Tasked to defend 213 for India, Sri Lanka did not have the best start as they lost three wickets in the first powerplay. The hosts were 25/3 before Sadeera Samarawickrama (17) and Asalanka (22) built a mini-partnership of 43 runs for the fourth wicket. India quickly gained control of the contest with another three quick-fire wickets as Sri Lanka were 99/6 with Kuldeep and Jadeja running riot with the ball.

However, India then faced a frustrating period as Sri Lanka almost gained a commanding position in the match. Dhananjaya de Silva (41) and Dunith Wellalage (42) stitched 63 runs for the seventh wicket as Sri Lanka needed just 51 runs to win the contest before the former was dismissed.

Kuldeep then wrapped the tail, ending with figures of 43/4 while Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah scalped two wickets each for India. Sri Lanka were bowled out for 172 and will have a tough task in hand when they take on Pakistan.

Pakistan coach Grant Bradburn is 'grateful' for the drubbing handed to his team by India in Super Four clash of the Asia Cup 2023. It was Pakistan's biggest loss in terms of runs in ODIs against India as they lost the game by 228 runs while chasing 356.

"My gut feeling is that we are grateful for the gift that has been this last two days," Bradburn told reporters after the match.

"We lost at all facets of the game," Bradburn said. "No excuses, we weren't good enough in the last two days."

India, thanks to skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill's fifties, had a great platform for other batters. After ending the first day on 147/2 in 24.1 overs, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul both hit sensational centuries on the reserve day as India piled on 356/2 in 50 overs.

Pakistan were never in the hunt as they kept losing wickets in regular interval, eventually folding down for a paltry 128. Kuldeep Yadav was India's ace bowler, picking up a five-for to help pack things quickly.

Virat Kohli hit his 47th ODI ton against Pakistan in the Super Four clash in Asia Cup 2023 and with that, he broke several records. The modern master, on his way to his century, also became the fastest to 13,000 ODI runs, beating Sachin Tendulkar to the mark. He also equalled a unique feat in the 50-over&nbsp;game which previously had only been achieved by former South African batter Hashim Amla.

As soon as Kohli scored his century, he became only the second batsman in the world to hit four consecutive hundreds on a single venue which is R. Premadasa in Colombo in his case. Amla had scored four consecutive centuries in Centurion between 2015 and 2017.&nbsp;

Kohli scored 122 not out in the September 11 clash in Colombo and had scored 128*(119), 131(96) and 110*(116) in his previous three ODI outings. Amla, meanwhile, had scored 133, 124, 127, and 157 to become the first player ever to score four consecutive 100s at the same venue.

Kohli now has 13,024 runs in ODI and he has reached them in just 267 innings while Tendulkar, who previously held the record, had breached the 13K mark in 321 innings. Luckily, you can make changes in your World Cup team, and in case he is unfit and doesn't recover then there will be somebody who will replace him. It is sad because he looked good in that match against Pakistan. He played a lovely cover drive."

It is very worrying that players are getting injured again and again and it is mostly to do with the kind of training they do. So that is the question NCA needs to answer because that is where players go and rehabilitate and train themselves. And what KL Rahul brings to this table is stability in the batting line-up."

The cut-off time for the rain-curtailed India and Pakistan clash at the Asia Cup on Sunday has been extended from 60 minutes to 90 minutes along with the possibility of a 20-over run-chase scenario as well.

As per the latest updates, the cut-off time for the game for time is now 12 am (local time) and the 20-over clash between the two sides can begin as late as 10.36 pm (local time), ESPNcricinfo reported, adding that the next inspection will take place at 7.30 pm.

Earlier in the day, for the second time this Asia Cup, rain played spoilsport in a clash involving traditional rivals India and Pakistan, as the blockbuster Super Four clash at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo was halted after heavy showers forced the ground staff to bring on the covers.

India, given a flying start by the opening pair of skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, were sitting pretty at 147 for the loss of 2 wickets when the heavens intervened.

However, before the teams were forced back to the dressing rooms, Rohit and Shubman put on a show smacking the Pakistani bowlers to all corners in a whirlwind partnership of 121 runs.

