Mohammad Rizwan was one of the star performers for Pakistan in the recently-concluded T20 World Cup 2021. The wicket-keeper batter was among the runs for the Men in Green and produced a couple of match-winning knocks to help his team produce a brilliant campaign in the showpiece event which concluded last week. However, it was not an easy tournament for Rizwan, who had spent two days in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) ahead of Pakistan's semi-final clash against Australia.

Pictures of Rizwan lying on a hospital bed had emerged after his brilliant knock of 67 runs against Australia in the all-important semi-final. It was later revealed that the cricketer was admitted in a hospital even a day prior to the semi-final and that he had spent a couple of days in the ICU. He was hospitalised due to a severe chest infection and was constantly facing trouble breathing.

Rizwan was in a race against time to be fit for the semi-final against Australia and made a miraculous recovery to feature in the all-important encounter. The Pakistan batter recently revealed chilling details of his battle in the ICU and what he was told by one of the nurses regarding his illness. Rizwan said he couldn't breathe when he was admitted to the hospital and that one of the nurses told him both his windpipes would have burst had he been 20 minutes late.

"When I reached the hospital, I wasn't breathing. And the nurses told me that my windpipes were choked. They were not telling me anything. I was told that I would get better by morning and discharged. During the afternoon, I was told that I will be discharged in the evening. So, I asked one of the nurses and then I was told that had it been late in reaching the hospital by 20 minutes, both my windpipes would have burst. You will have to be there for two nights or more," Rizwan told Cricket Pakistan.

Rizwan was treated by an Indian doctor, who admitted he was astonished by the Pakistan batter's recovery. The doctor had advised Rizwan not to take the field against Australia but the wicket-keeper batter made a full recovery and played the semi-final.

"They used to conduct regular tests but the constant thought in my mind was that I'll soon get fit to play the match. The doctor told me that he wanted me to play the semi-final for Pakistan which gave me a boost. But later, when he told me that 'Rizwan, you are not in a condition to play'… that took me back a little. He told me there are risks involved. Thankfully, things started getting better and I was able to make a quick recovery," Rizwan recalled.

Aaron Finch-led Australia won the T20 World Cup 2021 edition, which was held in the UAE. The 2021 edition was supposed to be held in late 2020 but got postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic worldwide. Hence, the seventh edition took place in the UAE -- for the first time -- after India refrained from hosting the event on their home soil due to the virus scare.

While not many believed Australia were one of the favourites to win the coveted title, having lost their last five bilateral series, the Men in Yellow defied all odds to emerge on top by winning the tournament-finale by eight wickets on Sunday evening (November 14). Aussies locked horns with Kane Williamson-led New Zealand in the summit clash and produced an all-round effort to not give their Trans-Tasmanian rivals any chance whatsoever.

Babar Azam responds to 8-year-old fan's heartfelt letter after Pakistan's exit from T20 World Cup 2021

Pakistan pacer Hasan Ali was on the receiving end of horrific abuse as he was targeted on social media by trolls after he dropped Matthew Wade's catch in his side's semi-final clash against Australia on Thursday. Pakistan went on to lose the game by five wickets to bow out of the T20 World Cup 2021 as their unbeaten run in the tournament came to an end in the knockout tie.

Ali had a poor outing in the semi-final as he went wicket-less with the ball and ended up dropping Wade in the 19th over of Australia's run-chase. Wade went on to slam three consecutive sixes of Shaheen Afridi in the penultimate over to take Australia over the line comfortably and help them reach the final.

In the aftermath of Pakistan's defeat, Ali was brutally trolled online with some even targeting his partner and his religion over his mistake. The Pakistan pacer found support from the cricket fraternity as several current and former cricketers took to social media to criticise the abuse directed towards Ali.

The Pakistan fast bowler took to Twitter on Saturday to issue an apology to Pakistani fans. Ali said he was more disappointed than them and that the rough patch will make him stronger.

"I know you all are upset because my performance didn’t meet your expectations … but [you] are not more disappointed than me. Don’t change your expectations from me. I want to serve Pakistan cricket at the highest level possible, so back to hard work. This patch will make stronger,” Ali wrote in a tweet.

Pakistan pacer Hasan Ali apologises to fans after facing horrific abuse over his dropped catch vs Australia

Pakistan bowed out of T20 World Cup 2021 on Thursday with a five-wicket loss at the hands of Australia in the semi-final. The Babar Azam-led side enjoyed a stellar run in the tournament with five wins in five matches in the Super 12 to finish on top of Group 2 and enter the semi-finals as one of the favourites for the coveted title. However, their dream run was halted by Australia, who secured a spot in the final against New Zealand.

Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar recently spoke about Pakistan's performance in the semi-final, in a video shared on his YouTube channel and explained why the Men in Green lost against the Aussies. Akhtar said it was quite evident that Pakistan skipper Babar Azam couldn't keep his composure in a crunch situation while the Aussies, who are an experienced side, didn't lose the plot and emerged victorious.

"You have to agree here that our (Pakistan) captain is young and new and in the end could not keep composed. On the other hand, Australia is a mature team and there they used their experience, culture, base to remain composed and did not get scared. Pakistan team, though, did not get scared but panicked," said Akhtar in the video.

