Having a base price of INR 20 million (INR 2 crore) also didn't help the swashbuckling left-hander as he went unsold. CSK didn't retain him initially and also didn't bid for him, along with the other nine franchises.

As Raina went unsold, his big revelation on his IPL future, in 2021, is doing the rounds. In an interview with News 24 Sports, Raina had stated, “If Dhoni bhaai doesn’t play next season, I too won’t play. We’ve been playing since 2008 (for CSK)… if we win this year then I’ll convince him to play next year too…“I’ll try my best. If he will not play, then I don’t think I will play for any IPL team."

Chopra, a cricketer-turned commentator also lauded Dhoni for his terrific leadership qualities and explained how the CSK skipper commands a lot of respect among the players. Chopra said CSK players are ready to go through the walls for their captain and he has never heard any player say that they didn't like playing for the Dhoni-led side in the IPL.

“Many people say that CSK is Dad’s Army or Grand Dad’s Army, but they are not. CSK follows a philosophy. The philosophy is that they always try to bring their players back. CSK is a franchise where I have never heard a player saying that they did not like playing. Players go through walls for MS Dhoni and the franchise. They tried to go for all their players in the auction," Chopra said in a video on his YouTube channel.

Apart from Rayudu, Uthappa and Bravo, CSK also managed to get back Indian pacer Deepak Chahar, who they went all out for and spent a whopping Rs 14 crore (INR 140 million) to secure his services once again. However, the franchise did miss out on the likes of Faf du Plessis, Shardul Thakur and Josh Hazlewood among others.

While Chopra believes CSK have managed to rope in a strong squad with a great mix of experience and youth, he feels death bowling will be their biggest concern heading into the new season. However, Chopra insisted Dhoni will not be losing sleep over the death bowling concerns in the squad.

“If you look through a lens, you may find that death bowling may be a concern. They didn’t get Josh Hazlewood; he used to bowl at the death. Bravo is not the same as before. Chahar and Milne are your new-ball bowlers. That’s the only potential weakness I can see. But it won’t worry MS Dhoni at all. He’s not going to lose his sleep over this," said Chopra.

As the bidding crossed the Rs 5 crore (INR 50 million) mark, Mumbai Indians were the first to raise the bid to Rs 5.25 crore (INR 52.5 million). Sharma then asked Delhi Capitals if they were willing to up their bid to Rs 5.50 crore (INR 55 million). DC co-owner Kiran Kumar Grandhi were seen hesitatingly raising the paddle to up the bid while also having a discussion with the other members in the DC panel.

While the bid should have been raised to Rs 5.50 crore (INR 55 million), Sharma mistakenly announced that DC had the highest bid for the player at the previous amount of Rs 5.25 crore (INR 52.5 million). Khaleel was eventually sold to DC for the same amount, however, it was Mumbai Indians who had first bid that amount for the Indian pacer.

India white-ball skipper Rohit Sharma on Tuesday said that the Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction is over and the focus of everyone on his side should be on the colour 'blue'&nbsp;and the mission should be to do best for the country.

India and West Indies will lock horns in three T20Is beginning Wednesday and the focus will be on the brand of cricket India play, having witnessed disappointment in T20 World Cup 2021.

The Men in Blue also need to develop a core nucleus that will play for them in the T20 World Cup 2022, Australia.

"It was understood that guys will go through ups and downs, some emotional feeling within themselves on which team they will play for in the IPL. But that was done the day before yesterday, we had a great meeting with everyone and we asked them to focus on the colour blue for the next two weeks."

Rajasthan Royals (RR) made their first signing at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction in the form of Indian spinner R Ashwin on Saturday (February 12). Ashwin was roped in by the franchise for a sum of Rs 5 crore (INR 50 million) making the move one of the talking points of day 1 of the mega auction.

Ashwin, who has played for Chennai Super Kings, Rising Pune Supergiants, Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals so far in his IPL career, will be donning the RR jersey in the upcoming season. Soon after Ashwin was bought by RR, social media flooded with reactions as the off-spinner will now share the dressing room with England batter Jos Buttler in the IPL.

Ashwin had mankaded Buttler in IPL 2019 and it was believed the duo didn't share a great rapport between them after the infamous incident. However, both Ashwin and Buttler have welcomed the prospect of playing together from the upcoming IPL season.&nbsp;

The 19-year-old batter notched 229 runs in just four matches at a remarkable average of 76.33 in the recently-concluded marquee event.

Having acquired the DC Academy prodigy at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction, Delhi Capitals'&nbsp;Interim CEO Vinod Bisht said, "Yash has been a talent who has been spotted 4-5 years back since he was a small kid. At that time, in the earlier avatar of ours, we always wanted to develop the whole idea of doing grassroots cricket and build stories."

"This is an outcome of that effort of 5-6 years. When a 14-year-old young talent came up to us, and we supported him at that time, and then he goes on to become the captain of India U-19 team, and wins the World Cup, and is back into our fold."

Speaking to official broadcaster Star Sports, on Sunday (February 13), the former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Gambhir firstly shared his experience of building a squad from scratch. "I have been at the auction table before but never have a built a squad from scratch as there was always a core team around which we built the squad," he said.

Rajasthan Royals'&nbsp;Lead Owner Manoj Badale on Saturday confirmed that wicketkeeper Sanju Samson will be batting at number four for his side in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.

Badale's remarks came after RR bought Indian opener Devdutt Padikkal for Rs 7.75 crores in the ongoing IPL 2022, mega auction in Bengaluru on Saturday.

"It's been a pretty dramatic morning. It's been a busy morning. We're pretty pleased with where we're at. We've got a gun batting lineup now. We like Devdutt Padikkal because he plays spin particularly well and fills that number three slot, with Sanju batting four this year. Shimron Hetmyer is a player we've admired for many, many years, and he has that real ability to play pace and spin at the back of the innings," said Manoj Badale as per an official release.
