Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja on Wednesday said the recent controversy surrounding spinner Yasir Shah is not good for cricket in the country.

"I don't know what is the truth in this case but it is a fact that such headlines are not good for Pakistan cricket and especially at a time when there is a feel-good factor going through Pakistan Cricket now," he added.

The girl had further stated that Yasir Shah had warned her of severe consequences if she went to the authorities to tell about the incident. "Yasir Shah said that he was a very influential person and that he knew a high-ranking official.

After New Zealand had abandoned Pakistan tour right before the toss of the tour-opener was set to take place on September 17, there were severe criticism of the NZC. However, looks like bygones are now bygones as the New Zealand Cricket Board (NZC) and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have reached a conclusion as the Black Caps are set to tour Pakistan twice in late 2022-early 2023 and also return for more limited-overs fixtures in April 2023.

The official Twitter handle of the PCB shared the development with one and all on Monday (December 20) and wrote, "Brace yourselves! New Zealand to tour Pakistan for two Tests and three ODIs in December/January 2022-23 and will return in April 2023 for 10 white-ball matches. Exciting, right?"

Black Caps' first visit to Pakistan, in late 2022 and early 2023, will comprise two Tests (as a part of the second cycle of the ICC World Championship) and three ODIs as part of the ICC Super League.

Then, the Kiwis will again return to the Asian country for ten more limited-overs fixtures, in the form of five ODIs and equal number of T20Is. Thus, the fans who were deprived of NZ-Pak rivalry earlier this year will have plenty of action between the two cricketing giants in the coming future.

For the unversed, Pakistan will also host Australia and England in their backyard in the near future and have been granted the hosting rights for the 2025 Champions Trophy as well.

Babar Azam-led Pakistan had a terrific run in the T20 World Cup 2021 edition. However, the Men in Green couldn't replicate their 2009 edition's success and bowed out of the mega event in the second semi-final, losing to eventual winners Australia by 5 wickets.

Being asked to bat first in the semi-final encounter, in Dubai, Pakistan posted a competitive 176-4 riding on half-centuries from Mohammad Rizwan and Fakhar Zaman. However, Australia managed to edge past the Men in Green courtesy Marcus Stoinis-Matthew Wade's unbeaten 81-run sixth-wicket stand. With 20 needed off 10 balls, Wade (41) was given a reprieve as Hasan Ali failed to hold onto a catch before Wade-Stoinis (40*) took Australia home.

Ahead of the Bangla Tigers' fifth encounter in the ongoing Abu Dhabi T10 league, former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Ali backed Hasan Ali as the speedster was trolled mercilessly for dropping Wade's catch, leading to Pakistan's elimination. Thus, Amir hit back at trolls and reflected back on Pakistan's 'proud campaign'.

Speaking in a virtual presser, Amir told www.wionnews.com, "See, one should see in what scenario we went to play the T20 WC. First, the NZ tour got cancelled and then the team management resigned. The new coaches who came were all in one or two months contracts. Taking all this into account, it was a huge achievement on how we played. We can look at Team India. They were playing in the UAE during IPL 14, however, they couldn't perform. So, the ones who were trolling are ones who don't understand cricket. Ones who understand will never troll."

He further added, "Catches are always dropped. Even I have dropped quite a few. That catch (Hasan Ali's drop) wasn't the reason for us losing the semi-finals. We still had to defend 18 to defend off 9 balls so it was due to bad bowling. Yes, there was pressure and Hasan is a good fielder, hence, he usually fields in the hotspots.

You can't troll this team. There were different match-winners in every game so it was a huge achievement and a proud campaign. We should only give credit to the Pakistan team."

Babar-led Pakistan defeated India for the first time in WC history and topped their group (Pool B) being unbeaten before losing the semi-final clash.

Pakistan's cricket board chief Ramiz Raja has given an update on scheduling India vs Pakistan matches outside of ICC events. The South Asian countries neighbouring countries square off only in the multi-nation ICC tournaments as the bilateral series between the two has been suspended due to political reasons.

India and Pakistan last met in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021 in UAE and Oman, when India lost the match by 10 wickets. India last hosted Pakistan in a bilateral series in 2013.

During a media interaction on Wednesday (November 17), Raja said that there's no clarity over holding a bilateral series, however, the two countries could possibly be involved in a tri-series.

PCB chief Ramiz Raja on the possibility of scheduling India vs Pakistan series

In mid-September 2021, New Zealand cricket team pulled out of their tour of Pakistan at the last minute, just before the tour-opener, citing security concerns. The England Cricket Board (ECB) -- who was also next in-line and set to send their men and women's team to Pakistan -- also withdrew due to "bubble fatigue", which left the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) fuming.

However, the England cricket have made a strong move to amend their mistakes as the ECB boss Tom Harrison travelled to Pakistan to meet his PCB counterpart. Thus, he has assured that the England men's cricket team will tour Pakistan in September 2022, for seven T20Is (comprising two additional games), and return for a three-match Test series in the Asian country post next year's T20 World Cup (in Australia).

