India must welcome competition in satellite internet, from Indian and global providers, whoever offers the most practical and affordable last-mile solution for those in remote regions. In countries with lower per-capita incomes, satellite internet must be affordable too. High subscription fees and equipment costs risk putting it beyond the reach of ordinary households. Connectivity must bridge the digital divide, not create a new one.

India knows our networks and spectrum are strategic infrastructure, not merely commercial assets. India’s national security safeguards are non-negotiable.

Every country makes choices based on its own interests. Those in the West cannot preach free markets while practicing protectionism at home. USA imposed 100% tariffs on Chinese EVs to protect its domestic industry, just as India takes measures to protect its own domestic manufacturers. Both India and the US have restricted Huawei over security concerns. One cannot demand a level playing field from others only when it suits its own agenda.

Indians will internally debate, question and address our strengths and shortcomings as a democratic country.

Take BharatNet, India’s programme to bring broadband to village-level local bodies. We will question why, as the CAG’s 2026 audit report found, the programme is struggling to meet its original objectives. Why were only 33.2% of service-ready Gram Panchayats operational, despite ₹39,888 crore being spent? At the same time, we know to appreciate our telecom sector and regulations, which has made internet data among the world’s most affordable, bringing millions online.

India is a democracy, not a colony. We welcome the world, but we, the Indian people, will decide our own future - not Western vested interests, their double standards or any billionaire - Indian or American.</p>&mdash; Kamal Haasan (@ikamalhaasan) <a href="https://x.com/ikamalhaasan/status/2108549307230244902?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">October 9, 2026</a></blockquote>

Days after her controversial remarks on Kriti Sanon’s jewellery-brand outfit buzz, Kangana Ranaut made a shocking statement, saying that women are free to wear whatever they choose on Raksha Bandhan.

Days after sparking controversy over her remark on Kriti Sanon's jewellery brand campaign, BJP MP and actor Kangana Ranaut is back, making new statements. This time, the Queen star appeared to react to Sanon while speaking about Raksha Bandhan celebrations, saying that women are free to wear whatever they want. Kangana's previous remark about the Cocktail 2 actress and questioning her about her outfit in the Rakhi ad has stirred debate online. Kangana Ranaut takes another swipe at Kriti Sanon On August 26, Kangana Ranaut appeared on Sudhir Chaudhary's prime-time show, DECODE. During the conversation, Sudhir Chaudhary questioned her bikini remark about Kriti Sanon and asked about the broader debate over women's choice of clothing. Ranaut said her comments were not a personal attack on Sanon. Kis ne unhe roka hai, kis ko kya padi hai?" (The way she dresses in her films, who has stopped her from wearing anything she wants? I don't think anybody has anything to do with her choice of outfits) Concluding her remarks, the BJP MP said, "A woman can wear whatever she wants to wear on Raksha Bandhan." Further, Ranaut argues that an individual's personal choices cannot always be separated from the cultural context in which they are made. She stated, "How can one have such a foolish way of thinking? The aesthetic expression of any civilisation is its festival." In response to the controversy surrounding the campaign's withdrawal, Kangana claimed that the outfit was only a small part of the problem. “The bralette was a very small part, the bigger concern was that the advertisement did not feature several elements traditionally associated with Raksha Bandhan celebrations. Like, where are the parents? Where is the home? There was no halwa, puri, God, tilak, akshat, incense or lamp—nothing,” she said. <p>She stated, "Yes, I am an <i>andhbhakt</i> (blind follower). If it is <i>bhakti </i>(devotion) to love your country and want to see it progress, then yes, I am proud to be a <i>bhakt… andhbhakt</i>. But my blind devotion is not towards any political party; it’s towards my country. Nation first. I can question the government and disagree with its policies, and still love my country wholeheartedly."</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>She further spoke about India and how proud she is to live there. “This country is my home, where I have earned and continue to earn a livelihood and where I continue to get opportunities. So, I am not ashamed to be proud of my country. Wherever you may live, learn to love that place, respect that place, and contribute to it. Be proud of the home you choose, because patriotism is not just saying, ‘I love my country.’ It is doing something that improves your country,” Koppikar said.</p><h2>Kangana Ranaut's ‘Generation Gutter’ remark</h2><p>Before Isha Koppikar, Ranaut also faced significant criticism after calling the country’s youth “Generation Gutter.” In her viral video, Ranaut was seen saying, “Never in my life have I seen so much ugliness in one place. These reels from Gen Z protests are puke-inducing. The way they speak and the kind of language they are using... never in my life have I seen everything in each and every frame so jarring and so crass all at once....I call them Generation Gutter. Some of them have nothing to offer to the system. They are not good at studies."</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Her remarks drew backlash and later led her to clarify that her comments were not aimed at all youth or Gen Z, but at specific individuals who use vulgar language.</p>

Isha Koppikar is trending online due to her ‘andhbhakt’ remark. Amid massive backlash, Kangana Ranaut backed the actress over her clarification video, recalling her high school days of protesting.

Indian actress and politician Isha Koppikar recently sparked a stir on social media after condemning alleged derogatory and abusive remarks directed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his mother at the Jantar Mantar protest in New Delhi. Her remark drew attention, with many linking it to a political angle. After significant criticism, the actress took a jab at online trolls and posted a video, calling herself an “andhbhakt" (blind follower). Supporting Koppikar, BJP MP and actor Kangana Ranaut shared the Instagram video on her official social media account, showing her support and echoing the actress's statement. Kangana Ranaut backs Isha Koppikar On August 18, Tuesday, Isha Koppikar posted a video in which she declared herself a proud "andhbhakt" (blind devotee). In support of her, Kangana Ranaut stepped forward and backed Isha’s comments, sharing the actress's video on her Instagram Stories and explaining why she related to the sentiment.

At moments, the movie goes overboard with dialogues and actions that may feel unnecessary or overdone. But that’s the little creative liberty that’s always demanded by a film. Having watched so many movies and documentaries on this incident, I can say this movie captures the events with both emotion and fear, alongside moments of warmth.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Also Read: </strong><a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/bollywood/bharat-bhhagya-viddhaata-kangana-ranaut-s-film-wins-delhi-cm-rekha-gupta-s-praise-announces-tax-free-release-1781079500491"><strong>Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata: Kangana Ranaut's film wins Delhi CM Rekha Gupta's praise; announces tax-free release</strong></a></p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Apart from the title (being a little over the top), <i>Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata</i> gains respect for the topic it is on and the emotions that it had. I am scarred from these reels, need some healing, digital detox.”</p>
