Former England captain Michael Vaughan has urged the Indian cricket team to follow England's template for success in white-ball cricket. Vaughan lauded England for their winning mentality after their memorable T22 World Cup 2022 triumph and said they deserved to win for having the best side in the competition.

A superb bowling effort followed by Ben Stokes' unbeaten half-century helped England pull off a comprehensive victory in the final against Pakistan at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Sunday. The victory saw England become the first team to hold the ODI and T20I World Cup trophies at the same time.

With the incredible feat, the reigning ODI and T20I world champions have proved they are the best white-ball team in the world at present. Lauding them for their mentality, Vaughan pointed out how England were in trouble in both the 2019 ODI World Cup and the T20 World Cup this year after losing games early in the tournament but managed to bounce back strongly and go all the way.

"England should be winning World Cups because they have the best squad but we often see the best teams not living up to their billing. In the 2019 World Cup final, England had the rub of the green and they did this time as well. But they deserve that luck because they have done things right for so long by committing to a style," Vaughan wrote in his&nbsp;column for the Telegraph.

"England never panic. In 2019 they lost games early in the tournament to Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Here they lost to Ireland. It could have been all over both times. But they have this mentality of when it matters they know how to win. They have good game players," he added.

Vaughan further urged India to follow England's template to earn success in white-ball cricket. The former England captain said if he was in charge of Indian cricket, he would sollow his pride and look at the English setup for inspiration.

Swallow your pride: Michael Vaughan urges India to follow England's template for success in white-ball cricket

India's run in the T20 World Cup 2022 edition remains a big talking point. After the end of the tournament in Australia, with England beating Pakistan in the final, former cricketers and experts of the game continue to dwell on Rohit Sharma-led Men in Blue's campaign Down Under.&nbsp;

India beat Pakistan, Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, Netherlands but lost to South Africa (in a low-scoring thriller) and England in a one-sided semi-final contest in Adelaide. Atul Wassan, India's ex-pacer, has now joined the bandwagon and opined on Rohit's captaincy as well as on calls taken by the Indian team management. Further, he opined that India will gain nothing from retaining Rohit as the T20I captain.&nbsp;

"We could see two level of cricketers. At least something should have happened. You can't even find a fault. I feel that you can't blame the captaincy. Afterall, it was the team management that was taking all decisions. Rohit Sharma did not take a single call. He only decided where to hide on the field," former Indian cricketer Atul Wassan told ABP News.

On Rohit's future as captain in the shortest format, with the next T20 WC in 2024, Wassan said, ""Yes, I feel so (that Rohit's time as India's T20 captain is over). You have two options in front of you - Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant. I am still besides myself, can't believe what happened. I felt as if India batted in Adelaide and England in Sharjah."

Amid criticism on Rohit, calls for making Hardik Pandya the new T20I captain is growing with each passing day. Hardik will lead a second-stringed Indian T20I team in the forthcoming New Zealand tour.

'Rohit only decided where to hide...': Former pacer on Hitman's captaincy after India's T20 WC campaign

India's run in the T20 World Cup 2022 edition ended with a heavy defeat at the hands of eventual winners England in the semi-finals. Being asked to bat first, at the Adelaide Oval, Adelaide, Rohit Sharma-led India rode on half-centuries from Virat Kohli (40-ball 50) and Hardik Pandya (33-ball 63) to post an at-par total; 168 for 6. Nonetheless, it wasn't enough as England openers Jos Buttler (40-ball 80) and Alex Hales (46-ball 87 not out) chased down the target with an unbeaten 170-run opening stand with four overs to spare.

With this performance, India's T20 WC dreams were shattered and many have raised fingers at the team selection, captaincy and India's playing template in the shortest format. As wholesome changes are expected going ahead, former Indian chief selector and 1983 ODI World Cup-winning member Kris Srikkanth has named his choice on who should lead India in T20Is in&nbsp;the 2024 T20 World Cup, in West Indies and USA.

"See if I was the chairman of the selection committee, I would say that Hardik Pandya should be the captain of the 2024 World Cup, straight away, I had put it that way – number one," the former chief selector said in an interaction with Star Sports.

"And start rebuilding a side right from today, that is from the New Zealand series which is going to happen in a weeks' time. You start from today, the preparation for the World Cup, you need to understand, starts 2 years in advance. So, you do whatever you want to do, the trial and error policy, do whatever you want, try it for one year, then you form a team and by 2023 make sure this is going to be at the level that is going to play the World Cup," the former opener asserted.

Srikkanth also stressed the fact&nbsp;that India desperately need more fast bowling all-rounders. "You need more fast-ball all-rounders. Let’s see, 1983 World Cup, 2011 World Cup, 2007 T20 World Cup, why did we win? We had many fast-ball all-rounders and semi all-rounders. So, to identify these guys - guys like (Deepak) Hooda, like Hooda, there are going to be so many more Hoodas," he added.

Hardik-led India will now take on hosts New Zealand in three T20Is, starting on November 18, with many regulars being rested. Nonetheless, many have named Hardik as the next T20I captain and few good performances as a leader can see him attain the top post. At present, KL Rahul is Rohit's deputy across formats.&nbsp;

Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul or Rishabh Pant? Former chief selector names India's captain for 2024 T20 World Cup

Rohit Sharma-led India had a disappointing end to the T20 World Cup 2022 campaign. The 2007 winners topped their group to reach the last four round but were demolished by eventual champions England by ten wickets in the semi-finals to return home. Thus, the senior men's team's wait for an ICC title continues since 2013. After their dismal performance in the semi-final, many former cricketers and experts of the game have heavily criticised Team India and their style of play and called for the inclusion of young faces in the T20I set up.&nbsp;

Many expect Hardik Pandya to succeed Rohit as the T20I captain, who will also lead a second-stringed side in the forthcoming three T20Is versus hosts New Zealand, whereas some senior players are expected to take a call on their future in the shortest format. Amid all this, former English spinner Monty Panesar has called for the likes of Rohit, R Ashwin and Dinesh Karthik to retire.