As a result of England's commitment, PCB chairman Ramiz Raja lauded the ECB and shared Pakistan cricket's forward plan. In a video shared by the PCB, Raja didn't just thank ECB for confirming the 2022 tour but also revealed that he is planning to introduce U-19 and Women's PSL along with giving the countrymen a full home season every year.

"I'm thankful to the England Cricket Board (ECB), as it wasn't easy for them. They were under pressure and we became emotional when the pullout took place. Everyone saw how Pakistan made its case, and the result is they came here. The only thing is we and the ECB must walk together because it's important for every board to understand each other, their frustrations, meet the expectations. I think the ECB also understood they committed a mistake by withdrawing, and it was a knee-jerk reaction," Raja said in the video.

"This tour was important, and it's their gratefulness. Coming over here to sort things out and accepting their fault and promising to play two additional T20Is is good news for our fans because I believe Pakistan should have a home season so spectators come and watch and top teams should tour."

Ramiz also hinted that NZ might also take a leaf from the ECB and reschedule their cancelled Pakistan tour for next year. "We are also revisiting New Zealand's tour, and when I go to Dubai, we might announce a schedule. However, England and Australia tours are massive breakthroughs, and I expect our side to perform well. I want us to be a proud nation and our fans, our team, and the board to be respected. Also, if we are firm and honest, we need not fear anybody," he said.

Lastly, he also made some big promises and revealed, "In October, hopefully we will launch something like a PSL for Under-19 level. We are very excited because this has not happened anywhere in the world. England will send their Under-19 players, we will look after them. We will create a new property. Going ahead, I will give you a home season."

Women's and U-19 PSL, full home season: Ramiz reveals forward plan as PAK look to revamp as hosts

On Sunday evening (November 7), the Babar Azam-led Pakistan cricket team continued their winning streak in the T20 World Cup 2021 edition. Playing their last match in the Super 12, the Men in Green thrashed Scotland by a whopping 72-run margin and topped their group (Pool B) as they now head to the semi-finals with a five-match unbeaten streak in the showpiece event (16th consecutive T20I wins in a row in UAE).

Talking about the match, Pakistan opted to bat first at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah on Sunday evening. They were off to a slow start as the one-time winners were only 60 for 2 in ten overs. Nonetheless, Babar's 47-ball 66 and Shoaib Malik's 18-ball 54* propelled the side to 189/4. In reply, the Kyle Coetzer-led Scotland side were restricted for a paltry 117/6, courtesy Richie Berrington's 54, as Shadab Khan's 2 for 14 and other bowlers combined to take Pakistan to yet another win in the tournament.

After the match, the Pakistan team management won hearts as they decided to celebrate pacer Haris Rauf's 28th birthday along with the Scotland players. Hence, they invited them to their dressing room and won hearts worldwide. Here's the video:

'This will be a great series,' says PCB chairman Ramiz Raja as West Indies women to tour Pakistan for 3 ODIs

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Ramiz Raja said the board needs to forge a cricketing bond with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to revitalise the cricketing ties between the two nations. Raja recently met BCCI president Sourav Ganguly and secretary Jay Shah on the sidelines of the Asia Cricket Council (ACC) meeting in the UAE.

India and Pakistan, who share one of the greatest rivalries in cricket, have not played a bilateral series between them since 2013. The two sides meet only in major ICC competitions due to the ongoing political tensions between the two nations. However, Raja wants politics to stay away from sports as PCB tries to repair ties with India.

Raja opened up on his meeting with BCCI officials Ganguly and Shah and said a lot of work needs to be done to revitalise India-Pakistan cricket.

"I met with BCCI President Sourav Ganguly and Secretary Jay Shah on the sidelines of the ACC meetings. We need to create a cricketing bond, while I have also believed that politics should stay away from the sport as much as possible and this has always been our stance," said PCB chief Raja.

India and Pakistan, who last met in the ICC ODI World Cup 2019, will resume their rivalry when the two teams lock horns in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021. India and Pakistan will open their T20 World Cup campaign against each other in what promises to be a blockbuster clash at the Dubai International Stadium in Dubai on October 24.

India have never lost against Pakistan in the history of the T20 World Cup and will be looking to extend their winning streak against the arch-rivals.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Ramiz Raja said the board needs to forge a cricketing bond with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to revitalise the cricketing ties between the two nations.

Pakistan sport 'UAE 2021' instead of India 2021 in T20 World Cup jersey, leaked picture sparks controversy

Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Ramiz Raja said on Wednesday that Pakistan Cricket Board would collapse if Indian government wanted, pointing to sizeable revenue International Cricket Council (ICC) gets from Indian markets.

Raja pointed out that PCB received 50 per cent of its funding from the ICC and the ICC raises 90 per cent of its money from Indian markets. In a way, Raja said that Indian businesses were keeping Pakistan cricket going. If Indian prime minister decided to stop funding, he said, Pakistan cricket would collapse.

"ICC funding means that the body conducts tournaments and distributes the money among member boards," he said as quoted by Pakistani news outlet Dawn.