Shaheen Shaf Afridi and Shadab Khan claimed a wicket apiece to bring the Pakistanis back into the game after the India openers sent them on a leather hunt in the initial overs.

Rohit (56) fell to a soft dismissal off Shadab while Gill (58) perished in the next over, failing to read a slower one from Shaheen and lobbing a catch to Agha Salman at extra cover.

Virat Kohli and KL Rahul then came together and looked to have stabilised the innings when rain interrupted play. Kohli (8)* and KL Rahul (17)* were undefeated at the crease when the umpires called a halt to the proceedings.

<h2>Rahul returns to Team India</h2>

Rahul’s inclusion in the Indian team saw Shreyas Iyer miss out due to a back spasm, as told by skipper Rohit Sharma at the toss. This will be Rahul’s first match for Team India since March having missed the West Indies and Ireland tour. He is expected to bat No.4 with Ishan Kishan coming in at No.5.It will also be interesting who keeps the gloves as Rahul is yet to fully recover from the injury issue.

Rahul’s inclusion in the team could likely give a good headache to the team management either Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan could stay way. Considering Ishan’s form in recent times, he is unlikely to be dropped, having scored four consecutive fifties when he has taken to the field in the ODI format recently. On the flip side, the likes of skipper Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Shubman Gill remain the first names on the sheet.

Rahul will have to take advantage of the situation with competition for places as Suryakumar Yadav is also waiting in the wings. Rahul’s wicketkeeping ability will also be under scanner as he tries to force his way into the team.

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam leads one of the most fearsome pace attacks in the world cricket and he isn't shy to accept that. While the Asian giant's&nbsp;batting, especially the top three, have played significant part in making them number one, it is the bowlers who have always been there to support the batting.&nbsp;

The same was visible during the group stage clash in Asia Cup when Pakistan pace trio of Nassem Shah, Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf rocked India's top order and Babar exuded confidence in his pace attack on the eve of Super Four stage clash.

"I feel very proud of the fast bowlers I have. They're among the best, and help us dominate," he said. "Tournaments and matches are won by fast bowlers, and I fully believe in them. There's no secret; they just believe in themselves and cover for each other."

Pakistan have announced their playing XI for the game, which is scheduled&nbsp;in Colombo, and has made one change in it from the side which faced India in group stage.

The Men In Green have included Faheem Ashraf in place of spinner Mohammad Nawaz for the match against India. Ashraf had also played Pakistan's first Super Four stage match against Bangladesh and had taken one wicket for 27 runs in seven overs. As for spinning options, Iftikhar Ahmed and Agha Salman are the two part-time options apart from specialist Shadab Khan.

"We're testing out different combinations to see what works for us," Babar said about the combination. "We haven't quite worked out exactly how to best approach the middle overs, but we're finishing and starting very well thanks to our fast bowlers. It's a team effort. As a team, we try and get the best out of our players."

The group stage match, however, couldn't get completed because of the rain and that's why a reserve day has been added to the Super Four stage match.

Sri Lanka managed to defend a modest target of 257 against Bangladesh in Super Four clash at the ongoing Asia Cup as they won the match by 21&nbsp;runs. Chasing the total, Bangladesh kept losing wickets at regular interval after 50-run opening partnership and lost their second consecutive match, putting them virtually out of contention of a berth in the final.

Mohammad Naim and Mehidy Hasan Miraz added 55 runs for the first wicket in 11.3 overs before Naim was dismissed by Shanaka. Sri Lanka then took three quick wickets to reduce them four down for 83 inside 19 overs. Mushfiqur Rahim and Towhid Hridoy then added 72 runs for the fourth wicket before Rahim was dismissed.

Sri Lanka bowlers then took three wickets including Hridoy, who hit a brilliant 82 and reduced Bangladesh to eight down for 200. Needing 58 off last six overs, Bangladesh folded quickly and got all-out for 236. The last pair of Hasan Mahmud and Nasum Ahmed did give Sri Lanka a scare by adding 20 runs in 12&nbsp;balls but couldn't take their team home.