"India disappointed everyone (with the way they lost in the semi-final), and I think there are some retirements coming up," Panesar told Times of India. "Let's be honest. India didn't put up a fight in the semis. It was a completely one-sided affair. Indian bowling looked clueless in front of Buttler and Hales. You are playing the semis and you need to give a solid fight; 168 is not a small score," he pointed out.

Panesar, who troubled the Indians with his spin bowling in Alastair Cook-led England's famous Test series win versus hosts India in 2012-13, further added, "Rohit, Dinesh Karthik and R Ashwin are the top names who could say goodbye to T20I cricket. The team management will surely have a meeting with these guys and will ask them about their plans... It is time these players make way for young players."

"Virat is in great form. He is the fittest among all the Indian players. Age is just a number for Virat considering his super fitness. You may see him in the 2024 T20 World Cup. I&nbsp;am not seeing Rohit being part of that tournament, DK and Ashwin too (may not be there). There could be more players (considering T20I retirement), but these three, I think, will leave T20Is and focus on Tests and ODIs," Panesar concluded.

The likes of Rohit, Ashwin and DK are above 35 years of age. Given the three didn't have a great run in the just-concluded T20 WC, the trio are expected to be sidelined from the format or they can consider retirement in order to focus on other formats.&nbsp;

But who would have thought his simple and plain tweets will also go viral? Despite India's knockout-stage exit, Suryakumar Yadav emerged as one of those players who proved their mettle. In the six matches he played in the tournament, Yadav scored a total of 239 runs at a strike rate of 189.68. Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar lauded the England batters for their terrific performance in the semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2022 against India but warned them not to expect anything similar against Pakistan in the final. England and Pakistan are currently locking horns in a blockbuster final at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) with the T20 World Cup trophy on the line.

England demolished India in the second semi-final where they chased down the target of 169 runs without losing a wicket to hand Rohit Sharma &amp; Co. a devastating ten-wicket defeat. Openers Jos Buttler and Alex Hales went all guns blazing at the top as they slammed half-centuries apiece to stay unbeaten and take England home.

It was a stunning batting performance from England as they booked a spot in the final against Pakistan. While Buttler &amp; Co. will be hoping to replicate their semi-final performance in the summit clash, Akhtar has urged them to be wary of Pakistan's quality pace attack.

Pakistan's fast bowlers have played an instrumental role in their journey to the final in the T20 World Cup. They have the best economy rate among all teams in the tournament and have managed to be among the wickets to help Pakistan bounce back from their sluggish start in the competition.

Pakistan bowlers are not like Indians, England won't get a walkover: Shoaib Akhtar on T20 World Cup final

Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar criticised Indian skipper Rohit Sharma after his team's disappointing exit from T20 World Cup 2022. India suffered a humiliating 10-wicket defeat against England in the second semi-final to crash out of the tournament on Thursday (November 10).

Akhtar said Rohit looked a bit depressed as captain and his body language was quite off during the tournament. The Indian skipper struggled with the bat throughout the tournament and was not able to deliver at the top. He managed to score only 115 runs in six matches in what was a forgetful campaign for the Indian captain.

Akhtar advised Rohit, who missed a number of series in the build-up to the T20 World Cup, to spend more time with his team stating that captaincy is not an easy job. He also questioned whether Rohit was ready to take up captaincy when Kohli stepped down last year.

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly is regarded as one of the finest to have led the country. He played with some of the greats of the game and managed to get the best out of the youngsters in the team to help India attain great success both at home and overseas.

While he nurtured some of the future superstars of Indian cricket during his captaincy stint, he also managed the seniors well. Ganguly was recently asked about his experience of opening with the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag, two of India's best openers of all time.

While he called Tendulkar sane, Ganguly said Sehwag was insane as a batter. The former India captain picked Tendulkar over Sehwag as the batter he enjoyed opening with the most and admitted batting with the Master Blaster helped him lift his own game.

"Sachin was the most sane one and Sehwag was insane. So it is Sachin. He actually also made me a better player. Sachin actually got me lift my game,"&nbsp;said Ganguly speaking at&nbsp;&nbsp;CREDAI's annual conference.

The former India captain then went on to recall an interesting anecdote involving Tendulkar to explain why he was a special cricketer. Ganguly revealed Tendulkar was once hit on his ribs and suffered a double fracture while batting but didn't make a fuss about it and continued scoring runs despite being in immense pain.

"Sachin was special and I have seen him up close. I have seen him hit in the rib cage. He did not make a noise, and got runs. The next morning, he had a double fracture in his ribs. I heard a sound and I went and asked him if he was okay. He said he was fine. The next morning, he had fractures. He was special,"&nbsp;Ganguly recalled.

One of the greatest batters of all time, Tendulkar still holds the record for most runs and most centuries in international cricket. Ganguly said playing with Tendulkar helped him lift his game.

"Older he became, the better he became. I found Murali the hardest when he was older,"&nbsp;said the former India skipper, who recently stepped down as the president of the BCCI.

India had another terrible end to their campaign in another&nbsp;men's ICC event with a humiliating ten-wicket loss to England in the second semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2022 edition. On Thursday (November 10), Rohit Sharma &amp; Co. locked horns with Jos Buttler-led England, at the Adelaide Oval, Adelaide, and were asked to bat first.

