite cricketers in the world. I would always have him in my team no matter what. India after winning at Lord's would have gone ahead with four seamers. I thought he did a great job. I'm sure Ashwin has been and will be considered going in tomorrow," Ali added.

Ahead of the fourth and penultimate Test between India and England, at Kennington Oval, London from September 2, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja won hearts with his gesture for England captain Michael Vaughan. Jadeja shared his Test jersey with the former English skipper for a charity cause.

Jadeja's jersey was signed by all the Indian players and was sent to Vaughan. The Englishman, on the other hand, shared the jersey on his official Instagram handle and lauded the superstar cricketer.

Vaughan took to his Instagram story to share a picture of Jadeja's jersey, thanked the all-rounder for his wonderful gesture and wrote, "Cheers @ravindra.jadeja, will make lots of money for a charity”.

Talking about the Indian all-rounder, the 32-year-old Jadeja had gone to the hospital following India's heavy defeat to England in the third Test on Saturday (August 28), for precautionary scans after concerns over knee injury. No official update has come regarding the spin-bowling all-rounder's injury so far.

So far, Jadeja has featured in all three Tests versus England. While the left-hander has looked in decent touch with the bat, adding vital runs for India lower down the order, the spinner has managed only two wickets in three Tests.

It will be interesting to see if the Virat Kohli-led Team India retain him in the playing XI for the fourth and penultimate Test or go ahead with two spinners, in R Ashwin and Jadeja. India can also field Shardul Thakur or Hanuma Vihari incase Jadeja is ruled out.

Ravindra Jadeja wins hearts! All-rounder gifts his Test jersey signed by Team India players to Michael Vaughan for charity

Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was taken to the hospital as he underwent scans on his knee at the end of the third Test of the ongoing five-match series against England at Leeds on Saturday (August 28).

As per Sarandeep, if the conditions at the Ageas Bowl are overcast then Virat and Co. might go ahead with an extra pacer to bolster the bowling attack.

"If conditions are overcast, then you can play an extra fast bowler after Ishant Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami,” Sarandeep told PTI.

The former off-spinner surprisingly picked Shardul Thakur, over Mohammed Siraj as Team India's fourth bowler.

“My pick would be Shardul though Siraj has also done very well,” he said.

"You will need batting options in the lower order and Shardul gives you that. The ball will do a bit at Southampton and Shardul is good at swinging the ball. He has years of experience in domestic cricket and has a very sharp cricketing mind,” he added.

Sarandeep also felt that if Team India play with four pacers then Ravichandran Ashwin will fill in the spot of the lone spinner.

"If a fourth pacer is picked, then Jadeja, unfortunately, will have to sit out. Ashwin should play as there are quite a few left-handers in the New Zealand side," Sarandeep said.

“If I was in the team management, I would play both Ashwin and Jadeja. They can be a huge factor,” Maninder told Hindustan Times in an interview.

“There is going to be wear and tear anywhere as the Test match progresses. I keep talking to my friends there (in England) and they say it has become hot, these summer temperatures will soar. So if it is going to be the way it is then moisture won’t be that be effective. The pitch will dry out and spinners will start getting purchase and both are spinners are of good quality,” he added.

The spin duo has featured only once together in an overseas Test for Team India, which was played in 2014.

Ravindra Jadeja has proved his worth with not only the bowl but also with the bat. “Jadeja’s recent form with the bat has been exceptional. He has worked on his batting a lot. He gives you an extra option of having another bowler. The confidence of scoring runs has rubbed off on his bowling.”

Ashwin too has been prolific in with the bowl. The spinner has 14 scalps in six Test matches played in England.

“Ashwin is a class act. Ashwin has improved a lot and he can now get you wickets on any track, which was not the case when he first started touring overseas. “We’ve seen how Ashwin bowls on Indian pitches. He has got to have that approach. When he bowls his aim should always be to get wickets. I have never had any doubt in my mind that he will give you wickets even on foreign soils. It depends on the team management. On Kohli and Shastri... How they keep motivating him. They've got to tell him 'you are going to get wickets for us.' Ravi Shastri has been brilliant in managing the players so far. He’ll have to go the extra mile if they want to win this WTC title.

