In its continuous drive against terror activities in Jammu and Kashmir, the J&K Police arrested two terror associates in the Doda districts of the Jammu region. Meanwhile, Security forces in the Kishtwar area also attached properties of seven terrorists who have been operating from across the border in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK). A major hideout was also busted by security forces in the Mankote area of Mendhar in the Poonch district of Jammu region. Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested two ground workers in Doda and Udhampur districts. Police believe they were planning anti-national activities and were taking orders from terrorists and handlers from across the border. One of the terror associates was identified as Firdous Ahmad working to revive terror activities in the region. Security forces also busted a hideout in the Poonch district and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition along with incriminating materials. Security forces recovered an Improvised Explosive Device, RDX, One battery, two blankets and eatables from the hideout site. Security forces also attached the properties of around half a dozen terrorists operating from across the Border in Pakistan. The National Investigative Agency Court earlier had declared 36 people as absconders operating from across the border. And among those, 7 terrorist properties were attached by the NIA Special court orders. Jammu and Kashmir Police's top official said that the drive to attach properties of absconding terrorists will continue in the region. The video allegedly features a photo of Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan and a poster from his movie Phantom. Police said "the enemy" released the 5 minutes 55 seconds video at 2 pm Monday and people should not forward it. "Forwarding of content of this nature is an offence under section 13 and 18 of UAPA," the police warned.

It also released a public advisory regarding what people should do regarding the propaganda video.

"First, they will not forward it in any manner to anyone."

"Second, they will report by a message as to who have they received this propaganda video from. Mention the telephone number and the date and time of the receipt of the video."

While the Army has said that minor differences between its soldiers and policemen had been amicably resolved, an FIR lodged by police in J&amp;K’s Kupwara district has booked 16 soldiers, including three Lt Colonels in the case of beating of policemen after barging into the police station.

A police FIR has named 16 Army men, including three Lieutenant Colonels, for their involvement in allegedly beating policemen inside the Kupwara police station.

A group of soldiers had barged into the Kupwara police station on Monday around 11.50 p.m. and allegedly beaten up policemen.

The FIR lodged by police says that a huge number of armed and uniformed personnel of 160 Territorial Army led by three officers unauthorisedly entered the premises of police station Kupwara and they collectively and without any provocation in the form of unlawful assembly severely attacked the staff and officers present at the police station with rifle butts, kicks and sticks.

“The information was immediately conveyed to senior police officers who rushed to the police station to rescue them. Upon seeing the arrival of police units and senior police officers the personnel and officers of 160 Territorial Army led by Lieutenant Colonel Ankit Sood, Raju Chauhan and Nikhil brandished their weapons and snatched the mobile phones of the injured personnel and SHO police station Kupwara, Inspector Mohammad Ishaq. While fleeing they abducted Mohari's Head constable, Ghulam Rasool along with them and absconded from the spot," the FIR says.

Before it could be picked up by the over-the-ground&nbsp;workers in the area, the security forces managed to bust it and recover the ammunition.

''The packet we have recovered has been opened and we have found three&nbsp;Chinese pistols, six&nbsp;magazines and four grenades from it. We are making an inventory and investigating the case. This area falls under Vijaypur thana of Samba district. We will investigate and see who the arms and ammunition was being handed over to, '' said Surinder Chaudhary, Additional SP Samba.

The security forces have also introduced anti-drone technology in these areas close to the LoC. Recently, security forces also recovered sticky bombs and perfume IED payloads from areas close to the border areas. Security forces say new techniques and technology are being used to tackle the issue of these payloads with the help of anti-drone equipment.

''As I said, the threat keeps evolving and the enemy also tries to evolve and come up with new things, so sticky bomb is nothing new and perfume IED is something which has come up, my point is whenever such threat emerges, all the stakeholders sit and put their heads together to neutralise that threat before it can do any damage, we also evolve our own SOPs as to how to deal with such situation on the ground. We also try to train and brief our Jawans as to who will be responding on the ground. How to tackle such an emerging threat. It's important to brief it down the line to the last man on the ground so that he is aware of the threat and can neutralise it, '' said M S Bhatia, IG CPRF (Kashmir Operations).

The security forces in these bordering areas have many times brought down the drones coming from across the border. And most of the drones that were recovered are made in China and have a capacity of carrying around 20-30 kgs. They are used to carry arms and ammunition like AK-47 rifles, pistols, grenades, IEDs as well as narcotics and cash.