Riding on half-centuries from Virat Kohli (40-ball 50) and Hardik Pandya's scintillating 33-ball 63 to post 168 for 6. Their timid approach, along with English bowlers bowling the right lengths, led to India posting below 185-190. In reply, Buttler's 80* and Alex Hales' 47-ball 86 not out led the 2010 winners to the final, where they face Pakistan at the MCG, Melbourne on Sunday (November 13).

Following this defeat, India remain trophyless in big-ticket events since 2013. Since then, the senior men's team have lost four semis and two finals. Their last ICC title came under MS Dhoni, under whom India won all three mega titles. After the loss, former Indian opener recalled Dhoni's achievements and said while speaking at Star Sports, "Someone will come and probably score more double 100s than Rohit Sharma and more 100s than Virat Kohli, but I don't think any Indian captain would be able to achieve three ICC trophies."

Dhoni not only managed 17,266 runs, accounted for 824 dismissals behind the stumps but also led India to some memorable wins during his captaincy tenure.

India started their campaign with a narrow win over arch-rivals, beat the Netherlands and Zimbabwe convincingly, gave a tough fight before losing to South Africa and were challenged by Bangladesh before eemerging on top against them. They topped their group, with four wins, but were crushed by the Three Lions in the semi-finals.

With this, India's wait for an ICC title continues since 2013. They will now tour to New Zealand for a white-ball series.

'Don't think any Indian captain...': Gautam Gambhir recalls MS Dhoni's laurels after India's T20 WC exit

Rohit Sharma-led India lost to England by 10&nbsp;wickets in the second semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2022 edition on Thursday (November 10). Being asked to bat first, at the Adelaide Oval, Adelaide, India managed a par score of 168 for 6 but Jos Butler's 80 not out and Alex Hales' 86* propelled the Three Lions to the tournament final, where they face Pakistan at the MCG, Melbourne on Sunday (November 13).

With another heartbreaking result in an ICC event, the senior men's team's wait for a mega title continues since 2013. Post the defeat, many former cricketers have reacted to the T20 WC campaign and opined on the road ahead. Former Indian opener-turned-commentator Virender Sehwag has slammed the senior players and called for the inclusion of young faces who can play fearless cricket.

Sehwag pointed out that senior players are given&nbsp;rest during bilateral series,&nbsp;allowing&nbsp; youngsters to feature in the XI, however, the seniors pip the young guns -- irrespective of their performances in limited opportunities -- and to play the ICC events, where India have been without a title since 2013.

Sehwag said on Cricbuzz, "You are winning the bilateral series at home, but you need to see how many of your top players are playing there. They usually take a break, and new players get in who also taste victory in bilateral series. So, if they are winning there, then why can’t they be tried here (in the World Cup)."

"You never know. There are players who play the kind of fearless cricket we're talking about. Be it Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson, Prithvi Shaw, or Ruturaj Gaikwad. All of them are international players and score runs. As the seniors have been rested, several youngsters are set to tour New Zealand; what reward will they receive if they win in New Zealand?," he asked.

"So, the pressure has to be there on seniors. They should be told that there are boys who are scoring well. And if the seniors don’t perform well, they might be told, ‘thank you, very much’ by the board," Sehwag further added.

Sehwag has a genuine point given India have had all the experience in past ICC events and still haven't won a mega title over the years. Many have called for a change in guard with Hardik Pandya to be named the T20I captain and a new team can revolve around him.

It remains to be seen in which direction is Team India headed post the T20 WC. For now, Hardik is set to lead India in the forthcoming T20I series in the New Zealand tour, from November 18, whereas Shikhar Dhawan will take charge of the ODI side versus the Kiwis.

Rohit, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, etc. will be back during the Bangladesh tour, in December 2022, featuring two Tests and three ODIs.

T20 World Cup: Ramiz Raja's 'billion-dollar industry team' remark makes heads turn after India's exit

After the end of India's T20 World Cup, where they once again faltered in the semi-finals, head coach Rahul Dravid has been rested for the upcoming tour of New Zealand. In his absence, VVS Laxman will take don the coach's hat&nbsp;for the white-ball tour of NZ.

In addition, a&nbsp;PTI report has claimed that the duo of Hrishikesh Kanitkar and Sairaj Bahutule will join the New Zealand-bound squad, taking&nbsp;up the roles of batting and bowling coach respectively. Earlier, Laxman -- who succeeded Dravid as the NCA chief in December 2021 --&nbsp;served as the interim head coach in Dravid's absence during a second-stringed India's&nbsp;tour of Ireland (comprising two T20Is), three ODIs in Zimbabwe (mid-August) and last month's three-match 50-over series versus South Africa at home.&nbsp;Moreover, India's U-19 team had also won the 2022 ODI World Cup under Laxman's guidance.

Thus, Laxman is all set to take over the head coach's position&nbsp;in the absence of his former teammate Dravid. The latter has had a busy few months and has been given some break post India's ten-wicket loss to England in the second semi-final of the ongoing T20 WC in Australia.&nbsp;

Dravid is expected to return for India's tour of Bangladesh, in December, comprising two Tests and three ODIs.

VVS Laxman to don head coach's hat during India's tour of NZ, Rahul Dravid rested after T20 WC debacle

Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar believes some of the players from India's current T20I setup might soon take a call on their future after the team's exit from the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022. India crashed out of the tournament on Thursday after a shattering ten-wicket defeat against England in the second semi-final at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide.

