<p>In a sweet yet emotional birthday post, American singer-performer Pink has paid tribute to her dead father Jim Moore on what would have been his 76th birthday.&nbsp;</p>

On Friday, the 'Just Give Me A Reason' singer's father would have turned 76 and Pink celebrated the special occasion by sharing a heartfelt note on her Instagram account.</p>

In her post, she expressed her sadness over his death and how she is not ready to accept that he is gone. She said that she got to know him for 42 years only.</p>

"That’s a long time. That’s not that long. When I reach into my memories of us to try to understand our relationship I remember our fights first. Screaming. Crying. Misunderstanding And then like a parallel universe. Simultaneously I remember the way you would pat my hand and say 'aww' to remind me to be gentler. To remind me that I was nicer than that thing I said," said &nbsp;Pink.&nbsp;</p>

Jim Moore died in August after battling prostate cancer for a while. In July of 2020, the singer revealed that Moore had undergone his second round of chemotherapy for the deadly disease.</p>

Singer Pink honours late father in an emotional birthday post

<p>The vast fields of Warsaw’s Bemowo airport have hosted concerts by some of the world’s biggest stars. Michael Jackson played there. So did Madonna. Metallica, too.</p>

But Oct. 2, more than 30,000 people — many young teenagers, with their parents acting as chaperones — crowded together next to the runway waiting for a new star to get onstage: Michal Matczak, a 21-year-old rapper with bleached-blond hair and a constant grin, better known as Mata.</p>

“He’s like the representative of our generation,” said Joseph Altass, 20, a student who traveled from Gdynia, more than 200 miles north of Warsaw, for the concert.</p>

Zuzia Waskiewicz, 19, sharing a bottle of flavored vodka with a friend, agreed: “He’s the first person talking about real things about us.”</p>

When Mata appeared at 8 p.m., it was clear he was speaking to the younger generation in the audience: One of the night’s first tracks, “Blok,” was about moving out from his parents’ home and annoying his new neighbors by partying. Then Mata played an ode to marijuana, followed by a tune about drinking on the concrete steps that line the Vistula River in Warsaw. The crowd rapped along to every word.</p>

Mata’s impact in Poland has been inescapable. Earlier this year, one of his tracks, “Kiss Cam,” was streamed so frequently, it appeared on one of Billboard’s global charts — a first for a Polish act. When last Friday he released “Mlody Matczak” (“Young Matczak”), his second album focused on his early adulthood, it instantly topped the country’s Spotify chart. Several of his songs have over 50 million views on YouTube.</p>

But one specific track marked Mata’s explosive entrance into Polish cultural life two years ago: “Patointeligencja” (an amalgam of the Polish words for pathology, and intelligentsia). Over spare production, Mata paints a picture of life as a student at Batory, an elite high school in Warsaw where many students are expected to push for admission to the world’s best universities. In his telling, few of the students are quietly studying for their final exams. <p>"Touring can definitely be grueling. And I think the same way I was able to kind of set boundaries for this project and be able to prioritize time with my wife and time that I'm not working and be off the grid, I think as long as I do that throughout this tour. It's always kind of like, 'You live and you learn,' and you just learn how to say no. There was this quote the other day that I heard, it was like, 'Don't be resentful about something you say yes to, just do it and then when you're done, reassess your boundaries and don't do it again,' so I kind of am trying to live by that," he was quoted as saying.</p>

<p>They may look astonishingly similar but their music is as different (and unique!) as water and fire. Comprising Luv and Kush, Chandani brothers—of Indian origin; born and bred in America—are the first <em>desi</em> bunch to infiltrate Grammy-winning rapper <a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/lifestyle/news-rapper-wiz-khalifa-to-collaborate-with-indian-american-rb-duo-themxxnlight-401184">Wiz Khalifa’s inner gang</a>, and now they have graduated from just being his gig openers to full-blown music collaborators.</p>

The only Indians to have ever worked with the ‘See You Again’ musician, which was the most listened to song when it had released, Luv and Kush think it’s a blessing that they have found a sense of belonging and brotherhood in the R&amp;B genre.</p>

<p>“I have never liked that aspect of the industry as it just feels so unnecessary,” says one of them when quizzed about the dissing culture American music scene is notorious for. Other than that, the brothers are all for love and friendship. At least, that's what they say.</p>

Excerpts from WION’s exclusive conversation with THEMXXNLIGHT from America:</p>

<strong>WION: You have opened gigs for Wiz Khalifa in the past and now this collaboration with him. For a band that is relatively new, getting to work with a rapper of Wiz Khalifa’s stature is an incredible achievement. How did it all start?</strong></p>

<strong>THEMXXNLIGHT:</strong> <strong>(Luv)</strong> It’s truly a blessing! We got discovered in 2018 by Sledgren—Wiz Khalifa’s producer. We were then featured on five songs that Wiz released on his albums. And then from there we developed a very close relationship with Wiz and the team and we have been in the studio with him 100+ times.</p>