While interacting with media on Thursday (February 2), the J&amp;K Police Director General Dilbag&nbsp;Singh said that, “A ‘perfume IED’,&nbsp;the first of its kind, has been recovered from the possession of the arrested terrorist. This is a first new approach after the terrorist used sticky bombs. They have also used timer-fitted IEDs earlier.”&nbsp;

"We have seen previously that various types of IEDs have been used by terrorists with explosive materials, sticky bombs and the timer-fitted ones, but this time we have recovered a new type of IED, which is the 'perfume IED'. This IED is like a perfume bottle but contains explosive material. Since the IED is new to us, experts will see how harmful and how powerful it can be," said Singh.&nbsp;

He also commended the J&amp;K police officers probing the Narwal case. He said that they achieved a major success in the form of the arrest of Arif Ahmed, a resident of the Reasi district of Jammu, within 11 days of the blast.&nbsp;

"Arif is a government employee and is an active terrorist of the Lashkar-e-Taiba outfit. He will not only lose his job, but we will file a strong case against him. Although he has very cleverly burnt all the evidence like his clothes, shoes and he even his mobile phone. But police worked hard on even small inputs and leads that led to the arrest of Arif," Singh added. &nbsp;

The DG of JK Police said that the main aim of these IEDs is to target innocent people and to trigger communal hatred in the Jammu region. According to the police, Arif has revealed that these IEDs were air-dropped through drones from across the border.&nbsp;

India: J&K police recover ‘perfume bomb’ for the first time, from arrested Lashkar terrorist

Jammu and Kashmir Police has called the year 2022 a very successful one in&nbsp;anti-terror operations in the Kashmir region. The police informed that 172 terrorists have been killed in over 90 operations in the Kashmir Valley. Among those killed, 42 were foreign terrorists, mostly belonging to Pakistan.&nbsp;

“During the year 2022, total of 93 successful encounters took place in Kashmir in which 172 terrorists, including 42 foreign terrorists, were neutralised. Maximum terrorists neutralised were from Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT)/The Resistant Front (TRF) (108) outfit followed by JeM (35), HM (22), Al-Badr (4) and AGuH (3) outfits,” said Vijay Kumar, ADGP, Kashmir Police.&nbsp;

Kashmir Police has also noted the decline in the number of youths joining the terror outfits in the valley. According to data, there is a decline of around 37 per cent in recruitment in terror organisations. And most of the recently joined terrorists have already been killed in the encounters, said police officials.&nbsp;

“This year, 100 fresh recruitments in&nbsp;terrorist ranks were reported, showing a decline of 37 per cent compared to last year. Maximum (74) joined LeT. Out of total recruitment, 65 terrorists were neutralised in encounters, 17 were arrested, and 18 terrorists are still active,” said Kumar.&nbsp;

Jammu and Kashmir Police also said that the lifespan of the newly recruited terrorists has been brought down drastically as well. Among the 172 local terrorists killed this year, 65 of them were newly recruited and most of them were killed within the first month of joining.&nbsp;

“The life span of newly recruited terrorists declined drastically. Out of total 65 newly recruited terrorists killed this year, 58 (89 per cent) were neutralised within first month of their joining,” added ADGP Kumar.&nbsp;

With the authorities running a major crackdown operation throughout the year, a huge quantity of arms and ammunition have been recovered in various operations across the valley from the terrorists. With the weapons arsenal depleted, the terror outfits are facing a tough time.&nbsp;

“This year huge quantities of weapons (360) were recovered during encounters and modules' busting which include 121 AK series rifles, eight (8)&nbsp;M4 Carbine &amp; 231 pistols. Besides, timely seizure of IEDs, Sticky Bombs and Grenades averted major terror incidents."

Although one of the major challenges for the security forces in the year 2022 was civilian killings. Jammu and Kashmir Police claimed to have killed all the terrorists involved in the civilian killings in the region. Around 29 civilians were killed during various attacks in the Valley.&nbsp;

“During the year, total 29 civilians killed by terrorists include 21 locals (six Hindu including three Kashmiri Pandits and 15 Muslims) and eight (8) from other states. All terrorists involved in these terror crimes have been neutralised except Basit Dar and&nbsp;Adil Wani who will be neutralised soon,” said Vijay Kumar.&nbsp;

Security forces also had to bear losses during the year 2022. Multiple attacks by terrorists were carried out across the Kashmir Valley in which 26 security personnel lost their lives.&nbsp;

“During the year, total 26 security forces personnel including 14 JKP personnel attained martyrdom during terror attacks/encounters. Majority of terrorists involved in these terror crimes have been neutralised,” said Vijay Kumar, ADGP, Kashmir Police.&nbsp;

However, Jammu and Kashmir Police said that there have been major changes in the mindset of the people in the region. They claim that house owners are denying shelter to the terrorists and parents are not feeling proud of their children joining the terror ranks.&nbsp;

"Two remarkable changes observed in society; House owners started denying shelter to terrorists and parents don’t feel proud if their wards join terrorism. Rather they appeal them to return, curse terrorists openly and&nbsp;work with JKP for the return of their wards," said Vijay Kumar, ADGP.