England openers Jos Buttler and Alex Hales batted India out of the contest as they slammed half-centuries apiece to help their team cruise to the 169-run target with four overs to spare. It was a woeful performance from the Indian bowlers, who were taken to the cleaners by the destructive duo, failing to pick up even a single wicket.

Speaking after India's shambolic defeat, former captain Gavaskar said he expects certain changes in the T20I squad going forward and backed Hardik Pandya to take over as the new captain in the shortest format. The India legend also feels some of the players in their mid-30s will now be considering their future in the format.

"Having won the Indian Premier League on his first assignment as the captain, they would have marked Hardik Pandya out as the next captain. There are several players in their mid-30s who will be reconsidering their position in the Indian T20I team," Gavaskar said on Star Sports.

India head coach Rahul Dravid was questioned about the futures of the likes of captain Rohit Sharma (35), Virat Kohli (34), R Ashwin (36) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (32) during the post-match press conference following India's exit from the T20 World Cup. Responding to the reporter, Dravid said it was not the right time to talk about the future of the senior players.

There will be some retirements: Sunil Gavaskar after India's exit from T20 World Cup 2022

England thrashed India by 10 wickets in Adelaide in the second semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2022 on Thursday to secure a spot in the final of the tournament. Jos Butler and Alex Hales played destructive knocks to help England chase down the target of 169 runs with as many as four overs to spare and earn a comprehensive victory.

Butler's men outclassed India across all three departments as they bowled well and produced a clinical performance with the bat to send Rohit Sharma &amp; Co. packing. India got off to a shaky start batting first as they lost opener KL Rahul (5) cheaply while Rohit and Virat Kohli struggled to up the ante.

Rohit could only manage 27 off 28 balls while Kohli scored 50 off 40 balls. It was Hardik Pandya's sensational 33-ball 63 which helped the Men in Blue finish strongly with a fighting total of 168 runs on the board. The bowlers, however, failed to turn up in the all-important clash as India remained wicket-less during England's run-chase at the Adelaide Oval.

Hales and Butler posted a record stand of unbeaten 170 to steamroll India and power England into the final where they will lock horns with Pakistan. Attending&nbsp;the post-match presser after India's heartbreaking loss, head coach Rahul Dravid was asked some tough questions by the reporters, including one on the future of the likes of Rohit and Kohli in T20Is.

"The team is going to NZ under Hardik. At this point, a cycle has ended the team. The next is after two years. You said about reflection, so what exactly would be the future of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ashwin, and Bhuvneshwar's future in terms of T20 cricket," the reporter asked the India head coach during the press conference.

"It's too early to talk about it, just after a semi-final game... These guys have been terrific performers for us. We've got a couple of years to reflect on it. These are some really quality players here. Not the right time to talk about or think about this stuff now. We'll have enough time, enough matches as we go on ahead and try to prepare for the next World Cup," Dravid responded.

While Kohli performed exceptionally well for India with the bat, amassing 296 runs in six matches at a stunning average of 98.67 and a strike rate of over 136, the likes of Rohit, Ashwin, and Bhuvneshwar failed to impress. Rohit struggled for consistency with a solitary half-century in the tournament while Ashwin and Bhuvneshwar picked up 4 and 6 wickets respectively.

India will be looking at fresh changes in the T20I squad going forward with several senior players likely to make way for youngsters. While Rohit and Kohli are expected to continue going strong in the shortest format, the likes of Ashwin and Bhuvneshwar might face the axe from the shortest format.

Rahul Dravid responds to question on Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma's future in T20Is after India's T20 WC exit

On Thursday (November 10), Team India faced England in the second semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2022 edition. While many had already pinned their hopes on an India-Pakistan final, after the latter entered the summit clash with a win over New Zealand on Wednesday (November 09), Jos Butler &amp; Co. thrashed the Men in Blue by 10 wickets, chasing 169, at the Adelaide Oval, Adelaide. Thus, they have now&nbsp;set up a final clash with Babar Azam's led&nbsp; Pakistan.

Being asked to bat first, Rohit-led India managed a decent 168 for 6 riding on half-centuries from Virat Kohli (40-ball 50) and Hardik Pandya's 33-ball 63. In reply, it was a listless performance from the Indian bowlers as Jos Butler-Alex Hales' unbeaten 170-run opening stand buried the 2007 champions Down Under. Butler (49-ball 80*) and Hales' (46-ball 87 not out) smashed as many as 23 boundaries to take the Three Lions home with four overs to spare.

After India's defeat, the senior men's team's ICC-title drought continues since 2013. From 2014-2022, India have lost four semi-finals and&nbsp;three finals. On India's ICC knockouts' achilles' heel, captain Rohit said at the post-match presentation, "Pretty disappointed how it turned up today. We batted well at the backend to get that score. We were not upto the mark with the ball, we couldn't turn up today. It's all about handling the pressure in knockout games. All these guys have played enough to understand that. These guys have played under pressure in IPL games, it's all about keeping calm. We were nervy to start with, but you got to give credit to their openers, they played really well."

On India's whole campaign, the Hitman opined, "When we won the first game, it showed a lot of character. The game against Bangladesh, it was a tricky one. I thought it was difficult defending 85 runs in 9 overs, but we held our nerve and executed our plans. Couldn't do that today, and when you don't execute your plans, you are in trouble."

India, thus, failed to return with the elusive title despite topping their group. They will now travel to New Zealand for a white-ball series.

It's all about keeping calm: Rohit Sharma on India's achilles' heel in ICC knockouts after England hammering

Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh slammed the Indian team management following the team's shattering ten-wicket defeat at the hands of England in the second semi-final of T20 World Cup 2022 on Thursday (November 10). India failed to defend a target of 169 runs as England booked a spot in the summit clash against Pakistan with a thumping win.

