'We might not see any live sport for 4-5 months' - Sunil Gavaskar gives his take on resumption of sporting action

The COVID-19 pandemic has wiped out the entire sporting calendar, leaving fans and sportspersons with no live action at all. Athletes have taken to social media platforms to keep their fans engaged. However, there are reports surfacing that sporting action might witness resumption soon but behind closed doors. Former India skipper Sunil Gavaskar has given his take on the resumption of live matches.
Gavaskar is of the view that sporting authorities would be certainly banging their heads in frustration over the halt in sporting action while adding there are many intelligent people who would come up with some sort of solution in a bid to keep every party happy.

The former India skipper further said that with how things are going, fans and sportspersons might be deprived of any sort of live action for four to five months more which is going to be tough for both fans and players.
"Officials of all the various sporting federations would certainly be banging their heads together to find a solution and I am sure there are many intelligent people in there to be able to come up with some sort of a solution which will keep everybody happy but it's not gonna be easy,” Gavaskar told a leading news portal.

He further opined, "Certainly yes. the way things are going we might not be able to see any live sport for maybe 4-5 months. that's gonna be tough not just on the current players but also those who follow sport. There are so many fans of different sports," added the former right-hander.
While IPL 2020 has been indefinitely postponed amid the COVID-19 pandemic, there are major question marks on whether Australia will be able to host the ICC T20 World Cup, scheduled to be played in October-November.
