PCB chief Raja had recently proposed a four-nation tournament involving India, Pakistan, England and Australia at ICC's annual meeting. However, his proposal was rejected. Sharing his views on the prospects of a four-nation tournament, Tauqir said the decision from ICC is understandable considering there is not much room left for such a tournament with the calendar already stacked up due to T20 franchise cricket across the globe.

"Although the four-nation series was a great idea there are already so many franchise-model tournaments happening throughout the year. Because of this, I do not think there will be enough room left to gather the four nations in one timeframe," said the former PCB chief.

"We are pleased that with the support of the Koninklijke Nederlandse Cricket Bond (KNCB), we have been able to reschedule the series, which is important to the growth and development of cricket in Netherlands as well as to the two teams` chances of progressing directly to the 2023 World Cup," said Zakir in a PCB statement. 
 
"Our men`s national cricket team had an excellent 2021-22 season and I am confident they will build on the momentum to entertain expat Pakistanis and the Dutch spectators with good cricket. This series will also help KNCB attract new and young audiences towards the game," he added.

PCB confirms Babar Azam-led Pakistan to tour Netherlands for three ODIs in August

Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Zaka Ashraf has claimed that it was the decision of the cricket governing body&nbsp;to send the wives of the Pakistan cricketers during their last tour of India in 2012 along with the players.

Ashraf said that the aim of the move was to keep an eye on the Pakistan cricketers and avoid any possible controversies during the series which took place in December – January.

"During my time when our team went on a tour to India, I advised that all the wives of the players will accompany them. This decision was taken so that no controversy could be created as Indian media is always on the lookout for that. The wives meant to also keep a check on the players," Ashraf told Cricket Pakistan.

The tour comprised of three ODIs and two T20Is. Pakistan were able to clinch the ODI series with wins in Chennai and Kolkata but the T20I series ended in a 1-1 draw. Ashraf also said that the BCCI had said that the Indian cricket team will play a return series but that never happened.

"We should always try to restore ties with the Indian government in regards to cricket. The biggest advantage we have right now is that General Bajwa is currently occupying the position and he himself wants to see Pakistan cricket prosper, Ashraf said.

"They invited us for a short series and once we went there, I met with BCCI chairman at the time Narayanaswami Srinivasan. He promised India's participation on Pakistan soil granted if fool proof security is given."

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja is considering resigning from his position in the wake of the ouster of Imran Khan as prime minister of the country, according to sources.

Ramiz, who like Imran is also a former Pakistan captain, is presently in Dubai for the International Cricket Council (ICC) meetings which concluded on Sunday.

"Ramiz had only agreed to become the chairman of the Board on the insistence of Imran for whom all the players who played under his captaincy including Ramiz have a lot of regard and respect,"&nbsp;a source well aware of the developments said on Sunday.

"Ramiz was well set in a career as commentator, TV personality and expert and was busy with assignments. But on Imran's insistence he agreed to put aside all his media contacts and become chairman of the board,"&nbsp;the source said.

Soon after taking charge, he made it clear to Misbah-ul-Haq and Waqar Younis that they were no longer required as head coach and bowling coach of the national team and should resign.

He also asked the head of the high-performance centre in Lahore, Grant Bradburn, and some other coaches to resign.

PCB chairman Ramiz Raja pins hopes of bilateral series between India-Pakistan in 2024-25

Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ramiz Raja is all set to table a proposal for a four-nation tournament involving India at the upcoming ICC Board Meeting but the BCCI is unlikely to play ball.

As per the current ICC rule, a member board can host a tri-nation tournament at the most as only the global body has the right to organize an event which involves more than three countries.

But Ramiz's 'white-paper' proposes that ICC run the tournament annually with a projected revenue of USD 750 million for the parent body from media rights and other commercial activities.

India have been pencilled as one of the four participating sides in the four-Nations T20 Super League Series proposal, which Ramiz plans to table at the April 10 ICC Board meeting in Dubai.

Australia and England are the other participating sides in the proposal, which, if goes through, will see the Asian neighbours compete at the highest level on an annual basis.

The event host, the concept (white) paper says, will be decided amongst the four participants, with each participating side to stage the tournament on a rotation basis with ICC like its other global events running the tournament.

However, it has been learnt that BCCI is unlikely to relent.

"Our Futures Tours &amp; Programme (FTP) is packed. Also the fact that there are lot of factors and as of now, there is no change in policy of playing them at ICC events. Also, we don't think ICC will be ready to organize a four-nation and Raja's proposal will be turned down," a senior BCCI official said.

India and Pakistan have played each other only in ICC or ACC events since 2012 when the last bilateral white-ball series was held.

Recently, BCCI secretary Jay Shah had stated in an interview to a foreign news agency that board is currently more focussed on honouring its bilateral commitments.

"The calender is choc-a-bloc and also we need to keep players physical and mental health in mind with so much of cricket being played,' the official said.

According to proposal prepared by Ramiz, "the quadrangular series will be played on a single-league basis around September/October, which is a low cricket period due to the eve of cricket seasons in Australia, India and Pakistan, and the tail-end of the cricket season in England.

"The proposal suggests a potential revenue of USD 750 million, which the PCB boss wants to be distributed amongst the participating nations and other ICC members through a distribution model," a PCB source told PTI.

While Ramiz wants ICC to be the organizers of such an event, PCB sources feel that it will in no way undermine the global events.

India have been pencilled as one of the four participating sides in the four-Nations T20 Super League Series proposal, which Ramiz plans to table at the April 10 ICC Board meeting in Dubai. While the win be a huge morale booster for Pakistan ahead of their remaining two league games, the defeat put West Indies' semifinal hopes at a risk.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja is still hopeful of reviving bilateral cricket between India and Pakistan through a four-nation tournament that he had proposed last year. After the conclusion of the T20 World Cup 2021 last year, the PCB chief had taken to Twitter to inform that he was going to propose an annual four-nation T20I series involving India, Pakistan, England and Australia to the ICC.

