In fact, the 22-year-old believed RCB will be the last team to pick him at the auction.</p>

<p>However, he was in for a surprise as RCB competed with the Royals for his signature and managed to get him at the auction. Lomror revealed he had never gone for trials at RCB or spoken with anyone from the team management in the past but is happy to get a chance to work with the likes of Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell and Dinesh Karthik who are all part of the franchise.</p>

<p>"Before auction, I thought RCB is the last team which is going to pick me. Surprisingly, they bought me. I had never spoken to anyone from the management. &nbsp;I never went to trials for RCB and neither, I had never talked to any management guy (from RCB) over a phone call or in person. <p>"I am really happy that I am a part of RCB this time around. Obviously, there’s a lot to learn from not just Maxi but also from the likes of Virat Kohli and Dinesh Karthik, who are really experienced players and two of the greats in our country. So, I am looking forward to learn a lot from them. Specially Maxi, he’s a great finisher in World cricket. So, I would like to learn a lot from him," he added.</p>

<p>While the likes of Du Plessis and Maxwell are favourites to take over as the new captain of RCB, the franchise is yet to take the final call on their next skipper. RCB have finished in the playoffs for the past two consecutive seasons but are yet to lift their maiden IPL trophy.</p>

While some big players attained whopping deals and were sold at a high price, few uncapped players or relatively inexperienced campaigners also fetched big fat cheques.</p>

<p>Nonetheless, some T20 stars didn't draw a single bid and went unsold. The likes of Suresh Raina, Shakib Al Hasan, Steve Smith, Adil Rashid, etc. went unsold. Raina's name surprised many as he is known as Mr. IPL and has been a vital cog of the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) since the tournament's inception in 2008, barring the two seasons in between when the Yellow Army was serving a suspension on account of spot-fixing scandal (in 2016 and 2017).</p>

Having a base price of INR 20 million (INR 2 crore) also didn't help the swashbuckling left-hander as he went unsold. CSK didn't retain him initially and also didn't bid for him, along with the other nine franchises.</p>

<p>As Raina went unsold, his big revelation on his IPL future, in 2021, is doing the rounds. In an interview with News 24 Sports, Raina had stated, “If Dhoni bhaai doesn’t play next season, I too won’t play. We’ve been playing since 2008 (for CSK)… if we win this year then I’ll convince him to play next year too…“I’ll try my best. If he will not play, then I don’t think I will play for any IPL team."</p>

<p>The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction went quite well for the Delhi based franchise as they look at a future beyond the likes of Shreyas Iyer and Shikhar Dhawan.&nbsp;</p>

<p>For Delhi Capitals (DC), Iyer and Dhawan were key players in the past seasons inspiring the team to enter the final in IPL 2020. However, the trophy has eluded the team so far.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Aiming to win their maiden trophy, DC have&nbsp;done a massive reshuffling to the existing team as they have added some quality players to build a core team around the retained cricketers.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Ahead of the IPL mega auction, the JSW and GMR co-owned franchise had retained Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel, Prithvi Shaw and Anrich Nortje.&nbsp;</p>

<p>During the two-day auction, DC has made some massive buys. One of the highlight purchases was Australian swashbuckling batter David Warner as prodigal son returns to Delhi Capitals.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Warner, who won the man of the series award at the T20 World Cup in 2021, was part of the Delhi team when he had started his IPL career with Delhi Daredevils in 2008.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>He later moved to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and emerged as an integral part of the team, however, he was last year dropped and was stripped of the captaincy.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Another top buy for DC is Australian player Mitchell Marsh, who was also a key player during Australia's 2021 T20 World Cup-winning run. Warner and Marsh were acquired for Rs 6.25 crore and 6.50 crore respectively.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Meanwhile, India's Shardul Thakur became the franchise's most expensive buy at the auction for Rs 10.75 crore.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>DC also acquired the services of the Indian left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav and Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman for Rs 2 crore each.&nbsp;</p>

<p>They also bought domestic talents: Ashwin Hebbar (Rs 20 lakh), Sarfaraz Khan (Rs 20 lakh) Kamlesh Nagarkoti (1.10 crore) and KS Bharat (2 crore).&nbsp;</p>

<p>In the pace department, DC have Khaleel Ahmed, Chetan Sakariya, Lungi Ngidi.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Delhi Capitals have also bought U-19 World Cup-winning skipper Yash Dhull for&nbsp;Rs 50 lakhs.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

The Bengaluru camp bought Faf du Plessis, former Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) opener, for INR 70 million (INR 7 crore) whereas spent a huge sum for re-signing Harshal Patel and Sri Lanka's Wanindu Hasaranga.