Jammu and Kashmir Police has called the year 2022 a very successful one in anti-terror operations in the Kashmir region. The police informed that 172 terrorists have been killed in over 90 operations in the Kashmir Valley.

Among those killed, 42 were foreign terrorists, mostly belonging to Pakistan. “During the year 2022, total of 93 successful encounters took place in Kashmir in which 172 terrorists, including 42 foreign terrorists, were neutralised. Maximum terrorists neutralised were from Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT)/The Resistant Front (TRF) (108) outfit followed by JeM (35), HM (22), Al-Badr (4) and AGuH (3) outfits,” said Vijay Kumar, ADGP, Kashmir Police. Kashmir Police has also noted the decline in the number of youths joining the terror outfits in the valley. According to data, there is a decline of around 37 per cent in recruitment in terror organisations. And most of the recently joined terrorists have already been killed in the encounters, said police officials. “This year, 100 fresh recruitments in terrorist ranks were reported, showing a decline of 37 per cent compared to last year. Maximum (74) joined LeT. Out of total recruitment, 65 terrorists were neutralised in encounters, 17 were arrested, and 18 terrorists are still active,” said Kumar. Among the 172 local terrorists killed this year, 65 of them were newly recruited and most of them were killed within the first month of joining. “The life span of newly recruited terrorists declined drastically. Out of total 65 newly recruited terrorists killed this year, 58 (89 per cent) were neutralised within first month of their joining,” added ADGP Kumar. With the authorities running a major crackdown operation throughout the year, a huge quantity of arms and ammunition have been recovered in various operations across the valley from the terrorists. With the weapons arsenal depleted, the terror outfits are facing a tough time. “This year huge quantities of weapons (360) were recovered during encounters and modules' busting which include 121 AK series rifles, eight (8) M4 Carbine & 231 pistols. Besides, timely seizure of IEDs, Sticky Bombs and Grenades averted major terror incidents." Jammu and Kashmir Police claimed to have killed all the terrorists involved in the civilian killings in the region. Around 29 civilians were killed during various attacks in the Valley. “During the year, total 29 civilians killed by terrorists include 21 locals (six Hindu including three Kashmiri Pandits and 15 Muslims) and eight (8) from other states. All terrorists involved in these terror crimes have been neutralised except Basit Dar and Adil Wani who will be neutralised soon,” said Vijay Kumar. Security forces also had to bear losses during the year 2022. Multiple attacks by terrorists were carried out across the Kashmir Valley in which 26 security personnel lost their lives. “During the year, total 26 security forces personnel including 14 JKP personnel attained martyrdom during terror attacks/encounters. Majority of terrorists involved in these terror crimes have been neutralised,” said Vijay Kumar, ADGP, Kashmir Police. However, Jammu and Kashmir Police said that there have been major changes in the mindset of the people in the region. They claim that house owners are denying shelter to the terrorists and parents are not feeling proud of their children joining the terror ranks. "Two remarkable changes observed in society; House owners started denying shelter to terrorists and parents don’t feel proud if their wards join terrorism. "This recovery of warlike stores from the sensitive Navapachchi area has delivered a decisive blow to the nefarious designs of terrorists attempting to reorganise themselves. It has reiterated the total domination of security forces in the Kishtwar District and also showcased the close co-ordination between Army and Kashmir J&amp;K Police," said Indian Army’s PRO.&nbsp;

Indian Army and police bust militant terrorist hideout in J&K’s Kishtwar

A Jammu and Kashmir Police constable was killed during a shootout against the terrorists in the Zoonimar area of Soura in the outskirts of Kashmir's Srinagar district.

The police said they have identified the terrorists involved in the attack and will track them soon.&nbsp;

The Jammu and Kashmir Police earlier tweeted that “in a brief shootout at Soura area of Srinagar City, SgCT Amir Hussain Lone R/O Kupwara got injured &amp; attained martyrdom. We pay rich tributes to the martyr &amp; stand by his family at this critical juncture.'”

A wreath laying ceremony was held for the constable at district Police lines in Srinagar. All high-ranking officials from the police department and paramilitary forces were present and paid rich tributes to the slain personnel.&nbsp;

''Police had an input about the movement of three Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists. A quick reaction team (QRT) of police was following the three terrorists, who were travelling in a red colour vehicle. They were engaged in a brief shoot-out at Soura in which a police soldier sustained injury and later succumbed. The terrorist trio were headed by Basit, who had taken over LeT’s command after Mehran’s killing. Two others have also been identified. They will be tracked soon,” said Vijay Kumar, IG Kashmir.

The body of the soldier was taken by the family for the final rites.

