British actress Millie Bobby Brown, best known for her role in Stranger Things, recently shared that her journey to feminism was sparked by an unconventional source: a psychic.

Speaking about her feminist awakening in an interview with Glamour, the actress shed light on her evolution from a young actress to a passionate advocate for women's rights.

She shared that her journey as a feminist began with a visit to a psychic who, during their session, informed her that she was, indeed, a feminist. Following her encounter with the psychic, the curious actress didn't waste any time. She returned home and, in her own words, "immediately searched on Google: 'How do I know if I'm a feminist?'" This simple online search set her on a path of self-discovery and activism.

During her internet deep dive, Brown revealed that she began to truly grasp the concept of feminism and what it meant to her. She realised that, at its core, feminism is about opportunity and equality for all genders. This awakening has since become a driving force in her life.

Brown has channelled her passion for feminism into her work through her production company, PCMA, whose name is derived from the initials of Millie and her siblings (Paige, Charlie, Millie, Ava). PCMA, a family-run venture, has a specific focus on spotlighting the stories of girls and women, whose narratives are often underrepresented in cinema to this day.

One of PCMA's notable successes includes acquiring the rights to the Enola Holmes books and creating a thriving franchise in collaboration with Netflix. Brown's upcoming Netflix project, Damsel, also exemplifies her commitment to female-focused narratives. In the film, where she shares the screen with Angela Bassett and Robin Wright, Brown plays a dragon-fighting princess, and the underlying theme is feminism, as she acknowledged in the interview.

However, Brown's advocacy for women extends beyond her work in the entertainment industry. At just 14 years old, she took on the role of a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, making her the youngest person ever appointed to this position by the organization. In this role, Brown has championed efforts to raise awareness about menstrual care and provide education to girls around the world.

Madonna kicks off 78-date world tour in London four months after health scare

Amidst the latest tragic developments in the Israeli-Hamas conflict, Amy Schumer, the 42-year-old comedian and actress, has chosen to open up about her deeply personal experiences with anti-semitism and her family's connection to the Holocaust. On Friday, October 13, she took to Instagram to share her heartfelt reflections.

In her Instagram post, Schumer shared a poignant glimpse into her upbringing, noting the indelible impact of her uncle Alex, who bore the Auschwitz tattooed numbers on his forearm. She recounted attending Hebrew school and reading countless books about the Holocaust, an experience that is common among Jewish children.

Schumer candidly expressed the pain of encountering the world's confusing hatred directed toward the Jewish community, revealing that she had been ridiculed for her Jewish heritage by both fellow students and parents.

"As a child I grew up, with uncle Alex, numbers from Auschwitz burned into his forearm," Amy wrote in her post. "Attending Hebrew school reading endless books about the holocaust like all Jewish children do. Learning of the worlds confusing hatred for us. Was ridiculed for being Jewish by the students and parents alike."

"I’m not laughing anymore or being quiet anymore," Schumer boldly declared in her post. "I’m proud to be descended from a population they have tried to exterminate over and over again thousands of years. My ancestors fought too hard and survived too much for me to sit quietly. I am Jewish. I am proud."

Amidst the latest tragic developments in the Israeli-Hamas conflict, Amy Schumer, the 42-year-old comedian and actress, has chosen to open up about her deeply personal experiences with anti-semitism and her family's connection to the Holocaust.

Was ridiculed for being Jewish by the students and parents alike." "I’m not laughing anymore or being quiet anymore," Schumer boldly declared in her post. "I’m proud to be descended from a population they have tried to exterminate over and over again thousands of years. My ancestors fought too hard and survived too much for me to sit quietly. I am Jewish. I am proud." Ciara pens heartfelt note honouring lives lost in Israel following Hamas' surprise attack

On behalf of Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja, who tied the knot in 2018 and now have a son named Vayu, Bengaluru-based online reputation management company AiPlex Software Pvt Ltd have served a legal notice to YouTuber Raginyy over a video that humorously roasted the Bollywood actress.