Batting first, Pakistan got off to a brilliant start in the semi-final against Australia as opener Babar and Mohammad Rizwan posted an opening stand of 71 runs. Rizwan, who slammed a superb knock of 67 runs off 52 balls, then combined with Fakhar Zaman (55 off 32) to help Pakistan post 176 runs on the board.

However, Australia chased down the target with an over to spare as Matthew Wade (41) and Marcus Stoinis (40) posted an unbeaten stand of 81 runs for the sixth wicket and bailed Australia out of crisis to take them over the line in a pressure run chase.

Akhtar said it was Pakistan's best chance to win the T20 World Cup this year but their best was not enough to beat Australia on Thursday as Aaron Finch & Co. entered the final with a convincing win.

"He (Babar Azam) is a new captain and I understand that but winning 5 out of 6 games, I thought this was Pakistan's World Cup to win. This could have been won. We might not get such an easy chance ever again. We tried our best but the best was not good enough for yesterday. The better team won," Akhtar said.

Australia will now lock horns with New Zealand in the final of the T20 World Cup 2021 on Sunday (November 14). A new champion will be crowned on Sunday as both teams have not won their maiden T20 World Cup titles yet.

Babar Azam couldn't keep composure: Shoaib Akhtar explains why Pakistan lost T20 WC semi-final

Pakistan fast bowler Hasan Ali had a disappointing outing in his side's T20 World Cup 2021 semi-final clash against Australia on Thursday. While he went wicket-less with the ball, he ended up being on the receiving end of vicious abuse on social media after dropping Matthew Wade's catch in the 19th over of Australia's run chase.

Australia defeated Pakistan by five wickets in the semi-final as they successfully chased down the target of 177 runs with an over to spare. Wade, who was the hero of Australia's victory scored an unbeaten 41 off 17 balls including three consecutive sixes of Shaheen Afridi in the penultimate over to take Australia over the line in a thrilling chase.

Hasan has been brutally trolled on social media by Pakistani fans, with some of them even dragging his family into the matter. While several former and current cricketers, including Pakistan captain Babar Azam have urged the fans to not abuse the fast bowler, former Indian opener Virender Sehwag has also shared his views on the matter.

Sehwag said any country which loses a big game usually reacts as the Pakistani supporters have but he insisted that it is the same team that they had supported when they were winning. Shewag said the players deserve to have the backing of the fans even when the team is losing.

"Anyone who loses usually reacts in such a manner. So entire Pakistan would be blaming Hasan Ali for their loss. After he dropped the catch, Wade hit three sixes in three balls and finished the match. I think their anger is justified but it's the same Pakistan team they supported and so when they lose they should still be supported," Sehwag said in a video shared on his Facebook page.

Pakistan's campaign in the T20 World Cup 2021 came to an end on Thursday (November 12) with a five-wicket defeat against Australia in the second semi-final. The Men in Green were on an unbeaten run of five matches heading into the clash but Australia brought a halt to their stellar streak as they secured a spot in the final where they will face New Zealand.

It was an enthralling battle between the two teams in the semi-final in Dubai as Pakistan went down fighting. Batting first, Babar Azam & Co. got off to a good start with an opening stand of 71 runs between Mohammad Rizwan (67) and Babar (39). Mohammad Rizwan played a sensation 67-run knock in Pakistan's T20 World Cup 2021 semi-final clash versus Australia on Thursday evening (November 11). Courtesy his heroics with the bat, the Babar Azam-led Pakistan side posted a competitive 176-4 in 20 overs after being asked to bat first in the second semi-final, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai.

The Men in Green couldn't defend the total, despite reducing Australia to 96-5, as Matthew Wade and Marcus Stoinis' unbeaten 81-run stand took the Aussies home. Nonetheless, the former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar lavished praise on Rizwan for his sportsmanship and commitment towards the country and national side. For the unversed, Rizwan had a flu and spent two nights in Dubai's ICU, prior to the semi-final clash, after he had reportedly developed a severe chest infection, which needed medical attention. Despite his situation being far from ideal, the wicketkeeper-batsman turned up for the knockout clash versus Australia and performed superbly.

Akhtar lauds Md Rizwan for stunning 67-run knock in T20 WC semi-final vs Australia, calls him a 'hero'

Team India bowed out of the T20 World Cup 2021 edition, being held in the UAE, in the Super 12 round after failing to win their first two encounters. Despite a late surge, with three back-to-back wins, Virat Kohli-led India gave fans something to cheer for but they were shown the exit door prior to their last league stage encounter, versus Namibia.

After India's end of the road in the T20 WC, Kohli has officially stepped down as the national side's captain in the shortest format. For the unversed, the 33-year-old had already announced, in mid-September, that he won't lead the side in the T20Is post the World Cup. With Rohit Sharma set to take over, along with new head coach Rahul Dravid who will succeed Ravi Shastri, the Men in Blue will like to enter into a new era and move past their missed opportunities in the T20 WC.

