The world is a global village.

As most people quarantine in their homes amid the coronavirus outbreak, all celebrities are coming up with some way to entertain themselves and their fans.

In an interesting new addition, Korean Pop band BTS have now launched a new web series so as to teach their fans Korean so that their music can be understood by all including the lyrics. What a time to do that right, considering we all have so much time in our hands?

BTS were formed in Seoul in 2010 and have since gone on to break all music records, becoming the first Korean band to enter mainstream music industries of the world. As their popularity rises, BTS are now hosting 30 lessons on the social media app Weverse from March 24.

The episodes are "designed to make it easy and fun for global fans who have difficulty enjoying BTS' music and contents due to the language barrier," said their record label in a statement.

While most would think that they designed these lessons during quarantine, the label said that they had it planned way before. The idea came about after the band's passionate fanbase called for English subtitles to be added to their videos.

"There are only limited ways our fans could learn Korean with ease. Big Hit has created Korean learning media using artist content for a more rewarding and immersive experience for our fans," said Big Hit's founder, Bang Si-Hyuk.

Each of the three-minute episodes will focus on simple Korean grammar and expressions, with the lesson plan developed by Professor Heo Yong of the Department of Korean Education at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies; and researchers at the Korean Language Content Institute.

K-Pop band BTS launch web series to teach fans Korean amid COVID-19 quarantine

Trust James Corden to bring some of the biggest names in the music industry together for his special show in quarantine. With nearly more than half of the world's population under lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, chat show host James Corden has decided to make and hour-long special show for his audience and has roped in musicians like Billie Eilish, John Legend and more.

On March 30, the English comedian-chat show host will host 'Homefest: James Corden's Late Late Show Special' from his garage. He will remotely be accompanied by the likes of Eilish, K-pop band BTS, John Legen, Dua Lipa and more.
Hollywood stars such as Will Ferrell and David Blaine will also be joining in with BTS joining from South Korea and Andrea Bocelli from Italy.

"Since ‘The Late Late Show’ came off the air, we have been thinking of different ways to try and make a show at this time,” said executive producers Ben Winston and Rob Crabbe in a statement Wednesday.

“With the help of some wonderful guests, we are going to try to put on the best show we can, to entertain, raise awareness, raise money and hopefully lift spirits.

They admit that shooting from James' garage is not the ideal situation but "under the circumstances, we hope it can help someone, somewhere, who needs some cheer right now," the statement further added.

Throughout the show, Corden and his guests will constantly remind viewers to follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines to prevent further spread of the virus. They would also be providing information on how to donate to the CDC Foundation and Feed The Children.

South Korea`s BTS may have cancelled their April concert in Seoul over coronavirus fears, but the K-pop group`s fervent fans are rallying in small groups and emulating their idols in donating money for coronavirus relief.

"When the concert was cancelled, I was really upset," said one disappointed fan, Im Yu-mi, 19, sitting in her room on a chair covered by a BTS blanket.

Im scoffed at the idea that the concert cancellation had cooled the fervour of BTS` global fan base known as ARMY, an acronym for Adorable Representative MC for Youth.

"It`s nonsense," she said, waving a glowstick and tapping her foot to the band`s latest music video.

Around 200,000 fans had been expected to go to the concert, which was to be the first leg of BTS` 'Map of the Soul' tour of 18 cities, including Los Angeles, Washington DC, London and Tokyo.

Those concerts have not yet been cancelled, but the swift spread of the virus globally has cast doubt on the rest of the tour.

On Tuesday, BTS announced that ticket sales for the European leg would be delayed by several days because of uncertainty over the coronavirus. Their next concert in Santa Clara, California, on April 25 remains unchanged, according to their music label, Big Hit Entertainment.

BTS, a seven-member boy band, has spearheaded a wave of Korean pop music far beyond Asia since their 2013 debut.

Earlier this month, the band`s new album 'Map of the Soul: 7' topped the Billboard 200 album chart, following three other similar successes.

Plans for a large media event in February for the album launch were ditched due to the coronavirus health scare. Instead, the band live-streamed a news conference.

South Korea has reported over 8,400 confirmed cases of coronavirus, with 84 deaths.

Last week, BTS fans wearing face masks gathered to celebrate the birthday of band member SUGA at a cafe decorated with posters of him. They had their temperatures checked and were given hand sanitiser at the door.

SUGA is originally from Daegu, the city hardest-hit in the country`s coronavirus outbreak, and has donated 100 million won ($80,600) to prevent its spread, according to Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association.

About 11,000 BTS fans followed suit, the association said, donating more than half a billion won. Many of them have even given their ticket refunds from the April concert to purchase relief goods for the needy.

K-pop sensation BTS' label picks JPMorgan, others for IPO - media

The young stars in South Korean boy band BTS said on Monday the theme of their new album dealt with how they overcame doubts and fears encountered since they burst on the K-Pop scene seven years ago.

Having performed at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles last month, BTS stands at the forefront of South Korean pop music and has helped gather an international audience for the genre.

On Friday, the band released "Map of the Soul: 7", its fourth album. The 20 tracks include collaborations with Sia and Troye Sivan.
Plans for a large media event in Seoul for the album were ditched due to the coronavirus health scare in South Korea, but the band instead livestreamed a news conference based on preregistered questions.

"Sometimes we were uncertain, sometimes we were lost. Every time that happened, the shadows and fear inside us grew," rapper Suga told the news conference aired via YouTube.

"But it`s been seven years. I think we have grounded ourselves now, and we learned how to do that, the difficulties and wounds we face and fight them."