He also said that the latest attacks may be the result of a surge in extremism following the Taliban's takeover of Afghanistan.&nbsp;

J&K: Security forces detain over 700 ‘terrorist sympathisers’ after civilian killings

A Pakistani terrorist linked to the banned terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) who was engaged in the Pulwama attack was shot and killed in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama area on Saturday, according to a senior police official.

He was involved in organising the 2019 Pulwama attack, according to Inspector General of Kashmir Police Vijay Kumar, in which at least 40 CRPF jawans were martyred.

The terrorist was a relative of Maulana Masood Azhar, the founder of Jaish-e-Mohammed.

Abu Saifullah, also known as Adnan, Ismail, and Lamboo, was slain together with another terrorist at Hangalmarg in the Pulwama district's Tral.

He has been active in the valley since 2017.

"Many accounts are operated from not only Pakistan but other countries as well which try to propagate things to disturb the peace. Through different methods, we trace them. There was a handle who posted something which could've created communal tension, we took help from platforms and deleted them," says Tahir Ashraf, in charge Cyber police, Kashmir. Tahir's men are IT experts who keep a close eye on social media. On a usual day, there are cases regarding fake social identity and financial frauds. So far, 70 complaints of financial frauds, multiple online harassments and cyberbullying cases have been resolved. "Cyber policing is also one reason that violence near encounter sites have been down. We keep an eye on handles and websites which could result in law and order problem or someone who appreciates someone for joining terrorism. I think this has resulted in the reduction of violence," Tahir says. This is also the address which deals with countering terrorism and tracking them down to bring peace. The 3,064-page chargesheet, filed under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and various sections of the Indian Penal Code against Singh and five others, gave a graphical description of the police officer's involvement in providing shelter to the terrorists of the banned group.

The chargesheet said he had saved the number of his contact at the Pakistan High Commission as 'Pak Bhai' (Pakistani brother).

The contact had been giving him various tasks which included deployment of forces and arrival of VIPs in the Kashmir valley.

After having committed himself to Hizbul Mujahideen, Singh was asked to establish a contact in the Ministry of External Affairs by his Pakistani handler so that espionage activities could be carried out there.

However, Singh was unable to make any headway into the nefarious plan of the Pakistani embassy officials, the NIA officials said.

The chargesheet, filed in the first week of July, has accused Singh and others of allegedly waging "war against India" with the help of Pakistan-based terrorists and members of the country's high commission in Delhi.

Besides Singh, others named in the chargesheet are self-styled commander of the Hizbul Mujahideen terror group Syed Naveed Mushtaq alias Naveed Babu, his brother Syed Irfan Ahmad as well as the group's alleged overground worker Irfan Shafi Mir, alleged accomplice Rafi Ahmad Rather and businessman Tanveer Ahmad Wani, former president of the Line of Control Traders Association.

Detailing the conspiracy, the NIA alleged that Deputy Superintendent of Police Singh, who is in a jail here, was "in touch with certain officials of Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi through secure social media platforms.

Investigation revealed that he was being groomed by Pakistani officials for obtaining sensitive information.

J&K police DySP Devender Singh was tasked by Pakistan to establish 'contact' in MEA: NIA chargesheet

At least 8 terrorists have been killed in two encounters in Shopian and Pampore in Jammu and Kashmir since Thursday.

"I must specifically mention the one in which we neutralised three terrorists (in Pampore's Meej) which was next to the mosque," GOC 15 Corps Lt Gen Baggavalli Somashekar Raju, said.

"Extreme restraint was exercised by the security forces to ensure that no damage was caused to the structure," the official added.

Five terrorists were killed in Shopian and three in Pampore. Kashmir Police said during the Pampore encounter, there was no firing, and IED was not used with only tear smoke shells used in order to maintain the sanctity of the mosque as two terrorists hiding in the mosque were neutralized.

According to reports, over two dozen terrorists have been killed by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir in the last two weeks by security forces.

8 terrorists killed in Shopian, Pampore in J&K

A 19-year-old Lashkar-e-Taiba was arrested from Jammu and Kashmir's Baramullah district on Tuesday.

According to a report, the terrorist, identified as Sajid Faroo Das, was arrested from Angergam village during a search operation.

This is the second LeT terrorist who was arrested from Kashmir this month. Earlier this month, Jammu and Kashmir police arrested Nisar Dar who had earlier escaped from an encounter in Kullan village of Ganderbal district.

Director-General of Police (DGP), Jammu and Kashmir, Dilbag Singh had on Monday said that the Bangladesh visits of Davinder Singh, who was arrested with Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists a few days back, are being investigated.

The NIA has registered a case and begun investigations in connection with the arrest of Davinder Singh after it was instructed by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on January 16.