However, former Pakistan spinner Mushtaq Ahmed feels there is more to what meets the eyes with regard Kohli stepping aside as T20I captain. He feels an early retirement is also on cards for Kohli from the shortest format. Nonetheless, he made heads turn by claiming that there are two groups within Team India at the moment.

"When a successful captain says he wants to leave the captaincy, it means all is not well in the dressing room. I see two groups existing in the Indian dressing room right now… the Mumbai and Delhi groups," Mushtaq, who is presently working at the PCB's high-performance centre, said on the Geo News channel.

"I think Kohli will soon retire from playing T20 internationals for his country although he will continue in the Indian Premier League. I think he has had his fill of this format," Mushtaq further asserted.

On India's dismal campaign in the T20 WC, he opined, "I think India flopped in the World Cup because of the IPL. I think their players after remaining for so long in a bio-secure bubble before the World Cup were jaded and tired."

Australia had last travelled to Pakistan in 1998 and their tour next year is all set to be a historic one from Pakistan's perspective.

Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, however, said he was unsure of travelling to Pakistan with the rest of his teammates for the tour next year. Maxwell is a vital cog in the Australian limited-overs setup and is currently in action for the Aaron Finch-led side at the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021.

Maxwell revealed he is not sure whether he will be travelling to Pakistan when asked by the reporters about the announcement of the tour during a press conference ahead of Australia's semi-final clash against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2021. Maxwell said the decision will depend on his fiancee as his wedding is scheduled to happen around the same time.

"I think it's great that we've got a tour to go back there. I think I saw it was 1998 the last time we went there. Whether I'm going there or not might probably hinge on my fiancee because my wedding is supposed to be on during that time. So I'm probably not quite the right person to ask that question," Maxwell told reporters.

Maxwell has been dating pharmacist Vini Raman for several years now and the couple was all set to tie the knot before their wedding got delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic last year. They had gotten engaged in March 2020 and are yet to tie the knot.

When asked if there is a possibility his wedding can be rescheduled for him to make it to the Pakistan tour, Maxwell said there was no chance of the wedding to be delayed again as it has already been rescheduled a couple of times.

"Not a chance. We've already moved it a couple of times so I think this is it," said the Aussie all-rounder.

Glenn Maxwell not certain of travelling to Pakistan for Australia's tour next year, reveals why

Team India, on Sunday (November 8), bowed out of the T20 World Cup 2021 edition, being held in the UAE. After losing their opening two encounters, Virat Kohli-led India bounced back in style to win two matches in a row and had to hope for New Zealand to lose to Afghanistan in order to stay alive in the semi-finals race. Had New Zealand lost to the Mohammad Nabi-led Afghan side, India would have had to beat Namibia convincingly to topple Afghanistan in NRR and enter the semis.

However, all hopes of Team India ended with New Zealand beating Afghanistan by eight wickets and entering the semis by claiming the remaining fourth spot. With this, India's match against Namibia has turned into a dead rubber. As soon as the news broke out that India are virtually out of the race from the semi-finals, Cricket Pakistan's official Twitter handle tried to troll the Indian cricket fans.

Wasim Jaffer, India's former opener-turned-internet sensation, gave a savage response to the Pakistan website's tweet. Here's how it all happened:

As Cricket Pakistan's tweet tried to troll the Indian fans, Jaffer had the last laugh by reminding them of India's superior head-to-head record versus Babar Azam-led Pakistan in ICC events (12-1). Despite India losing their first-ever game versus Pakistan in an ICC event during the ongoing T20 WC, they still have a significant lead over their arch-rivals in marquee tournaments. Thus, Jaffer hilariously reminded one and all of the same.

Mic-drop moment! Jaffer gives savage reply after Pak website trolls Indian fans for T20 WC debacle

The T20 World Cup 2021 edition is set to welcome the semi-finals stage. After match 40 ended in the Super 12 round, on Sunday evening (November 7), the cricketing fraternity got to know about the four teams who will now engage in the semi-finals as some of the big guns in West Indies and India have failed to reach the knockouts.

After Saturday's doubleheader (November 6), Pakistan (who were the first side to make it to the semis) were joined by Australia and England in the semi-finals whereas Kane Williamson-led New Zealand became the fourth and final side to enter the last four. Hence, England (who topped Pool A) will lock horns with Pool B's second-best team, i.e. New Zealand in the first semi-final whereas Australia (Pool A's second-ranked side) will face Babar Azam-led Pakistan (Pool B toppers) in the second semi-final. The two semi-finals are scheduled to take place on November 10 and 11, at Abu Dhabi and Dubai, respectively.

Among the four semi-finalists, Babar-led Pakistan will enter the knockouts being the only unbeaten team so far in the tournament. They also have a 16-match winning streak in T20Is in UAE. England, on the other hand, will aim for their second T20 WC title after missing out in the previous edition (they will also look to be crowned as the limited-overs champions post the 2019 ODI WC). Meanwhile, Australia and New Zealand will aim to win their maiden T20 WC trophy.

ENG, NZ, Pak or AUS? Faf du Plessis predicts winner of T20 World Cup

On Sunday evening (November 7), the Babar Azam-led Pakistan cricket team continued their winning streak in the T20 World Cup 2021 edition. Playing their last match in the Super 12, the Men in Green thrashed Scotland by a whopping 72-run margin and topped their group (Pool B) as they now head to the semi-finals with a five-match unbeaten streak in the showpiece event (16th consecutive T20I wins in a row in UAE).

