Paris Olympics 2024: India shooters Maheshwari Chauhan and Anant Jeet miss shooting bronze by single shot

India shooters Maheshwari Chauhan and Anant Jeet Singh Naruka missed a bronze in mixed skeet event on Monday (Aug 4) at the ongoing Paris Olympic 2024 by a single shot.

The India duo lost 43-44 to China's Yiting Jiang and Jianlin Lyu. In the first set where each shooter from each team got four shots, India's Naruka missed one while China hit target on all.

In the second series of 10 shots, China's Yiting missed three consecutive shots while the Indian duo missed one each as the scores became level at 13-13.

In third series, China's Yiting and India's Chauhan missed one each and the scores still stood level at 20-20.

In the next three series of shots, Chinese shooters didn't miss a single shot while India's Chauhan just missed one which eventually proved to be the difference.

Wrestler Nisha Dahiya losesafter injury

India women wrestler Nisha Dahiya lost her 68 kg freestyle quarterfinal bout to North Korea's Sol Gum Pak with a dislocated elbow and broken finger. Nisha had a lead going into the final round which she then stretched to 8-1.

An injury on right arm with about 30 seconds left in the boutsaw Nisha bursting into tears and get attended by the official medical staff gave her opponent a chance. The North Korean grappler took advantage of the injury and brought scores level at 8-8.

With only 12 seconds left in the bout, Nisha required the medical attention once again and was constantly crying because of pain. The India grappler, however, went down with a 8-10 score despite a valiant effort.