Though several young K-Pop stars have struggled with cyber bullying and depression, Suga did not elaborate on what difficulties BTS faced.

But the group, whose seven members are in their Twenties, took an unexpectedly long vacation last year to "recharge".

When asked about the comment by Bong Joon-ho, director of the Oscar-winning "Parasite", who recently said BTS was 3,000 times more influential than him, Suga said he was an avid fan of Bong`s work and hoped more South Korean artists would be introduced to the world.

Leader and rapper RM likened K-pop to a "giftbox" integrating music, dance, video and interaction with fans, saying the personal elements the band infuses in its music might have boosted its global popularity.

"We try to instil personal stories in our music and dance and I think the concerns and feelings that we have resonate with people around the world," he said.

But making music is a "constant battle to show your weakness and fight the fear of expressing your fear," he added.
We have all been excited for ‘Sooryavanshi’ ever since it was announced that Akshay Kumar will take over the cop’s role in Rohit Shetty’s film and that he will be returning on the screen with Katrina Kaif after several years.

We have all been excited for ‘Sooryavanshi’ ever since it was announced that Akshay Kumar will take over the cop’s role in Rohit Shetty’s film and that he will be returning on the screen with Katrina Kaif after several years. But there’s more. In an interview to a Mumbai-based magazine, Ajay Devgn who will also be a part of the film in the form of a cameo role recently said, “Expect what you saw in ‘Simmba’. We’ve known each other for a long time. We spent time remembering our old days when we’d keep pulling each other’s legs. We narrated those incidents to those around us on the set and laughed remembering them.” The film will see Akshay Kumar as Sooryavanshi, Ajay Devgn as Singham and Ranveer Singh as Simmba -- the coming together of all three cops from Rohit Shetty’s previous films. Singer in K-pop boyband BTS investigated after car crash 'error'

The Saudi capital burst into life with the cheers of young fans of Korean pop group BTS as they performed in the kingdom seeking to transform its ultra-conservative image.

The seven members of the wildly popular K-pop band were sweating it out as they danced and sang Friday night in front of thousands of Saudis and expatriates in Riyadh's 70,000-capacity King Fahd International Stadium.

"I am very happy that they are here in Saudi Arabia for the first time," said a young girl, Amira, who wore a veil loosely over her head.
"I hope that there will more of these kinds of concerts," she told AFP.

Another young Saudi, who asked not to be named, said she was happy that her country was "opening up to pop music".
She added that she was a big fan of BTS songs and that they had "personally touched" her.

Many welcomed the group's decision to perform in Saudi Arabia, which has loosened decades-old restrictions on entertainment as part of a push to improve its image and attract tourists in a broader plan to diversify its economy away from oil.

But others criticised BTS for performing in the kingdom due to its oft-criticised human rights record and targeting of dissidents and homosexuals.

While the contentious liberalisation drive has also seen women gain some more freedoms, including being able to drive and travel more independently, the crackdown on rights campaigners and dissidents has intensified at the same time.

As Saudi Arabia boosts its entertainment offering, its record has put off some artists, including rapper Nicki Minaj, who pulled out of the Jeddah World Fest in July, citing human rights concerns.

Janet Jackson, 50 Cent and Chris Brown were among artists who did not turn down the kingdom's invitation to perform.

'Supporting our country'

But fans on Friday were excited about the prospect of future events, as children and their parents waited in anticipation outside the stadium in the kingdom that rarely pulsates to the beats of pop songs and throngs of young people.

"This concert means a lot to me," said Mohammed, who had the green Saudi flag tied around his shoulders.

"I feel like this is supporting our country and our economy. Also, that we are showing everyone that we welcome everyone," added the young man, who said he was an amateur YouTuber who produces art and music.

Nearby was a group of three Filipinos, who made the trip from Jeddah, about 800 kilometres (500 miles) west of Riyadh.

"We've been waiting for such an event for so long," one of the young women told AFP before she bolted with her friends to listen to their "favourite" song.
K-Pop's BTS rocks out in ultra-conservative Saudi Arabia

South Korean boy band BTS opened up about the group`s recent hiatus and their decision to perform in Saudi Arabia.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the band members -- RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook, opened up about what`s next for the group following their extended period of rest and relaxation.

The Korean boy band calmed worries about their hiatus, which sent fans into a frenzy, even speculating a break-up."It`s not a big deal. It`s literally a vacation," member Suga told the outlet.

The five-week hiatus ended on September 16 and group member Jimin added that they`re happy to be continuing with their music.
"We`re not really compelling each other to keep this going. It`s nothing like that. We just have so much fun together singing and dancing that we want it to continue," he said.

Suga echoed similar sentiments, adding, "As long as our bodies hold up, we`ll be doing the same thing in 10 years."

The stars also discussed their decision to perform in Saudi Arabia, which has raised eyebrows. Rapper Nicki Minaj pulled out of a concert in the country in July because of human rights issues, stating that she wanted to show support for women`s rights, gay rights and freedom of expression.

"I wouldn`t say it was easy. But we were officially invited. It`s been a while since we`ve performed in the Middle East - I guess the last time was 2015 in Dubai," RM said.

Jimin added, "To put it simply, if there`s a place where people want to see us, we`ll go there. That`s really how we feel."
The singers also have a few more dreams they`d like to fulfill. For instance, when asked about their dream collaboration, the artists said that they will love to team up with Drake.

The South Korean boy band has been performing and releasing songs non-stop since their debut in 2013.

In the last six years, they have played and released six full-length albums and six EPs.The news of BTS` break came nearly four months after they dropped their `Map of the Soul: Persona` album, which featured collaborations with singers Halsey and Ed Sheeran.