Raginyy's video playfully poked fun at some statements made by Sonam in her 2018 film Veere Di Wedding. While the video led to a significant surge in Raginyy's followers, from 7,000 to a substantial 37,000.

The legal notice contends that the video has cast a negative shadow on the reputation of both Sonam and Anand, as well as their fashion brands. In response, Raginyy shared another video titled She Who Must Not Be Named and posted a screenshot of the legal notice on her Instagram account. However, Instagram later removed the screenshot.

News of the legal notice quickly spread on social media, prompting a wave of support for the YouTuber. Many users defended Raginyy, asserting that her video did not contain offensive content. One commenter praised her for her articulate approach, saying, "You've made some excellent points. You're so much more articulate than Soham and Anaaj. You go, girl."

Another pointed out the expiration of the authorisation period, stating, "The letter says they authorised for 6 months, it's been 8 months now. The company doesn't have any right now."

A third commenter advised not to respond to the legal notice, stating, "No need to give them bhaav. Even the reply draft from your side isn't required. Trust me, supplement companies have sent me legal notices in the past (from India's top advocate firm), and one of them got shut down within 30 days of sending. And subscribers are almost 7k now, ji."

Another comment emphasised the fair use of YouTube content, saying, "No one can give you any copyright strike even for the Koffee with Karan clip since it is under the fair use of YouTube. You can use any clip as long as you are putting some narration or commentary on it."

The legal tussle between the prominent Bollywood couple and the YouTuber has sparked a broader conversation about the boundaries of humour and copyright issues in the digital age. It remains to be seen how this situation will unfold and whether it will have lasting implications for content creators and artists.

Another pointed out the expiration of the authorisation period, stating, "The letter says they authorised for 6 months, it's been 8 months now. The company doesn't have any right now." Also read: Eric Roth set to script Netflix's limited series on John F. Kennedy A third commenter advised not to respond to the legal notice, stating, "No need to give them bhaav. Even the reply draft from your side isn't required. Trust me, supplement companies have sent me legal notices in the past (from India's top advocate firm), and one of them got shut down within 30 days of sending. And subscribers are almost 7k now, ji." Another comment emphasised the fair use of YouTube content, saying, "No one can give you any copyright strike even for the Koffee with Karan clip since it is under the fair use of YouTube. You can use any clip as long as you are putting some narration or commentary on it." The legal tussle between the prominent Bollywood couple and the YouTuber has sparked a broader conversation about the boundaries of humour and copyright issues in the digital age. It remains to be seen how this situation will unfold and whether it will have lasting implications for content creators and artists.
Three-and-a-half months after she was hospitalised with a bacterial infection that forced the cancellation of her 40th anniversary "Celebration" tour, Madonna returns on Saturday with the start of a 78-date tour.
At 65, the singer looks set to put her health woes behind her with a six-month-long tour of Europe and North America starting at London's 02 Arena.

The tour will also take in the Accor Arena in Paris on November 12, 13, 19 and 20 and the Bell Center in Montreal on January 18 and 20, before winding up at the Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico on April 24.

Crash Landing on You actress Cha Chung-hwa is getting married this month; here're all the details

Kim 'V' Taehyung, a beloved member of the globally renowned K-pop group BTS, found himself at the centre of controversy recently when he wore a durag during a livestream. Durag, a cloth tied tightly around head, is often associated with Black and hip-hop artists.

Traditionally used to maintain hairstyles, durag has significant cultural ties to Black communities, particularly Black men. It gained widespread recognition during the 1990s, thanks to its use by prominent figures in the hip-hop and rap industry like Jay-Z, Nelly, and 50 Cent.

V's sporting of the cloth soon ignited a heated debate on social media, with fans divided over the implications of his fashion choice.

V's livestream took place on WeVerse shortly after attending an afterparty for rapper Lil Uzi Vert in Seoul. As he interacted with fans, a red durag hanging on a keyboard stand behind him caught the attention of many viewers.

"I received it as a gift," V explained, as he briefly put on the durag before taking it off. However, he did not disclose who had gifted it to him, leading fans to speculate about its origin.