Kevin Pietersen feels that Jack Leach and Dom Bess are not Test match spinners. "Leach is not a Test match spinner and Bess is not a Test match spinner. I wrote nearly two years ago that I hope Leach doesn't get remembered for Specsavers adverts because it’s about winning Test matches," Pietersen pointed out. "Unfortunately, I was right, because he’s not good enough. He hasn't bowled any teams out, he hasn't bowled England to glory in Tests like Panesar and Swann used to do," he signed off.

Cricket- 'He's an absolute superstar': Kevin Pietersen lauds Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja is without a doubt truly outstanding, if not the best, fielders in global cricket right now. He is set to go to England where his fortunes drastically changed for great in 2018. From being out of the group in Tests and ODIs, Ravindra Jadeja is currently one of the key all-design players of this group that needs to win the World Test Championship.

In a talk with The Indian Express, Jadeja illuminates how he turned into an attacking batsman, his sizzling fielding, his early stages in bowling.

"Honestly, those one-and-a-half years were filled with sleepless nights. Through that phase, I remember I would be up till 4-5 am. I would be thinking about what to do, how am I going to bounce back? I couldn’t sleep. I would be lying down. I was in the Test squad but not playing as we played a lot overseas. I wasn’t playing ODIs. I wasn’t playing domestic too as I would be traveling with the Indian team though not playing. I wasn’t getting any opportunity to prove myself. I would keep thinking about how I am going to come back."

Ravindra Jadeja on the Oval Test where he scored 86 runs in the first innings:

"That Test changed everything for me. My performance, my confidence, everything. When you score in English conditions against the best bowling attack, it greatly impacts your confidence. It makes you feel your technique is good enough to score anywhere in the world. Later, Hardik Pandya got injured and I made my ODI comeback. From then on, my game has been going well, touchwood."

Ravindra Jadeja's this picture has been based on the rear of countless game-evolving run-outs and stupendous catches, the kudos for which regularly goes to his well-honed expectation abilities. Ravindra Jadeja saw that expectation is the distinction between 'easy' catches for him and 'blinders' for different fielders. He added that his abilities are only a mix of experience and sharpness.

"I know my anticipation is very good in a match situation. I don’t know what others think about before the ball comes, but personally, after playing so many years, I know what the release shot of different batsmen is. And I can tell from how he is playing, where the ball is going to go. I have that extra fraction of a second and I move there quickly. So, at times, you will see me getting into positions and take ‘easy’ catches, but I know if it were someone else, it would have been a blinder as he hasn’t moved across quickly in anticipation" - he said.

"It does feel good when I am appreciated for my fielding, they might not see my hard work, but they know it. When I drop catches also, people don’t criticize, it’s more like, ‘hota hai, it happens" - he added.

When requested to uncover the 'secret' of his ability, Ravindra Jadeja said it was a blend of his dad's qualities and a great deal of constancy. He asserted that had he not filled in as hard as he has, his shoulders would have surrendered at this point. Jadeja additionally credited his prosperity to youth mentor Mahendra Singh Chauhan.

"You must ask my papa. I have his genes. Some of it is natural. Lots of hard work with shoulder exercises, gym, practice. It’s not all-natural for me. I work a lot on it else, my shoulders won’t have lasted long. It’s been 12-13 years but I have maintained my shoulder. I bowl a lot too. I train well and know how to take care. My coach Mahendra Singh Chauhan in Jamnagar would make us run and field; only then you can bat. In the first four years, I would only field a lot. He would seem stern, doesn’t show expressions but he is very helpful. He was very good" - he said.

Ravindra Jadeja opens up on the new normal: "It’s very tough. When we underwent quarantine for the first time, we didn’t realise that it would get tougher. Now, before every series, we have to undergo quarantine. Sometimes, we feel very bored but at the same time, we are getting to play cricket. Now before entering the hotel we download movies. One can’t exercise the whole day, so one has to find some entertainment. Earlier it was 14 days of quarantine and now we have seven days. Sometimes killing time is a challenge, though."

Ravindra Jadeja will be found in action for the World Test Championship finale in Southampton from June 18.