Talking about the match, Pakistan opted to bat first at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah on Sunday evening. They were off to a slow start as the one-time winners were only 60 for 2 in ten overs. Nonetheless, Babar's 47-ball 66 and Shoaib Malik's 18-ball 54* propelled the side to 189/4. In reply, the Kyle Coetzer-led Scotland side were restricted for a paltry 117/6, courtesy Richie Berrington's 54, as Shadab Khan's 2 for 14 and other bowlers combined to take Pakistan to yet another win in the tournament.

After the match, the Pakistan team management won hearts as they decided to celebrate pacer Haris Rauf's 28th birthday along with the Scotland players. Hence, they invited them to their dressing room and won hearts worldwide. Here's the video:

On September 17, New Zealand cancel Pakistan tour on security grounds. England follow suit. Just a month before the T20 World Cup, Pakistan cricket is in chaos. Ramiz Raja, Pakistan's former captain, has just taken over the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman post and is facing the chin music from the word go. Thus, fans looked upto Ramiz to clean up the mess as dark clouds promised to reappear once again in Pakistan cricket.

Before the T20 WC, while majority of top-sides' key players were adjusting to the conditions and nature of surfaces on offer in the UAE, by playing the IPL 2021 final leg, Pakistan cricketers had no choice but to resort to domestic cricket. The National T20 Cup became their final stage for dress rehearsal at home. Nonetheless, they didn't complain. Moreover, the pain and humiliation of shifting base to UAE, after the 2009 Lahore terror attack, was finally going to repay them in some way as they entering the T20 WC fully aware of the conditions on offer.

While the morale of the cricket-crazy nation was at an all-time low, following New Zealand's withdrawal, Ramiz asked players to channel their aggression on the field. There was silence in Pakistan cricket but one could sense that it was a calm before the storm. Pakistan were once again cornered in world cricket, however, the sun was just waiting to shine on them at the right moment.

Virat Kohli-led India thrashed Afghanistan by 66 runs in their third clash of the Super 12 round in the T20 World Cup, on Wednesday (November 3) at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi. Being asked to bat first, India rode on scintillating half-centuries from openers Rohit Sharma (74) and KL Rahul (69) as the one-time winners posted a mammoth 210-2 in 20 overs.

In reply, Afghanistan lost early wickets and were restricted to 144-7 courtesy Mohammed Shami's 3-fer and R Ashwin's 2 for 14. Despite India's convincing win, a Pakistani actor named Sehar Shinwari wasn't impressed with the Indian team and accused the BCCI of 'fixing' the India-Afghanistan face-off.

Shinwari responded to former Indian opener-turned-commentator Aaksh Chopra's tweet, where the latter lauded Team India and wrote, "This is how it is done. India played like India". To this, the actor wrote, "BCCI bought a good match".

Nonetheless, Chopra had the last laugh as he came up with an epic response and slammed the actor. Here's how it all panned out:

Despite the big win, India still remain alive in the semi-finals race but need to emerge on top of their oppositions in the remaining two fixtures and also hope for other results to favour them. The Kohli-led Indian team will next lock horns with Scotland, on Friday (November 5), whereas they will play their last match in the Super 12 round versus Namibia.

After beating Afghanistan, Indian captain Kohli said at the post-match presentation, "We spoke about the fact that in the other games, if we just had two overs of free-flowing batting, then that sends a message to the opposition that we are going to put you under the pump. When we do that, we know how we can play. Sometimes, you do fall to the pressure and have to accept that. T20 cricket is a very instinctive game, in batting, bowling and decision-making. We do make decisions on the go."

Virat Kohli-led India thrashed Afghanistan by 66 runs in their third clash of the Super 12 round in the T20 World Cup, on Wednesday (November 3) at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi.

EPIC! Aakash Chopra reacts as Pakistani actor accuses BCCI of 'fixing' India vs Afghanistan T20 WC clash

Former Pakistan women's team skipper Sana Mir is impressed with the consistent manner in which Babar Azam and his men have performed in the T20 World Cup, a trait not often associated with the squad.

Pakistan have become the team to beat in the ongoing tournament. Armed with a potent bowling attack and a solid batting unit, the 2009 champions are yet to lose a fixture, registering wins over India, New Zealand, Afghanistan and Namibia.

They have already sealed a semifinal berth. "What has impressed me most about Pakistan at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021 has been their consistency," Mir wrote in her column for ICC.

Over many years, Pakistan have proven to be an unpredictable side. Statistics and predictions have time and again failed to determine their results.

"It is not usually something you associate with Pakistan. We always hear about an unpredictable Pakistan but in this tournament they have maintained their intensity.

"The catching has been good, the running between the wickets as well and as a unit they are performing to the standards we expect them to.

"At international level, you make plans and you have to execute them. That is exactly what they are doing," Mir added.

She hailed coach Saqlain Mushtaq for "empowering" the players while also lauding former Australian cricketer Mathew Hayden and South Africa Vernon Philander, who are working with the team for the tournament.