Notably, this was not the first time the singer had been seen with the durag in livestreams.

Yet, criticism and accusations of cultural appropriation swiftly followed V's livestream.

Some fans expressed their concerns, arguing that V's actions were disrespectful to Black culture and that he appeared to be using the durag to adopt a "hood" or "gangsta" image.

One fan expressed their views on social media, stating, "For people trying to downplay Taehyung wearing the durag: it’s part of Black culture and used to protect our hair. He is not racist, but it is ignorant."

Another fan reacted emotionally, writing, "I wake up, and the first thing I see is Tae wearing a durag. I’m crying so bad, what?"

"Why the f**k Tae got a durag, and which dumbs gave it to him?" questioned another individual.

In contrast, some fans defended V, emphasising that anyone should be able to wear a durag without being accused of cultural appropriation. They suggested that V might not have been aware of the cultural significance and history of the durag.

One supporter stated, "Anyone can wear a durag. I see it all the time around me, and yes, I’m Black. Taehyung always promotes Black artists. He even works with them."

Another fan wrote, "As a Black person, I don’t understand why Taehyung wearing a durag is offensive, especially if it’s not being used in an offensive way and especially because it was a gift. I don’t know, educate me if I’m wrong."

On the work front, V recently released his first solo album Layover.

Lana Del Rey has slammed a Christian influencer who accused the "Summertime Sadness" singer of practising witchcraft during one of her recent concerts. The incident unfolded on Instagram when the music sensation was targeted by a woman claiming that Del Rey's "demonic energy" caused a crowd mishap at one of her shows.

The accuser boldly stated, "Whatever witchcraft Lana Del Rey is doing, the spells she is putting on her music to make it attractive, those demons are being invited into the crowd and into you when you attend. These demons will destroy your life."

Tying her argument to biblical references, she urged her followers to "stay away" from the Grammy-winning artist. The troll even shared footage of concertgoers seemingly falling simultaneously during Del Rey's performance at a recent music festival.

This snappy comeback led the accuser to disable her comments, but it set Del Rey's fans abuzz with applause on X, formerly Twitter.

Kendall Jenner, Bad Bunny spotted at Luis Miguel's concert at Madison Square Garden in NYC

Dwayne Johnson, popularly known as The Rock, has candidly addressed the backlash he and Oprah Winfrey faced following their call for public donations to support the Maui wildfire recovery fund. In a heartfelt video posted on his Instagram page, Johnson expressed understanding for the criticism, pledged to learn from the experience, and vowed to do better in the future.

Johnson began by acknowledging the initial backlash, stating, "When we first launched the fund, there was some backlash. I get it and I completely understand, and I could've been better. And next time I will be better."

He empathised with the financial struggles many people face, recognising that "money ain't falling out of the sky, and it's not growing on trees."

He continued, "There's a lot of people out there who's living paycheck to paycheck. And I get it, and I know what that's like."

"The last thing you want to hear when you are living from paycheck to paycheck is someone asking you for money, especially when the person asking you for money already has a lot of money," Johnson candidly admitted.

"I’m so grateful and moved by all the messages I’m receiving out of Maui from the survivors of the devastating wildfires who are now getting their personal funding from The People’s Fund of Maui. The strength of our people of Maui is beautiful and inspiring. Watching families and community come together after this tragedy is inspirational and I’m proud of our Polynesian people. Thank you to everyone who has helped by sending resources, love and prayers to all people affected by the fires and a loving mahalo and RESPECT to our OG cultural leaders, our local community organizations, all our first responders and every person who came together to help our people," the post's caption read.

"And to everyone in my social media community right here. Our connection is everything because we only know how to be REAL with each other. You always tell me the truth - good or bad - I’ll always appreciate and protect that straight talk between us - you have my word to always listen, learn, grow and do better.
I’ve never launched a fund before - trust me, I’m a quick study and learn my lessons fast I totally get it and I appreciate you."