Defending a fighting total, Indian bowlers disappointed as they failed to pick up even a single wicket during England's run-chase. Openers Jos Buttler and Alex Hales ruthlessly punished the Indian bowling attack to post a record 170-run stand for the first wicket and take their team home.

Buttler and Hales went all out from the word go as they made the most of the Powerplay at the Adelaide Oval while denying India a breakthrough. There was no looking back after the&nbsp;good start as the duo took their team over the line comfortably to knock India out of the tournament.

Reacting to India's defeat, Harbhajan questioned India's selection and said he failed to understand why spinner Yuzvendra Chahal kept warming the bench throughout the tournament. Chahal was part of India's squad but didn't get a single game at the World Cup with R Ashwin getting preferred over him.&nbsp;

Harbhajan also advised India to learn from England's approach in T20Is and follow the same template to achieve success in the shortest format.

"It is hurting, more because that we did not fight at all,” Harbhajan told India Today in the Battle of Champions show," Harbhajan was quoted as saying by India Today.

"India batted like ODI in first 10-12 overs like they still had 40 more overs to play. India should learn this format from England. They played like champions. It is very disappointing to see India's approach throughout the tournament where they did not look like they would score more than 35 runs.

"I don't know what are the reasons that a champion bowler (Yuzvendra Chahal) is not in the team. He must have done something to someone that he is not getting a game. With his credentials, he should have been your first-choice spinner,"&nbsp;he added.

Chahal was India's first-choice spinner in T20Is in the lead-up to the T20 World Cup and was backed by the team management across bilateral series. He was expected to lead the spin attack in the tournament but was surprisingly benched for Ashwin, who offered a little extra with the bat in the lower order.

The lack of a wicket-taking spinner like Chahal in the middle overs cost India dearly in the semi-final against England as the bowlers looked clueless against Buttler and Hales, who went all guns blazing at the top. England will now face Pakistan in the all-important final on Sunday (November 13).

Yuzvendra Chahal must have done something to someone to not get a game in T20 World Cup: Harbhajan Singh

Virat Kohli continued his fine form with the willow as India locked horns with England in the all-important second semi-final of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022. Kohli notched up his fourth fifty in the tournament and achieved yet another elusive feat en route to his half-century.

Kohli scripted a historic feat in the game as he became the first batter in the world to complete 4,000 runs in T20Is. Kohli, who is the leading run-getter of all time in T20Is, needed 42 runs to achieve the feat. He went on to score 50 off 40 balls against England on Thursday to reach 4,000 runs in the shortest format.

Kohli now has 4,0008 runs to his name in 115 T20Is at a stunning average of 52.73 and a strike rate of 137.96. He has 37 fifties and a solitary hundred to his name in the shortest format and has been unstoppable for India so far in the ongoing T20 World Cup in Australia.

Kohli slammed four half-centuries in the tournament in just six innings and was dismissed only twice. Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif took a dig at the Indian cricket team after their 10-wicket loss against England in the second semi-final of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022 on Thursday (November 10). England outclassed India at the Adelaide Oval to set up a mouth-watering final clash against Pakistan.

It was a lop-sided contest as England dominated the proceedings during their run-chase after restricting India to 168 runs. Openers Jos Buttler and Alex Hales fired all cylinders as the duo played sensational knocks to take their team home without breaking a sweat.

Hales cracked an unbeaten 86 off 47 balls while Buttler slammed 80 not out off 49 balls to nail down the 169-run target without losing a wicket. The duo also shattered the record for the highest partnership in T20 World Cup history with their 170-run stand for the first wicket.

Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif takes a dig at Indian cricket team after defeat in T20 World Cup semi-final

England rode on some good bowling from Chris Woakes (1 for 24), Adil Rashid (1 for 20), and Chris Jordan's 3 for 43 to restrict India to 168 for 6 in 20 overs in the T20 World Cup 2022 semi-final, at the Adelaide Oval, Adelaide, on Thursday (November 10). It was&nbsp;expected to be a close contest but what followed was total mayhem as the 2010 winners rode on skipper Jos Buttler (49-ball 80*) and Alex Hales' (47-ball 86 not out) unbeaten 170-run opening stand to take their side to the tournament finale, where they face Pakistan.

Hales and Buttler timed everything from the middle of the bat as the Indian bowlers got no assistance from the surface. Hales was in a punishable mode from the word go and scored runs at all parts of the ground whereas Buttler joined the party and finished the proceedings with 24&nbsp;balls to spare. None of the Indian bowlers looked threatening at any point as the English openers struck as many as ten sixes and 13 fours in the run-chase.&nbsp;

Earlier, Rohit Sharma &amp; Co. were asked to bat first. KL Rahul departed cheaply for five before Rohit and Kohli stitched a 47-run second-wicket stand. While Kohli tried to up the ante, England tested the duo with Woakes and Rashid bowling some tidy overs. Rohit went back for an unimpressive 28-ball 27 before Kohli and Hardik Pandya joined together. Suryakumar Yadav, the in-form batter, played some lusty shots but lost his wicket for 14.&nbsp;

India scored 68 off the last five overs and 106 off the last ten, with Hardik doing the bulk of the scoring. He returned for a 33-ball 63 whereas Kohli made a 40-ball 50 but India's 168/6 just wasn't enough on the day.