"A lot of the credit goes to the players who are working so hard and that is the platform that they have used to achieve what they are right now. But I think Saqlain Mushtaq also deserves a lot of praise for the work he is doing.

"Matthew Hayden and Vernon Philander have of course been a big influence and Ramiz Raja has given extra responsibility to Babar Azam as captain. When the captain has that responsibility, they feel confident making decisions. It is the same for the players."

Mir feels the players are playing with freedom which has also led to the good show.

"There are of course more factors in their success, but there is a freedom in this team for the players to express themselves. The environment is great for the players to succeed."

Having chased in their first three matches, skipper Babar opted to bat first in the 45-run win over Namibia on Tuesday.

"I was pleased to see Pakistan decide to bat first against Namibia to give themselves a bigger challenge.

"Regardless of the opposition, it is not easy to bat in those conditions, but they did very well and now they are in a great position to top the group and avoid England, who are playing some great cricket, in the semi-final."

Skipper Virat Kohli had said his team was not brave enough with the bat, ball and in its body language after the loss to New Zealand.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan have been playing fearless cricket and almost got the better of Pakistan.

"Virat Kohli talked about how India needed to be braver after the loss to New Zealand. Now they are playing the most courageous team in the tournament," Mir said.

"Afghanistan are the only team who love to win the toss and bat. That should make for a great game and it is huge in the context of Group 2.

"It is not easy to get over a big defeat like India suffered to Pakistan and it felt against New Zealand that they had still not fully moved on. For their sake, they will hope to have put those defeats behind them against Afghanistan."

T20 WC: Unpredictable Pakistan have been very consistent, says former women's team captain Sana Mir

Babar Azam-led Pakistan thrashed Namibia by 45 runs in their fourth and penultimate game in the Super 12 round of the T20 World Cup 2021 edition, on Tuesday evening (November 2) at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi. With this win, the Men in Green have become the first-ever side to qualify for the T20 WC 2021 edition, being held in the UAE.

Choosing to bat first, Babar & Co. were off to a slow start but had wickets in hand as they consolidated in the second-half of their innings to post a daunting 189/2, riding on Babar's 70, Mohammad Rizwan's 79* and Mohammad Hafeez's 16-ball 32*. In reply, Namibia did lose convincingly but they didn't surrender easily as they kept on fighting and posted a decent 144/5 courtesy Craig Williams' 40 and David Weise's 43* (31). With the defeat, Namibia are pretty much out of contention from the semi-finals race but once again the lowly-ranked side made heads turn with their fighting spirit and positive body language.

Pakistan win hearts as they congratulate Namibia on their inspiring T20 WC journey - WATCH

Legendary Pakistan cricketer Wasim Akram has slammed the Indian team for neglecting international cricket and focusing on the Indian Premier League (IPL) as Virat Kohli & Co. continue their horrible run in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021. India has had a shambolic start to their campaign in the showpiece event as they find themselves languishing at the fifth spot on the points table after back-to-back losses in their first two matches.

India lost against arch-rivals Pakistan by ten wickets in the opening game before going down against New Zealand by eight wickets in a one-sided second game in Dubai. The Men in Blue have been facing flak from all corners for their terrible show so far and have been criticised for their woeful performance.

Former Pakistan pacer Akram pointed out that India are not taking international cricket seriously while focusing only on IPL. Explaining how the lack of limited-overs cricket in the last few months could have cost the Indian team in the T20 World Cup, Akram said India's senior players were involved in a white-ball series last in March this year.

The former Pakistan pacer has made a valid point as the majority of the players in India's current T20I squad last played a white-ball series against England at home in March this year. India did travel to Sri Lanka for a limited-overs series in July but the squad was full of youngsters and not the senior members, who were busy in the Test series against England at the same time.

"India last played a limited-overs series with all the senior players in March. Now we are in November. So that shows they are not taking those international series seriously. They think playing the IPL is enough. You play as much league cricket in the world that you want. While playing league cricket, you will find one or two good bowlers in the opposition. In international cricket, you will face all five good bowlers," said Akram on Pakistani sports channel A Sports.

Asked to bat first against New Zealand, India's move to promote Ishan Kishan as an opener in place of experienced Rohit Sharma backfired as the young left-hander was dismissed cheaply on 3. The likes of Rohit, KL Rahul and captain Kohli were also sent back cheaply as the team could only manage 110 runs in 20 overs.

New Zealand chased down the target with ease and registered a comprehensive win by eight wickets with as many as 5.3 overs to spare. Akram said it was a one-sided game and that the move to demote Rohit to no.3 in a crucial encounter was a 'big mess-up'.

"It wasn’t a great game. It was a one-sided game. India committed a lot of mistakes. When they lost the toss, I feel they were pushed back a little psychologically. The biggest mess-up was downgrading Rohit Sharma to 3 in a crucial, do-or-die game. The guy has got four centuries in T20Is as opener. They could have made Ishan Kishan bat at 3 too. This was the start when the panic button was pressed," Akram added.

