<p>The England all-rounder has been troubled by a consistent knee issue that has limited his actions in recent times. Stokes only played Test cricket after the 2022 T20 World Cup winning campaign, only to be recalled into the ODI setup for the World Cup in India. His persistent knee issue also kept him out of the opening few matches of the ODI World Cup, before returning with a couple of hundreds in the global tournament.</p>

Losing three wickets isn't the ideal situation. When you are in a situation like that, all you are looking to do is create that long partnership, which we got. But couple of guys threw it at the end, including myself."</p>

<p>He added, "I thought we were 30 runs short. (On India's new ball bowling) It's not something you see everyday. When you start your innings, you have to somehow try and get a couple of wickets to put the pressure back on the opposition. With the experience that our seamers have now, you can always rely and bank on them to get those crucial breakthroughs. That's exactly what our seamers did. They exploited the conditions pretty well. There was swing, there was lateral a bit of lateral movement as well. They put the ball in the right areas to create that doubt in the batters' mind."</p>

Meanwhile, England attained another dubious feat in the ongoing World Cup, losing four back-to-back games for the first time ever. When the times were tough, all our experienced players stood up at the right time and got the game for us. Looking at how the tournament has gone for us, batting second in the first five games, we had to come and bat here. We were challenged upfront, they bowled pretty well upfront. For us to get to a total on a pitch that had something in it, we just wanted to get to a total where we could play with it. We were not great with the bat today. Losing three wickets isn't the ideal situation. When you are in a situation like that, all you are looking to do is create that long partnership, which we got. But couple of guys threw it at the end, including myself."</p>

<p>The ‘Sultan of swing’ Wasim Akram cannot stop praising ace seamer Jasprit Bumrah following India’s statement-making win over England in Lucknow in World Cup 2023. <p>Talking on a TV show in Pakistan, Akram hailed India’s premier bowler, Bumrah, the best of this generation, even going to the extent of calling him someone with better control of the new ball than himself.</p>

<p>“He is the best in the world right now. Top of the ladder! The control, the pace, the variations, just a complete bowler. A treat to watch,” Akram told&nbsp;A Sports.&nbsp;</p>

<h2>Special Bumrah amazes Akram</h2>

<p>Besides delivering perfect Yorkers, Bumrah is as lethal with the new ball as any in modern-day cricket. His ability to make the new ball talk both ways, mostly while bowling from around the wicket to the left-handers, makes it almost impossible for them to play him, let alone attack.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Comparing himself to Bumrah, Akram noted, even he didn’t have the same control as Bumrah.</p>

<p>“When I used to bowl outswingers like that to right-handed batters with the new ball, sometimes I couldn’t control the ball also. But Bumrah definitely has better control with the new ball than myself,” Wasim said with a smile.</p>

<p>“The length where he bowls with the new ball is what creates uncertainty for the batters,” he added.</p>

<p>With the win in Lucknow, India have assured themselves of a place in the semis, while England, with five losses in six matches, is ruled out of the race for the semis.</p>

Special Bumrah amazes Akram Besides delivering perfect Yorkers, Bumrah is as lethal with the new ball as any in modern-day cricket. His ability to make the new ball talk both ways, mostly while bowling from around the wicket to the left-handers, makes it almost impossible for them to play him, let alone attack. Comparing himself to Bumrah, Akram noted, even he didn’t have the same control as Bumrah. “When I used to bowl outswingers like that to right-handed batters with the new ball, sometimes I couldn’t control the ball also. But Bumrah definitely has better control with the new ball than myself,” Wasim said with a smile. “The length where he bowls with the new ball is what creates uncertainty for the batters,” he added. When it happened, it was obviously frustrating. I was very angry at what had happened and started questioning why and all of that."</p>

<p>"But I started seeing the best in what happened much later when I was in Bangalore, and realised that it came at a time when I really needed that break away from the game, because there was a lot going on with me mentally - and, for the first time in my career, I felt like I had no answers," he added.</p>