T20 WC: Alex Hales, Jos Buttler bury India Down Under, England to meet Pakistan in final

Team India is set to take on England in the second semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2022 edition on Thursday (November 10) at the Adelaide Oval, Adelaide. After registering four wins in the Super 12 round, India topped Group 2 and entered the semi-finals though&nbsp;they had&nbsp;missed out on the semis berth in the last edition in 2021. Before their face-off versus Jos Butler-led Three Lions, former English captain Nasser Hussain talked about India's achilles heel in ICC knockouts.

Over the years, India have reached the knockouts in all ICC events -- barring 2021 T20 WC -- since 2014 but have failed to win the title in the last nine years. India's last mega title came in the 2013 Champions Trophy. In this regard, Hussain pointed out in his column for Daily Mail, "You have to say they have underperformed in world tournaments. At times they have played some timid cricket with the bat for the players they have and when working for Sky last summer their former coach Ravi Shastri said that is something they have to change."

<section>
Hussain further wrote, "Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul do play in a slightly old-fashioned way in the first few overs but that has suited India in this tournament because the ball has moved around at the start. India need to be more dynamic if they are going to win World Cups and that is where Suryakumar Yadav — or SKY as he is known — has been so important."

It is to be noted that India have not started well in any of their Super 12 games in the ongoing T20 WC. Openers Rohit and KL Rahul have started off on a slow note and the former has often got out trying to up the ante. The conditions have also favoured the bowlers but Indian openers will like to make a stronger start in the semi-final versus England.

One of India's best performers in the T20 WC has been Suryakumar Yadav, with 225 runs in five games at a strike rate of over 190 (193.97). Speaking on him and Virat Kohli (the leading run-getter with 245 runs with three fifties), Hussain said, "India's dynamism will come at three and four where Virat Kohli is still the master and now has a considerable apprentice in SKY. I don't think I have ever seen a better white-ball innings than the one Kohli played against Pakistan in the group stage at Melbourne. The way he paced his innings as well as some of the shots he played at the end — like hitting Haris Rauf straight back over his head for six — were remarkable. Any professional cricketer watching that on TV would have sat up and just said ‘wow!"

'Rohit, Rahul play in an old-fashioned way' - Hussain on where India lose the plot in ICC knockouts

Team India have entered the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2022 edition in Australia. They are now gearing up for their face-off versus 2010 winners England in the semis and will aim to get past Jos Buttler &amp; Co. to enter their third T20 WC final overall. While India have not had an easy ride reaching the last four, they have not had much respite off the field as well with continuous travel.&nbsp;

India started their campaign in Melbourne and then travelled to Sydney before playing their last three games in Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne, respectively. They are now set to take the field at the Adelaide Oval, Adelaide for the semis and amid the regular travel, skipper Rohit Sharma, head coach Rahul Dravid and former captain Virat Kohli's heartfelt gestures have now come out in the open. As per reports, the Indian team management have taken an important step to ensure the pacers get enough rest and recover in time amid the regular flight travels.

In this regard, Rohit, Dravid and Kohli have sacrificed their business class seats on flights during the T20 WC.&nbsp;“Before the tournament, we decided that since the pace bowlers clock the maximum mileage on field day in, day out, they need to stretch their legs,” a member of the support staff told Indian Express while explaining the unique move.&nbsp;As per the ICC norms&nbsp;for all 16 teams; each squad gets as many as four business-class seats during a flight. Needless to say, Dravid, Rohit and Kohli's act is generous enough for the pace department, featuring Arshdeep Singh, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Md Shami and all-rounder Hardik Pandya. So far, the quadret have impressed a lot with Arshdeep having ten scalps, Shami and Bhuvi with six and four wickets respectively whereas Hardik has also chipped in with regular breakthroughs (having eight scalps from five games).

T20 WC: Rohit, Dravid, Kohli have given up their business class seats for Indian pacers - Reports

India will lock horns with England in the all-important second semi-final of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022 on Thursday (November 10). The blockbuster clash will be staged at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide with a place in the final on the line. Ahead of the much-awaited encounter, captain Rohit Sharma's form is a huge concern for the Indian team.

Rohit has struggled to score runs in the ongoing tournament and has so far managed only 89 runs in five matches. Despite having an excellent pull shot at his disposal, Rohit has been far from effective against short balls and bouncers in Australia. He has been dismissed by bouncers thrice in five matches so far.

However, despite his poor form, England all-rounder Ben Stokes has said his team won't take the Indian skipper lightly in the upcoming semi-final between the two teams. Stokes called Rohit one of the best T20 batters in the world and said he should not be judged on the basis of previous matches.

"The likes of Rohit, they are world-class players. You can't take (assume) anything from what he has performed in the previous game because you have seen him do it many a time (in big games)," Stokes said in the pre-match presser on Tuesday.

"He is one of the best to play the game, especially in this format. We won't be taking him lightly at all," he added.

Rohit has so far managed just a solitary fifty in the ongoing T20 World Cup. His maiden half-century in the tournament came against Netherlands. While he has failed to fire on the top, India have not felt the repercussions as Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav have both been stellar with the bat.

Kohli and Surykaumar are currently the top two run-getters for India in the T20 World Cup this year with over 200 runs each. The duo has fired all cylinders and their contributions will be the key if India are to fancy their chances in the semi-final against England.

Stokes admitted England have not played their best cricket so far in the tournament but will hope to bring their A game against India.

The stage is set for the T20 World Cup 2022 semi-finals. While Pakistan will lock horns with New Zealand in the first semi-final, at the SCG, Sydney on Wednesday (November 09), India will take on England in the second semi-final on Thursday (November 10) at the Adelaide Oval, Adelaide. India and the Three Lions are set to lock horns for the first time in the Men's T20 WC since the 2012 edition and it is expected to go down to the wire.