Babar Azam-led Pakistan will square off with Namibia in match 32 of the T20 World Cup 2021 edition, in the UAE. The Men in Green are on a roll with three wins in a row and will be eager to keep their winning streak alive when they face a lowly-ranked Namibia and ensure a semi-final spot.

The one-time winners Pakistan will enter this game on the back of a big win over India whereas they were made to work hard versus New Zealand and Afghanistan. However, Babar & Co. will be more than happy to be stretched at this stage of the tournament, till the time they remain victorious, as it will surely help them in the knockouts. With Pakistan to play Namibia and Scotland, they are expected to top the Pool B with five wins on trot.

On the other hand, Namibia will feel confident to have beaten Scotland as they are positioned above India in the points table after two encounters. While they have tougher times ahead -- as they play India, Pakistan and New Zealand -- they will like to give the Asian giants a tough fight and try to pull off an upset. Will they succeed? The Indian cricket team is facing criticism and bashing from all corners after facing a shambolic eight-wicket defeat at the hands of New Zealand in their second Super 12 clash of the T20 World Cup 2021 on Sunday (October 31). While players are being trolled on social media, questions have been raised about the team's intent and body language in what was a disappointing outing for the Men in Blue against the Kiwis.

Asked to bat first in the must-win game, India got off to a stuttering start as they lost opener Ishan Kishan (3) cheaply before KL Rahul (18) and Rohit Sharma (14) also departed in quick succession. Captain Kohli too had an off day as he could only manage 9 runs off 17 balls before being sent back.

Hardik Pandya (23) and Ravindra Jadeja (26) then combined to take India to 110/7 in 20 overs. However, the low-key total proved a cakewalk for New Zealand as they chased it down within 14.3 overs to register a comprehensive win by eight wickets and push India on the brink of an early elimination from the tournament.

The Indian players have been facing intense criticism and are also being trolled for their poor show. Some have yet again crossed the limits on social media and have resorted to abusing the players and their families, blaming them for the team's loss.

Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir has shared a heartwarming post for the Indian team, extending his support to the Indian players in a time of crisis. Amir said India still is one of the best teams and it is a matter of time while condemning the attack on players and their families.

"I still believe India is a best team its just a matter of having good time or bad time but abusing player's and their family is such a shame don't forget end of the day it's just a game of cricket," Amir said in a tweet.

'Still believe India is best team': Pakistan pacer shares heartwarming post for Kohli & Co. after NZ defeat

England have been on a roll in the ongoing T2 World Cup 2021 with three victories from three matches so far in the showpiece event. The Eoin Morgan-led side has played some fantastic cricket and has dominated the proceedings in the Group 1 of the Super 12 to stand atop the points table so far.

England kicked off their tournament with a six-wicket win against West Indies before thrashing Bangladesh by eight wickets in their second game to make it two wins in a row. England then continued their unbeaten run by thumping Australia by eight wickets in their third game on Saturday (October 30) to consolidate the top spot on the Group 1 table.

On Saturday, England bundled out Australia for a paltry 125 runs after inviting them to bat first in Dubai and then chased down the target with as many as 8.2 overs to spare to earn a convincing victory. England pacers Chris Jordan (3) and Chris Woakes (2) picked up five wickets between them to run through the Aussie batting line-up.

Jos Buttler then slammed a stunning unbeaten 71 off just 32 balls to the Aussie bowling line-up to the cleaners and power England to their third win in a row.

Praising England after their victory against Australia, former England captain Michale Vaughan said England are the best and the most destructive team in the tournament this year, and that he sees only Pakistan as a side who can stop their juggernaut.

"Now that is a message to the rest ... England are the best team & most destructive ... Whose going to stop them!?? Only #Pakistan look likely at this stage #T20WorldCup," Vaughan tweeted.

Former England off-spinner Graeme Swann has predicted that the present ICC T20 World Cup in the UAE will be "the downfall of the West Indies' T20 era," and has tipped either England or Pakistan to win the tournament.

West Indies are the defending champions, but despite having big hitters like Chris Gayle and Kieron Pollard, they have struggled, with the Caribbean side putting in one of their worst T20 performances in recent history, getting bowled out for just 55 runs in their first T20 World Cup 'Super 12' game against England.

"I think it is the downfall of West Indies` T20 era. Age and experience are one thing but it can get highlighted if you are not winning. I'm not saying that this West Indies team is past it and they are like Pakistan, they could bounce back anytime," Swann told cricket.com on Friday.

"But they have had two really, really weak performances (against England and South Africa). If you look at their team, the team is wriggled with top-class batsmen from the IPL but they are just not performing. Maybe it is the end of their era. Not sure if it is their T20 World Cup to be honest," he added.

The former England spinner, who has played 60 Tests and taken over 250 wickets in the longest format of the game, lauded Pakistan and England, calling them the favourites this year.

"England and Pakistan are favourites. That New Zealand game, I was more nervous about Pakistan because after that India victory, I thought we would see the old Pakistan, who would falter. I honestly thought that they wouldn't beat New Zealand but I was completely wrong. I think Matt Hayden (Matthew Hayden) has instilled hardness in this team," Swann said.

Swann also believed that Afghanistan, with a slew of mystery spinners, may pull off a stunner or two in the competition.