<strong>(Kush)</strong> It is definitely crazy and we are super proud to have come this far in such a short amount of time. We started making music in 2016 and it sort of came to us naturally. We took that as a sign and started to release a song every 2 months. After a few releases, Wiz Khalifa’s label reached out and sent us some beats. The rest is history!</p>

<strong>THEMXXNLIGHT: (Luv) </strong>There is definitely multiple sources of revenue for an artiste. Obviously throughout Covid it’s been pretty difficult, but we were always taught to have multiple sources of revenue in different fields, so many people don’t know that we are also luxury and celebrity real estate agents ‘Chandani Twins’ with a company of our own that is the nation’s (referring to America) largest brokerage, so that definitely helps.</p>

<strong>(Kush)</strong> Luckily for us, we are heavily into real estate and work 12 hours a day in this career. So, we are able to fund our independent releases because of this! We have never had to rely on tours for money and we are blessed in that sense.</p>

<strong>WION: Some may argue that R&amp;B, as a genre, is predominantly Black. There are exceptions, of course. As Indo-Americans, did you ever feel unwelcome in terms of music, or generally in life?</strong></p>

<strong>THEMXXNLIGHT: (Luv) </strong>At first, there was definitely a slight feeling of this (lack of support), but as we kept growing in the industry and after our songs with Wiz released, it changed everything.</p>

Stuff like that never happens in R&amp;B since our music is all about love and relationships pretty much. I would never want to be disturbed by anyone and I would never want to disturb anyone, I do not support taunting and humiliating through music at all, music is supposed to be sacred and appreciated by all.</p>

<strong>WION: To win 'Best Indian Film' and 'Best Biographical Film' all at once and on a platform like the Cannes World Film Festival happens very rarely, and is a marvelous achievement in itself. How did you react to the news? Has it sunk in yet?</strong></p>

<strong>SHANKAR MAHADEVAN:</strong> Yeah, I mean, how can I describe what I'm feeling it is a feeling absolute. I'm feeling absolutely ecstatic and overwhelmed. overjoyed You know, when we made this film, you know, it was it was just, it was just deep TC one's passion and his her dedication to the subject, you know, and I had faith in it and, you know, we just made it but never in our dreams, we thought that, you know, it's gonna win so many awards and get represented in so many festivals. And I don't think that those things were in our mind, especially and, you know, and whatever this film, The success of this film, the kind of recognition that it's got all the awards, all the accolades that this film has got, I owe it to this person, Deepti Sivan, who is who has really, really, really worked hard and, you know, done a lot of research on this. So everything I dedicate to her because I'm just playing. It's about me, I know that but, you know, but all the awards, all the accolades and all the recognition is for DPC one and her team.</p>

<strong>WION: If you were to ‘decode’ Shankar—the person—how would you describe him?</strong></p>

<p><br />
<strong>SHANKAR MAHADEVAN: </strong>Yeah, if I have to decode me, I think I'm a person who doesn't take things very seriously. I believe in peace. Peace is my number one agenda in life. And love is peace and love are two very, very important things. And if you decode me, I would say that anger and ego are two things that I don't believe in. And I think I'm a person who likes to derive big pleasures out of very, very simple things.</p>

<strong>WION: Since we are talking about your life and legacy, what has been the most profound experience that has shaped you as a musician and altered your approach towards life—for better or worse?</strong></p>

<p><br />
<strong>SHANKAR MAHADEVAN:</strong> Well, being a musician many times, we realize that we are blessed; not all the people around you have the power of music, the magic of music. And when you realize that you really feel so blessed and so happy and you're in gratitude. And I think the people around me have always been so supportive. My wife (Sangeeta Mahadevan), when I was just going around with her, and you know, and I was an engineer, I was a successful engineer. But she's the one who told me that, you know, there may be a million engineers, but I think that there's going to be only one Shankar Mahadevan, and I think moments like these, they have really defined my musical career and they have helped me progress. Man also meeting the correct kind of people in the correct place doing the correct kind of music, and re and that, that music reaching out to the people of the country and all over the world. You know, you got to be really the timing and everything should be so perfect, and I was one of those lucky people to get all those aspects in my life.</p>

<strong>WION: How has Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, or the ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’ of Bollywood, contributed to the moment leading up to your Cannes win?</strong></p>