Some big-ticket players will rub shoulders against each other such as Rohit Sharma, Jos Buttler, Virat Kohli, Ben Stokes, Hardik Pandya, Liam Livingstone, etc. Prior to the highly-awaited face-off, English all-rounder Stokes was all praise for in-form Kohli. The 31-year-old Stokes stated that he failed to understand why people had started to write off a player of Kohli's calibre during his struggle period, prior to the Asia Cup 2022 edition, and believes that it is improbable to do what Kohli has done with the bat across formats for years.

"Look at that form. How unbelievable it is. As you know, he had a not-so-loud couple of months and, for some reason, players like that will get written off. I’ve got no idea why. I think he’s earned the right to never be written off. You don’t produce the number and produce the innings that he does over all three formats," Stokes told reporters in Adelaide ahead of England's semi-final against Rohit-led Men in Blue.

“We as players and those who have played against him a lot, you never take anything he’s done in the game before into the game he’s got there. So just lay off a bit maybe," Stokes added.&nbsp;

Stokes also lauded another in-form batter from the Indian camp. Speaking about Suryakumar Yadav, he said, "Suryakumar obviously came in and set the world alight. He’s a fantastic player and plays some shots where you sort of are scratching your head sometimes."

Kohli is currently the leading run-getter in the T20 WC, with 245 runs in five games including three half-centuries under his belt. Meanwhile, SKY follows suit with 225 runs with equal number of fifties. India will hope for the star duo to come out all guns blazing versus the 2010 winners on Thursday evening.

England have been dealt a massive blow ahead of their semi-final clash against India in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022 as star batter Dawid Malan has suffered a groin injury. Malan is doubtful for the semi-final against Rohit Sharma &amp; Co. as his injury is a bad one, as per teammate Moeen Ali.

England pipped Australia on net run rate to make it to the semi-finals as the second-ranked team from Group 1. They defeated Afghanistan in their final Super 12 clash on Saturday to knock Australia out of the tournament and book a place in the top four.

England were one of the favourites to win the title heading into the tournament and will be hoping to live up to the tag in the semi-final against India. However, Malan's absence can prove to be a big jolt to their title aspirations. The former world no.1 T20 batter is a vital cog in their middle order.

Malan has so far scored only 56 runs in the tournament this year and has not looked in the best of form but he possesses the ability to change a game single-handedly on his day. He is likely to be replaced by Phil Salt if he fails to recover from his injury in time.

T20 World Cup 2022: England batter Dawid Malan doubtful for semi-final clash against India

India face a problem of plenty when it comes to deciding their playing XI as they gear up to lock horns with England in the semi-final of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022. India will take on the Jos Buttler-led side in an all-important clash at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday with a place in the final on the line.

With Dinesh Karthik failing to impress in the tournament so far, there remain serious doubts over his place in the playing XI against England. The veteran wicket-keeper batter, who has played as the team's designated finisher in the tournament, has managed only 14 runs in four matches so far.

Amid his poor run with the bat, Rishabh Pant was slotted into India's playing XI in their last Super 12 clash against Zimbabwe on Sunday. However, Pant too failed to fire and was dismissed cheaply for just three runs. With the debate over the wicket-keeper's slot heating up in the build-up to the semi-final, former India head coach Ravi Shastri has revealed his pick.

Shastri believes India should pick Pant in their playing XI against England as he is a left-hander and also brings an 'x-factor' in the team. Pant has the ability to take down any bowling attack on his day but he has not managed to showcase his hitting prowess in T20Is so far.

"Dinesh is a lovely team player. But when it comes to a game against England or New Zealand, just seeing their attack, I think you need a robust left-hander, who can turn it on and a match-winner and a left-hander," Shastri said on Star Sport, explaining why India should play Pant against England.

"He has done well against England. He recently won a match on his win against England, a one-day game. I would go with Pant, not just because he played here, but because of the X-factor angle, he can bring to the semi-final," he added.

The semi-final will be played in Adelaide where the pitch has significant bounce and the boundaries are a bit shorter compared to other stadiums in Australia. Shastri believes having Pant in the XI will be crucial for India in such conditions, against a bowling attack of the caliber of England.

"You are playing in Adelaide, short boundaries square, another reason why a left-hander should be there to disrupt the England attack. If you have too many right-handers, there is a sense of sameness to it. England have a nice attack, a varied attack of left-handers and right-handers.

"You need a left-hander in your team, who can be dangerous and win you a game in the back overs even if you have lost 3 or 4 wickets at the top," Shastri explained.

Rohit Sharma-led India stormed into the T20 World Cup 2022 semi-finals with a big win over Zimbabwe in their last league stage encounter. While India had already qualified for the semis prior to taking the field versus the African nation, following South Africa's shocking exit, they still had to beat Craig Ervine &amp; Co. and the one-time winners managed to do that in style. Batting first, India rode on Suryakumar Yadav's 25-ball 61 not out and KL Rahul's 51 to post a daunting 186 for 5. In reply, India dismissed the opposition for a modest 115 in 17.2 overs to win by 71 runs.

While R Ashwin was the pick of the bowlers, returning with 3 for 23, former Indian captain Kapil Dev remains unimpressed with the wily off-spinner's overall numbers in the ongoing T20 WC in Australia. Ahead of India's semi-final encounter versus England, he told ABP News, "Until now, Ashwin hasn't given me confidence. He picked up wickets today but it didn't look as if he got them. In fact,&nbsp;batsmen iss tarah out huye ki unhe khud bhi 1-2 wickets lete huye sharam aa rahi thi&nbsp;(Some of the batsmen got out in a way that Ashwin himself couldn't believe it). "It depends on the team management. If they have the confidence in Ashwin, it's good. He has played the entire tournament so he can adjust if need be. But if you want to surprise the opposition, they can always turn to the wrist-spinner (Chahal). Whoever wins the confidence of the management and captain, will play," Kapil concluded.