Pakistan Cricket Board can collapse if Indian government wants: Chairman Ramiz Raja

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja hinted that the New Zealand cricket board might be working to rescheduling their Pak tour after it abandoned the series last month due to "security threats".

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja hinted that the New Zealand cricket board might be working to rescheduling their Pak tour after it abandoned the series last month due to "security threats". As per the Pakistan media reports, New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has contacted PCB over the rescheduling of the series and "good news will be announced within a week". The Kiwis were due to play Pakistan on September 17 in the first of three ODIs in Rawalpindi, before moving to Lahore for a five-match T20 series. After New Zealand, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) also cancelled its white-ball tours to Pakistan by the men's and women's teams due to take place this month, citing "increasing concerns about travelling to the region" and player welfare. While speaking before the Senate Standing Committee on Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC), Raja talked about the importance of making PCB self-sufficient and future of the Pakistan cricket. During the meeting, he mentioned the New Zealand tour as he said, "The PCB may put forward its terms before the NZC by choosing the month of November in 2022 for the rescheduling of the recently postponed series." New Zealand rescheduling Pakistan tour? PCB chairman Ramiz Raja drops major hint

Former spinner Mushtaq Ahmed believes that England's cricketers would happily tour Pakistan and says his country deserved better having travelled the other way at the height of the pandemic.

Ahmed, who has a foot in both camps after serving as England's spin-bowling coach in 2009-2015, voiced his frustration to AFP after English cricket chiefs controversially cancelled tours for their men's and women's teams next month to cricket-crazy Pakistan.

The first trip by the England men's side to Pakistan since 2005 was only meant to last four days with two Twenty20 matches in Rawalpindi.

But the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) last week cited "increasing concerns about travelling to the region", days after New Zealand abandoned their tour of Pakistan minutes before the start of the first one-day international in Rawalpindi, citing a security alert.

The ECB decision was met with fury in Pakistan which only went up a notch after the Daily Mail newspaper reported that the England players were not consulted.

"I think from my experience, playing in England and also coach of England for six years, I think the guys are very open-minded and they know the circumstances of the world," Ahmed, 51, said of the English players.

"I know them -- I played with lots of cricketers, I coached them for six years, I played (English) county cricket," he added.

"I think (the) players will definitely come now," he said, pointing out that a number of England players had featured in the Pakistan Super League in recent seasons.

Ahmed said that Pakistan deserved better after they toured England last year.

Pakistan travelled a time when Covid infection rates in Britain were among the highest in the world for a three-match Test and T20 series that saved the ECB millions in television rights deals.

"If (a) team can travel in corona (virus) situation when the people were dying (in Britain) and Pakistan went to England and played a series, then they should have acknowledged that and they should respect that," said Ahmed.

Becoming a hero

Pakistan Cricket Board chief Wasim Khan resigns after New Zealand and England tour chaos

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been left miffed after New Zealand and England's decision to pull out of their respective tours of the country. The New Zealand team was in Pakistan for a limited-overs tour but abandoned the series after a 'security threat'. Days after New Zealand's decision to not play in Pakistan, England confirmed that they will not be touring the country.

As per a report in PTI, PCB chief Ramiz Raza has been on a 'warpath' since New Zealand and England's decision to pull out from their respective commitments. The PCB is now planning to take legal action against the two cricket boards ahead of the next ICC meeting.

PCB chief Raza is reportedly busy exploring legal options to take action against the England Cricket Board, and the New Zealand Cricket Board after speaking to PCB's patron-in-chief and Prime Minister Imran Khan.

"Pakistan is studying all legal resources it can take to demand compensation from the two boards," a source was quoted as saying by PTI.

Meanwhile, England cricket's player's body has claimed the England Cricket Board did not seek the suggestions from the players before making the decision to call off the tour of Pakistan. A spokesperson of the Team England Player Partnership (TEPP) denied players' involvement in the decision to not tour Pakistan.

"At no stage has the ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board) ever asked Team England Player Partnership or the teams, men and women, whether the tour should go ahead or whether players were prepared to tour Pakistan," a TEPP spokesperson was quoted as saying by British media.

Pakistan will now focus on preparing for the upcoming T20 World Cup after both New Zealand and England pulled out of their respective tours. The Babar Azam-led side will open their World Cup campaign against arch-rivals India on October 24.

'It's an unfortunate scenario': Ramiz Raja urges Pakistan cricketers to channelise anger into performance

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) released a statement after New Zealand abandoned their tour of Pakistan following a "security alert" on Friday (September 17), when the first match of the series was due to start.

New Zealand were supposed to play Pakistan on Friday in the first of three ODIs in Rawalpindi, before moving to Lahore for a five-match T20 series.

After the cancellation, PCB wrote in a statement: "Earlier today, the New Zealand cricket board informed us that they had been alerted to some security alert and have unilaterally decided to postpone the series. PCB and Govt of Pakistan made fool proof security arrangements for all visiting teams."

"We have assured the NZ cricket board of the same. The Prime Minister spoke personally to the Prime Minister of New Zealand and informed her that we have one of the best Intelligence systems in the world and that no security threat of any kind exists for the visiting team."