"Afghanistan`s win over Scotland was amazing. Scotland aren't quite England`s rivals even though they are closest, although they see England as their rivals. I think a lot of English fans will root for Scotland. It was a bit hard to see them getting destroyed against Afghanistan. It wasn`t their day whatsoever. You forget how strong Afghanistan are. They are more likely to upset teams these days than Bangladesh and Sri Lanka," added Swann.

T20 WC: 'Would not want to face Pakistan in the semis' - Michael Vaughan issues warning to England

A packed Stadium at the peak of its voice, a dramatic build-up to what has rightfully earned the tag of 'mother of all clashes'. The excitement level has sky-rocketed and the hype around the game is surreal, to say the least.

A packed Stadium at the peak of its voice, a dramatic build-up to what has rightfully earned the tag of 'mother of all clashes'. The excitement level has sky-rocketed and the hype around the game is surreal, to say the least. It's India vs Pakistan. Dubai is ready as another hero awaits his fair share of glory. It is not a secret that the contests between the arch-rivals have produced some of the cult heroes for both India and Pakistan, over the years. There is nothing better you could possibly ask for, as a player, if you can steal the thunder in an India-Pakistan game. Not many have had the privilege to experience that feeling but a certain 21-year-old did on Sunday. Dubai awaited a hero as did Pakistan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi stepped up to bowl the spell of his career as he tormented India in a matter of just two deliveries. Two deliveries were all it took for the tall and lanky left-arm pacer to completely shift the momentum in Pakistan's favour as the Men in Green sensed an unforeseeable victory. There is nothing like an India-Pakistan game when it comes to cricket. The sheer hype surrounding the game and the pressure of expectations of billions back home can often get the better of even the toughest of characters in either of the dressing rooms. But Shaheen Afridi had not even the slightest of signs of jitteriness as he took the ball for the opening over of what was going to be the start of a stunning spell. Three balls later, he was up against Rohit Sharma, someone who can single-handedly destroy bowling attacks on his day and can be unstoppable if he gets going. Afridi produced a sensational yorker first up against Rohit, pitched right on the middle stump line, the in-swinger trapped the Hitman plumb. Bowled at over 140 kmph, with a perfect seam position, the ball beat Rohit's flick and crashed into his back pad. Rohit was dismissed on a duck and Afridi continued his magnificent run of surprising openers with magical deliveries in the first over. View this post on Instagram A post shared by ICC T20 World Cup (@t20worldcup) × Afridi is one of the toughest bowlers to face in the first over of a T20 game. That's not a mere claim but a fact proven by stats since his T20 debut in February 2018. The left-arm fast bowler has picked up 22 wickets in 62 innings in the first over of a T20 game. Rohit getting beaten comprehensively in the first over might have come as a surprise to many, but not to those who have followed Afridi's first-over exploits in T20s over the last few years. He is just too good for even the best of openers in the world and the odds are against the batter when it comes to his first six deliveries in a T20 game. Afridi was off to a dream start and so were Pakistan. What better could they have asked for than getting Rohit on a duck in the very first over. But it was far from over as Afridi returned to pile more misery on India in his second over. If the ball to Rohit was brilliant, the one to get Rahul was nothing less than an extraordinary delivery. Afridi nailed an unplayable inswinger on the very first delivery of his second over to bamboozle an in-form Rahul, who was coming off a formidable campaign in IPL 2021. Rahul tried to play it across the line and was beaten thoroughly by the peach which crashed onto his stumps to send him packing for just 3 runs off 8 balls. View this post on Instagram A post shared by ICC T20 World Cup (@t20worldcup) × With those two deliveries, Afridi, playing his first T20 World Cup for Pakistan, announced his arrival against their most coveted opponent India in some style. In what looked like a repeat of Manchester 2019, a left-hand pacer once again wreaked havoc against the top-order and broke the back of the Indian batting line-up in a crunch game. Afridi set the tone for Pakistan and the rest of the bowlers did well to capitalise on the fabulous start as India could only go up to 151/7 in 20 overs with the help of captain Virat Kohli's patient 57 off 49 balls and Rishabh Pant's 39 off 30 deliveries. Afridi later returned to finish his spell with the special wicket of Kohli, sending him back in the 19th over to ensure there was no coming back for India in the game. To make it more special, the 21-year-old became the first Pakistan bowler to dismiss the Indian captain in the T20 World Cup. Afridi had done the damage in his very first over and the repercussions were felt throughout the game as India lost the plot with the ball after a terrible show with the bat. On a night when Afridi made the Indian batsmen dance to his tunes, none of the Indian bowlers managed to pick even a single wicket as Pakistan had a cakewalk in the run-chase. An unbeaten stand of 152 runs from Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan sealed Pakistan's first-ever victory against India in a World Cup match with 13 balls to spare. It was Afridi's magical spell that helped change Pakistan's fate at the biggest stages of them all in world cricket, helping them end a curse that had eluded them a World Cup victory against India. The Men in Green had not tasted victory against their old foes in a cricket World Cup before Sunday. But the 12-0 (7 wins in seven matches in ODI World Cup, 5 wins in five matches in T20 World Cup) streak was buried in Dubai as Pakistan won, and won comprehensively by ten wickets. 21-year-old Afridi won't forget his memorable spell against India in the years to come as he basks in the glory of his success against Kohli's men. Nor will Pakistan let him forget the spell that is one for the ages, and set up their most cherished win against India so far in the history of what has been one of the greatest rivalries on the 22 yards. Not that Pakistan have not earned special victories against India before but to beat them in a World Cup was a dream which remained unfulfilled for several yesteryear greats, who are now rejoicing the heroics of this young Pakistan side led by a young captain, on a mission to rewrite history. For Afridi, it is only the start of what can be a campaign to remember if he can continue surprising his opponents with his impeccable skills, finesse and pace. A naturally gifted fast bowler with an orthodox yet tricky release, he has a long way to go if he can maintain his fitness levels and let the fire in his belly burn in the matches to come. Shaheen Shah Afridi: A spell that changed Pakistan's fate