And next time I will be better." He empathised with the financial struggles many people face, recognising that "money ain't falling out of the sky, and it's not growing on trees." He continued, "There's a lot of people out there who's living paycheck to paycheck. And I get it, and I know what that's like." "The last thing you want to hear when you are living from paycheck to paycheck is someone asking you for money, especially when the person asking you for money already has a lot of money," Johnson candidly admitted. I’ve never launched a fund before - trust me, I’m a quick study and learn my lessons fast I totally get it and I appreciate you." Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson opens up about Maui wildfire fund backlash: 'Lesson learned'

Celebrations are in order for Grammy-winning rapper 21 Savage, born She’yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, as he officially becomes a permanent resident of the United States, paving the way for him to embark on international travels, including a highly-anticipated performance in his hometown, London.

The rapper's lawyer, Charles Kuck, revealed in a statement to The Associated Press that 21 Savage is now a lawful permanent resident of the United States, granting him the freedom to travel overseas without restrictions. This marks a monumental milestone in the artist's life, given his past encounters with US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

In 2019, 21 Savage made headlines when he was taken into custody by ICE agents in Georgia. The rapper spent 10 days in a detention centre, igniting a wave of support from his fans and fellow artists. His arrest was tied to issues surrounding his visa, which had expired back in 2006.

Kuck noted that 21 Savage diligently adhered to all relevant immigration laws since his initial detention, and this meticulous approach has ultimately led to the termination of his immigration court proceedings, securing his permanent residency in the United States.

The Atlanta-based artist, who immigrated to the US at the age of 7, expressed in a 2019 interview with the AP that individuals like him, who arrived in the country illegally as children, should be granted automatic US citizenship. He highlighted the daunting visa application process, which often deters undocumented immigrants due to its long-lasting implications.

He highlighted the daunting visa application process, which often deters undocumented immigrants due to its long-lasting implications. Rapper 21 Savage granted permanent US residency, plans international homecoming concert in London

British filmmaker Terence Davies, best known for a pair of powerful, lyrical movies inspired by his childhood in postwar Liverpool, has died at the age of 77.

Davies’ manager John Taylor said the director died “peacefully at home in his sleep” on Saturday after a short illness.

Raised in a large working-class Roman Catholic family in the English port city, Davies worked as a clerk in a shipping office and a bookkeeper in an accountancy firm before enrolling at a drama school in the city of Coventry and later the National Film School.

After making several short films, Davies made his feature debut as writer-director in 1988 with Distant Voices, Still Lives, a dreamlike — sometimes nightmarish — collage of a film that evoked a childhood of poverty and violence leavened by music and movie magic. The film won the Cannes International Critics Prize in 1988, and in 2002 was voted the ninth-best film of the past 25 years by British film critics.

Davies followed it in 1992 with another autobiographical film, The Long Day Closes, and later returned to Liverpool for a 2008 documentary, Of Time and the City.

Michael Koresky, author of a book on Davies; said the director’s two autobiographical features “are melancholy, occasionally harrowing, and are also indescribably beautiful, two of the greatest works in all of cinema.”

“Arguably, he doesn’t even have imitators; no one would dare,” Koresky wrote on the British Film Institute website.

Drake offers to pay medical bill of fan dealing with multiple sclerosis at his Toronto show

Bruno Mars' highly-anticipated concert scheduled for Saturday night in Tel Aviv, Israel, has been cancelled, as confirmed by concert organiser Live Nation Israel. The cancellation announcement was made through a text post on the company's verified Instagram account earlier in the day.

The Grammy-winning artist had already performed in Israel for the first time earlier in the week, entertaining a crowd of 60,000 fans. A second show was scheduled for Saturday as part of his tour itinerary.

However, the cancellation comes in the midst of escalating conflict in the region. Israel's Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, declared a state of war after Palestinian militants from Gaza launched a devastating barrage of rockets and sent gunmen into Israeli territory on Saturday morning. Bruno Mars' highly-anticipated concert scheduled for Saturday night in Tel Aviv, Israel, has been cancelled, as confirmed by concert organiser Live Nation Israel.