Ashwin has so far claimed six wickets in five games in the Super 12 round of the T20 WC Down Under. While he was expensive versus South Africa, he did create a chance before Virat Kohli dropped a sitter off his bowling, to give a lifeline to Aiden Markam. He has bowled decently in conditions not akin for spinners. Nonetheless, Indian fans will hope for him to play a bigger role in the knockouts and take India to their second T20 WC title.&nbsp;

India rode on Suryakumar Yadav's brilliance once again as Rohit Sharma-led Men in Blue thrashed Zimbabwe by 71 runs in their last league stage encounter at the T20 World Cup 2022 on Sunday (November 06). Batting first, India rode on KL Rahul's splendid 51 but were reduced to 101 for 4, after being 87 for 1, before SKY's brilliance (a 25-ball 61 not out) propelled the one-time winners to a daunting 186 for 5.

In reply, Craig Ervine-led Zimbabwe only managed a paltry 115 all-out in 17.2 overs as India stormed into the semi-finals with a big win under their belt, topping their group as well. After the match, Suryakumar Yadav earned his second Player-of-the-Match award in the Super 12 round and head coach Rahul Dravid heaped praise on him.

“If I look at Surya from a couple of years ago, just to see (now) how he takes care of his body and the amount of time he spends on his fitness. . . he’s just really earning the reward for a lot of the hard work that he’s put in on and off the field. Long may it continue. He has been absolutely phenomenal for us. He’s a joy to watch. It’s a pleasure to watch him bat when he’s in that kind of form. It’s like he puts on a show, every time,” Dravid said during a post-match conference.

SKY is the third-highest run-getter in the competition so far, amassing 225 runs at a whopping strike rate of 193.97, along with as many as three half-centuries. India will hope for him to keep going strong in the knockouts and help them end their 15-year-long T20 WC title drought. India face England in the second semi-final, at the Adelaide Oval, Adelaide, on Thursday (November 10).

Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar wants to see arch-rivals India and Pakistan take on each other in a blockbuster clash in the final of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022. Both India and Pakistan managed to qualify for the semi-finals of the tournament after South Africa's shock defeat against Netherlands on Sunday (November 06).

South Africa were favourites to qualify from Group 2 with five points from their first four games. However, a surprise defeat against Netherlands in their last game paved way for Pakistan to make it to the knockout stages. Babar Azam &amp; Co. defeated Bangladesh by five wickets on the final day of the Super 12 stage to finish in the second spot in Group 2 and make it to the next round.

While Pakistan will face New Zealand in the semi-finals, table-toppers India will go up against Jos Buttler-led England. Akhtar is hopeful of both India and Pakistan winning their respective semi-finals to ensure fans from both nations get treated to another mouth-watering clash between the arch-rivals with the trophy on the line.

"Hopefully, India and Pakistan don’t return home after the semi-finals. I want to watch an India-Pakistan final. The broadcasters and the ICC will have the most fun is this happens," Akhtar said in a video on his YouTube channel.

The legendary Pakistani pacer insisted it will be a 'big joke' if both India and Pakistan lose their semi-final matches. Akhtar believes Pakistan haven't played their best cricket in the tournament yet but feels they have a strong chance to beat New Zealand considering their past record against the Kiwis.

"We are hoping to meet India once again. All of you were saying that we’ve been eliminated. If both teams get knocked out in the semi-finals, it’ll become a big joke. Pakistan needs to win their semi-final. Now it depends on how India wants to play," said Akhtar.

"Pakistan are up against New Zealand, their track record is that they are usually scored of us. New Zealand’s record against Pakistan has not been good. They lose a lot against us. Pakistan hasn’t played the best cricket. Our openers are struggling with the bounce. Babar could’ve made some runs today but he’s been struggling," he added.

Pakistan will face New Zealand in the first semi-final at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on Wednesday (Nove,ber 09) before India take on England at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday (November 10).

Want to watch an India-Pakistan final, says Shoaib Akhtar as arch-rivals qualify for T20 World Cup semis

Former India opener Gautam Gambhir lauded Suryakumar Yadav after he produced another brilliant knock for the Indian team in the T20 World Cup 2022 on Sunday. Continuing his purple patch with the willow, Suryakumar scored a stunning unbeaten 61 off just 25 balls against Zimbabwe to help India earn a comprehensive four-wicket win and reclaim the top spot in Group 2.

Suryakumar has been enjoying a phenomenal run in the tournament so far and has been the best batter for the Indian team along with Virat Kohli. Known for his 360-degree hitting prowess, the Indian star breached the 200-run mark in the T20 World Cup on Sunday with his cracking 61 which was laced with six fours and four sixes.

He has so far scored half-centuries against Netherlands, South Africa, and Zimbabwe in the tournament and currently has 225 runs to his name in five matches at an average of 75. Hailing him as a rare commodity for Team India, Gambhir said Suryakumar is already the Player of the Tournament for him in the T20 World Cup 2022.

"We have spoken a lot about him. Players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and KL Rahul are very orthodox. Suryakumar is different. India haven’t had these kinds of players, especially batting at No.4," Gambhir said on Star Sports.

"He has scored above 200 runs with three half-centuries. For me, he is the Player of the Tournament already for the kind of impact he has had even if India do not go on to win the World Cup,"&nbsp;he added.