The Pakistan cricket team have been on a roll in the T20 World Cup 2021 edition, being held in the UAE. The Babar Azam-led team stunned India by ten wickets in their tournament-opener and followed it up with another impressive performance versus New Zealand, emerging on top of the Black Caps by 5 wickets.

Hence, the Men in Green look certain to top the Pool B, at this stage, and enter the semi-finals. While they still have three games to go in the Super 12 round, things can change for the worse in no time. Hence, in order to keep them motivated and focused at all times, their interim head coach and former spinner Saqlain Mushtaq has come up with a unique way to keep the Pakistan team's spirits high at all times.

T20 WC: Saqlain Mushtaq takes unique step to keep Babar Azam-led Pakistan motivated during practice sessions

Pakistan got off to a flier in the Super 12 round of the T20 World Cup 2021 edition, in the UAE. The Babar Azam-led Men in Green romped past Virat Kohli & Co. by ten wickets to end the Indian team's 12-match winning streak over Pakistan in World Cups, both ODIs and T20Is, and have now also toppled Kane Williamson-led New Zealand in match 19 of the marquee event to make it two wins in a row.

Opting to bowl first, Pakistan rode on Shaheen Afridi, Imad Wasim and Harish Rauf's (4 for 22) performances to restrict the Kiwis to 134-8. While the run-chase got intense, Pakistan held their nerves courtesy finishing knocks from Shoaib Malik and Asif Ali to to march past the Black Caps.

Many termed the Pak-NZ encounter as a grudge match for the Pakistani line-up, who went through a lot of humiliation after the New Zealand Cricket Board (NZC) pulled out of their tour of Pakistan -- in mid-September -- just before the tour-opener, citing security concerns. The aftermath of the incident led to England also withdrawing from their tour of Pakistan, by not sending both their men's and women's teams.

Hence, former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar took a jibe at the Kiwis after their Pakistan defeat. He told on his Youtube channel, "Congratulations to New Zealand that they didn’t come to Pakistan but were you safe in the UAE? We forgot to send security within the field because we thought maybe you wouldn’t feel safe on the ground as well."

“I have a request for all Pakistanis and Indians, and all my fans, to please send an e-mail to the New Zealand cricket board that – Pakistan is a safe country but not a safe team to play against,” he further said.

With New Zealand's defeat, Virat Kohli-led India will also breathe a sigh of relief with regard to their qualification hopes. A win for the Black Caps would have made them a strong contender to finish as the runners-up in Pool B and enter the semi-finals. However, the India versus New Zealand tie is being touted as a shootout between the two teams for the second spot, with Pakistan looking certain to top the group and march into the top four.

In this regard, Akhtar told, "Today, for a change, the whole of India was behind Pakistan to win the match. Because if we were to lose today, and if India lose against New Zealand, they would’ve got into real trouble. So, we (Pakistan) saved you (India). We want you to make it to the finals. T20 WC: Haris Rauf, Asif Ali shine as Pakistan beat New Zealand by 5 wickets to bag 2nd win in a row

Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar has aimed a cheeky dig at the New Zealand cricket team ahead of their much-anticipated clash against Pakistan in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021. New Zealand had pulled out of their limited-overs tour of Pakistan earlier this year, citing security reasons. The New Zealand squad was training in Rawalpindi ahead of the first ODI between the two teams but did not take the field on the day of the game.

They subsequently called off their tour and returned home without playing a single game in Pakistan. Ahead of the meeting between the two sides in the T20 World Cup 2021, the hype surrounding the game is at an all-time high as several former Pakistan cricketers and experts have backed Babar Azam & Co. to exact revenge from the Kiwis over their decision to pull out of their tour of the country earlier this year.

Ahead of Pakistan's meeting against New Zealand, Akhtar decided to take a swipe at the Kiwis and urged the Pakistani fans to not make too much noise inside the stadium. Akhtar jokingly said New Zealand might ask for the game to be called off if the fans make too much noise inside the stadium.

"I request all Pakistan fans to remain silent and not enjoy too extravagantly. There is every chance that New Zealand may ask for the match to be called off due to too much noise inside the stadium, if not for security concerns. #T20WorldCup," Akhtar wrote in a tweet.