However, when asked about the PCB chief's plan, BCCI secretary Jay Shah had earlier this year had termed it a 'short-term commercial initiative' while hinting that BCCI had no plans to be part of the series. However, Raja has not given up hopes on convincing the BCCI to let India also be part of the tournament and has said he will soon hold talks regarding the same with BCCI president Sourav Ganguly.

India and Pakistan, who share one of the greatest rivalries in cricket, have not played against each other in a bilateral series since 2013 due to the political tensions between the two nations. However, Raja believes politics should be kept aside when it comes to cricket as he gears up to talk to Ganguly during the upcoming Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting in Dubai on March 19.

Former Pakistan skipper Akram too aimed a dig at the PCB chief over the poor quality of pitches in Pakistan and said he knew the Rawalpindi Test was going to end in a draw after just two deliveries were bowled in the match. He insisted that if a team is opting for a slow track, they should ensure it has turn on it for the game to have a result at the end of the five days. “There is a method to making slow tracks. If you want to do that, on the basis of&nbsp;technicality, you roll the centre less and leave the area around the front foot a little dry so that the ball turns from day 1. If you want to make slow pitches at least make it a turner so that we get a result-oriented match. I hope they learn from it whoever is making the pitches. It is quite boring to be honest,” he added.

" He further opined, "I understand the fans' frustration and it would have been great if there was a result in this Test match. But do remember that this is a three-Test series and there is a lot of cricket left to be played. We cannot make a fast or bouncy pitch for the heck of it and put the conditions in Australia's lap. It is important that when we play at home, we play according to our strengths."

Imam-ul-Haq smashed his second hundred in the run-fest in Rawalpindi but Australia's first test in Pakistan in 24 years ended in a dull draw on Tuesday.

Opting to bat on run-filled surface, Pakistan had made 476-4 before declaring their first innings at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

By the time they bowled out Australia for 459 on the final day, the chances of any team winning the contest had evaporated.

Pakistan decided to bat on allowing Imam, who went into the match without a century in his previous 11 tests, to score his second hundred of the contest.

A total of 1,187 runs were scored over five days and only 14 wickets fell in what Australia's Steve Smith called a "pretty benign, dead wicket" which risks censure from the game's governing body.

With draw looming as the only possible result, Australia captain Pat Cummins shielded his frontline quicks and used as many as nine bowlers in Pakistan's second innings.

Earlier, after the tourists began the final day on 449-7, Pakistan took 11 deliveries to claim the last three Australian wickets.

Nauman Ali dismissed Cummins for eight, and both Mitchell Starc and Lyon fell lbw as Australia finished 17 runs behind Pakistan's first innings total.

Each of Australia`s top four batsmen crossed the 50-mark but could not convert them into hundreds and the tourists lost their last six wickets for 52 runs.

Left-arm spinner Nauman claimed a career-best 6-107 on a flat track where bowlers struggled for success.

When Pakistan came out to bat for a second time in the match, Cummins saw no point in straining his pace attack on the unresponsive track.

Australia's tour of Pakistan should encourage major cricket nations to shed their apprehensions and visit the South Asian country, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said on Friday.

Top teams have largely steered clear of Pakistan since 2009, when a visiting Sri Lanka team was ambushed by gunmen in Lahore, in an attack blamed on Islamist militants.

The PCB spent much of the last decade trying to convince teams to visit Pakistan but suffered a setback when New Zealand and England abandoned their tours last year.

The PCB heaved a massive sigh of relief on Friday when Australia's first tour of Pakistan in 24 years got underway in Rawalpindi.

The importance of the series was not lost on the International Cricket Council (ICC) with chief executive Geoff Allardice attending the news conference.

"I've seen over the last four or five years the efforts the PCB and various authorities in Pakistan have made to bring elite cricket back to Pakistan and this is another step in that journey," Allardice said.

"It's a building block in terms of building that confidence for teams to come back and tour Pakistan."

Australian Cricketers'&nbsp;Association (ACA) chief executive Todd Greenberg said Australian cricketers were "unbelievably excited".

"A lot of players were very anxious about this tour some months ago, but that anxiety has turned to real excitement," Greenberg said.

"We understand our contribution and our responsibility to the global game."

Faulkner took to Twitter to reveal PCB and his franchise Quetta Gladiators have been continuously lying to him and have not 'honoured' his contractual agreement and payments.

Faulkner termed PCB's treatment of him as a 'disgrace' as he apologised to Pakistani fans for leaving the tournament midway. Responding to his accusations, PCB has termed Faulkner's allegations as 'baseless' and have also banned the Australian from taking part in the PSL for life.

As PCB faces criticism from all corners after Faulkner's allegations against the cricket board, former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has come out to defend the organisation. Afridi slammed Faulkner for levelling 'baseless' allegations against the board and claimed the payments of the players have never been delayed in the competition.

BCCI secretary Shah labelled Raja's proposal a 'short-term commercial initiative'&nbsp;while speaking to Reuters. The BCCI secretary asserted that the board will prioritise the expansion of cricket across the globe over such short-term initiatives.

"With the IPL window expanding and the ICC (global) events every year in the cycle, our primary responsibility is to safeguard bilateral cricket at home, with emphasis on test cricket," Shah told Reuters.

"I am also looking forward to seeing cricket at the Olympics, as that will help the game grow. Expansion of the sport is a challenge that our game faces and we must prioritise it over any short-term commercial initiative," he added.