In response, Israel initiated airstrikes on Gaza, leading to continued fighting throughout the day. This surprise attack and the subsequent hostilities mark a significant escalation in the longstanding conflict between the two sides. Israeli authorities report that over 200 people have died, and more than 1,400 are wounded in Israel. Meanwhile, Palestinian authorities claim that at least 232 Palestinians have lost their lives, and more than 1,600 are injured. Kendall Jenner meets Bad Bunny in Miami after his Billboard Latin Music Awards wins

Like many players, former Sri Lankan cricketer, Muttiah Muralitharan also now has his biopic, 800. But unlike most biopics, 800 does not just focus on one player and his goals. The title, 800, is a tribute to the wickets he earned during his cricket career, but the movie tells the story of not just a man, but an entire community and a country, and how the geopolitical tension shaped his life.

During an exclusive chat with WION, actor Madhur Mittal and the cricketer revealed more details.

So Madhur, from playing a Punjabi child in Shaka Laka Boom Boom, to a rogue in Slumdog Millionaire and now a cricket player in 800. You have enjoyed quite the range.

Madhur Mittal: I have been lucky, although I haven't done too much work. Actors are rated on their versatility, and despite such a short number of films I have managed to explore a lot of characters. I have been given all these different opportunities and it has culminated into this fantastic character that I am going to play in 800. I am very grateful.

800 isn't just an ordinary biopic. It involves the story of a country. So what were the script-reading sessions like?

Muttiah Muralitharan: I didn't do anything extraordinary, I only made sure that it remains a true story. I did not join the script reading sessions. Even when they were shooting, I just went once when they were shooting near my parents' house. The first time I met Madhur was when I was told that he was locked for the role. I spoke with him briefly when I went to Chennai. I told him not to be nervous, not to copy me but to be yourself. After that, I met him during the trailer launch. My involvement was not too much, I just gave permission and freedom to the cast and crew. This movie managed to battle all odds. It paused due to COVID-19, and then Sri Lanka started facing a financial crisis.

Madhur Mittal: My acting sessions and script reading sessions were dramatically different from that of Slumdog Millionaire or Shaka Laka Boom Boom. When you are playing a real-life character, someone who is as legendary as sir, (pointing at Muralitharan), there's a lot of pressure in getting it right. With my director, we shared our visions and what we wanted to achieve through this film. One thing was for certain, was that we just didn't want this film to be a mimicry, but go beyond that. This movie is so much more than just a sports film, this is a human story, and it has character study. There is an incredible arch that not just the character goes through, but the entire community, and the country. There's a lot of layers to it. Even sir gave me that brief. One can't reduce such an incredible life with just actions and expressions. So, we worked on the depth of the movie.

The former Indian cricket players, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Anil Kumble and Virender Sehwag have all come out and shown their support for the film. What were your off-the-field conversations like? What kind of bond did you share with the Indian cricket team?

Muttiah Muralitharan: We were opponents on the cricket field but outside that we were all very good friends. We have been playing for decades. They have helped me a lot previously too. I have a charity organisation where many members of the cricketing fraternity have come and played matches to raise funds. Indian players feel a lot for other people.

While shooting the movie, and reading the script, what remained the toughest role in bringing out the reality?

Madhur Mittal: The funny thing is no one was really aware of it until I was locked for the film. Nearly eight years ago, I had a really bad car crash, after which my arms got bent. Even sir, (Muralitharan) has naturally bent elbows, which becomes slightly difficult to emulate. It is difficult to replicate his actions, and it was the toughest part to get that right. But because I had naturally bent elbows, I hope I was able to do a better job.

Muttiah Muralitharan: It was such a turbulence to make this movie, just like my life. It was one heck of a rollercoaster ride. It took five years to complete the movie and unlike people in my life, people on sets were not negative. I would urge everyone to come and watch the movie then they will understand how to be a champion and how to overcome obstacles in your life. I hope the audience really enjoy this movie.