Pandya has also impressed with is captaincy skills as well in both India's domestic T20 league IPL and on international platforms. In IPL, Hardik leads Gujarat Titans and in two seasons of team's existence, he has taken them to finals both time including a title-winning maiden season as well.&nbsp;

The win also sees Pakistan remain unbeaten in the Asia Cup and will next take on India on Sunday in a high-voltage clash.

Asked to chase 194, the Babar Azam’s men started on a positive note but lost opener Fakhar Zaman (20) in the last over of the first powerplay. However, his partner Imam held one end to put Pakistan in a comfortable position during the chase. He was supported by Babar Azam (17) before he was bowled by Taskin Ahmed on the third ball of the 16th over.

Imam was looking good for his 10th ODI hundred but was bowled by Mehidy Hasan Miraz on 78 and his innings came to an unfortunate end. Imam’s innings consisted of four sixes and five fours and looked impressive with the bat.

Mohammad Rizwan was another feature of the Pakistan batting line-up as he scored 63&nbsp;runs. He along with Agha Salman (12) guided their team home to register a comprehensive win in Lahore. The likes of Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, and Miraz ended with one wicket each for Bangladesh.

Pakistan pacers Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah shredded Bangladesh's batting order to help the hosts bundle out visitors for 193 in just 38.4 over in the Super Four clash. Pakistan's pace attack was too superheated for Bangladesh as except for Shakib Al Hasan (53) and Mushfiqur Rahim (64) other batters failed to score big. Rauf was the chief destructor as he bagged four while Naseem Shah claimed three and Shaheen Afridi scalped one.

Put to field first, Pakistan's pace attack troubled Bangladesh’s opener from the very start. Naseem Shah drew first blood as he dismissed Mehidy Hasan Miraz for a duck in the second over of the game.

With Pakistan 15/0 in their innings, the floodlights at the Gaddafi Stadium went off creating unsuitable conditions for playing. The incident occurred at the end of the fifth over as Pakistan batters Fakhar Zaman (13) and Imam-ul-Haq (2) were in the middle. The players and the umpires had no idea of what had happened and initially waited in the middle to see if the situation could be resolved.

Interestingly, only one tower of floodlights went off while others were working smoothly at the Gaddafi Stadium.&nbsp; The lights would then return in 20 minutes as Pakistan would continue their run chase. Babar Azam’s men had to chase 194 runs after Bangladesh were bowled out for 193.

Earlier, former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Najam Sethi had trolled the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) for scheduling the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka. ACC initially thought to switch venues for the tournament as the Colombo venue was rain-affected. The ACC planned to switch the matches to Hambantota but did not make the plan official as both PCB and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) agreed to stay at the venue.

Veteran Indian off-spinner R Ashwin has lauded Ishan Kishan and hailed his versatility after the 25-year-old wicketkeeper-batter was named in India's 15-man squad for the 2023 ODI World Cup. Kishan pipped Tilak Varma and Sanju Samson to be included in the provisional squad along with keeper-batter KL Rahul. The young batter has been in solid form in the 50-over format with four successive half-centuries and confirmed his WC spot following a fine 82 versus Pakistan in India's Asia Cup 2023 opener, on September 02.&nbsp;

Speaking on Kishan, Ashwin said on his YouTube channel, "This is not a competition between Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson, because Kishan fills so many roles. When you pick a 15-member squad, you need to pick a backup wicket-keeper. Even when we pick a Ranji Trophy squad, we pick two wicket-keepers."

The 36-year-old Ashwin further highlighted that Kishan can bat anywhere and being a left-hander, he will add more variety to the line-up. It is to be noted that India have two left-handers in the form of Kishan and Ravindra Jadeja among their main&nbsp;batters --&nbsp;Kuldeep Yadav is also a left-hander down the order -- going into the mega event.&nbsp; 
 
“Ishan Kishan is also a back-up opener along with being a back-up wicket-keeper, he is two-in-one player. Now that Ishan Kishan has succeeded at Number 5, it gives India two left-handers in the middle order. Everyone was going gaga over left-handers and they were saying Ishan Kishan cannot bat at No.5, but he has delivered now,” Ashwin added.