<p><br />
<strong>SHANKAR MAHADEVAN: </strong>Shankar Ehsaan Loy, the trio, it's been a part of my life. And I think it is, it's like a marriage, you know, the way we worked our partnership, our music, how we function, it is like, it's like how marriage functions, you know, we have to work on it on a daily basis. Of course, there are ups and downs and you know, there are emotional disagreements, creative discrepancies, but, but we know, for a fact that all three of us we are looking at the bigger picture, we are looking at the success of the song, the beauty of the song, the the final product that comes out, so, even never in our mind has it ever crossed. That, you know, we have to split up and we have to just, you know, become individual, you know, we can't function as a team anymore, we have never ever thought of that, because we ourselves are very different individuals and have individual, you know, our own lives to handle. But when we come together, it's automatically a team. And, and there's a lot of respect, between the three of us respect as people, and also for creative ideas. And unless you respect the other person's creative idea, I don't think you can, you know, you can go forward in life, and they have been instrumental in a lot of, you know, musical moments in my life, which are so, so, so important. And we have created music that that's going to stay on this planet for a very, very long time. I mean, there are many many songs that these pieces of music are going to stay for a very, very long time and my band have been instrumental in that, so I thank them for that.</p>

<strong>WION: Having worked for so long in the industry and accomplishing almost everything there is to accomplish, where do you stand ambition-wise? Do you still have the hunger to explore new ground or are you content to slow down a bit?&nbsp;</strong></p>

<strong>SHANKAR MAHADEVAN: </strong>Oh, I've been in the industry for many many years but not for a minute I feel that I have been there and I've done that and I've accomplished so much. And I don't need to do anything more I never ever feel because always that feeling of thirst or hunger of exploring so many things, I really, really honestly sincerely feel that I have not even scratched the surface of music. There is so much more to do and there is so many there are so many possibilities, you know, had I been a little more less lazy, I would have done even more than what I'm doing but I know that you know there are I derive pleasure from other things other than music also like you know, being with family and spending small moments, you know, enjoying the you know, pleasures of just being at home with my children. You know, spending time with my wife and doing in a traveling-around holiday. These are also very, very important (things). Like cooking, these things are very important for me. So, you know, some music I have done music but I I always feel that there is so much more to do and so little time. So you know that hunger is I mean, tremendous amount of hunger is always there.</p>

I believe in peace. Peace is my number one agenda in life. And love is peace and love are two very, very important things. And if you decode me, I would say that anger and ego are two things that I don't believe in. And I think I'm a person who likes to derive big pleasures out of very, very simple things. SHANKAR MAHADEVAN: Well, being a musician many times, we realize that we are blessed; not all the people around you have the power of music, the magic of music. And when you realize that you really feel so blessed and so happy and you're in gratitude. And I think the people around me have always been so supportive. My wife (Sangeeta Mahadevan), when I was just going around with her, and you know, and I was an engineer, I was a successful engineer. But she's the one who told me that, you know, there may be a million engineers, but I think that there's going to be only one Shankar Mahadevan, and I think moments like these, they have really defined my musical career and they have helped me progress. Man also meeting the correct kind of people in the correct place doing the correct kind of music, and re and that, that music reaching out to the people of the country and all over the world. You know, you got to be really the timing and everything should be so perfect, and I was one of those lucky people to get all those aspects in my life. WION: How has Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, or the ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’ of Bollywood, contributed to the moment leading up to your Cannes win? SHANKAR MAHADEVAN: Shankar Ehsaan Loy, the trio, it's been a part of my life. And I think it is, it's like a marriage, you know, the way we worked our partnership, our music, how we function, it is like, it's like how marriage functions, you know, we have to work on it on a daily basis. Of course, there are ups and downs and you know, there are emotional disagreements, creative discrepancies, but, but we know, for a fact that all three of us we are looking at the bigger picture, we are looking at the success of the song, the beauty of the song, the the final product that comes out, so, even never in our mind has it ever crossed. That, you know, we have to split up and we have to just, you know, become individual, you know, we can't function as a team anymore, we have never ever thought of that, because we ourselves are very different individuals and have individual, you know, our own lives to handle. But when we come together, it's automatically a team. And, and there's a lot of respect, between the three of us respect as people, and also for creative ideas. And unless you respect the other person's creative idea, I don't think you can, you know, you can go forward in life, and they have been instrumental in a lot of, you know, musical moments in my life, which are so, so, so important. And we have created music that that's going to stay on this planet for a very, very long time. I mean, there are many many songs that these pieces of music are going to stay for a very, very long time and my band have been instrumental in that, so I thank them for that. Do you still have the hunger to explore new ground or are you content to slow down a bit? SHANKAR MAHADEVAN: Oh, I've been in the industry for many many years but not for a minute I feel that I have been there and I've done that and I've accomplished so much. And I don't need to do anything more I never ever feel because always that feeling of thirst or hunger of exploring so many things, I really, really honestly sincerely feel that I have not even scratched the surface of music. There is so much more to do and there is so many there are so many possibilities, you know, had I been a little more less lazy, I would have done even more than what I'm doing but I know that you know there are I derive pleasure from other things other than music also like you know, being with family and spending small moments, you know, enjoying the you know, pleasures of just being at home with my children. You know, spending time with my wife and doing in a traveling-around holiday. These are also very, very important (things). Like cooking, these things are very important for me. So, you know, some music I have done music but I I always feel that there is so much more to do and so little time. So you know that hunger is I mean, tremendous amount of hunger is always there.
