Paris Olympics 2024: 'Chak de India' actor pens hockey player Amit Rohidas' suspension letter for QF red card

India men's hockey player Amit Rohidas is all set to miss semi-final against Germany at Paris Olympics 2024 after his appeal against ban was rejected on Monday (Aug 5). Rohidas was shown the red card in second quarter of the quarterfinal match against Great Britain on Sunday (Aug 4). India, nonetheless, went on to win the game 4-2 in the shoot-out.
In a cheeky twist, however, his suspension letter was written by one of technical delegates Joshua Burt. Burt is same person who played Australia's head coach in the famous Bollywood movie Chak de India.

India, notably, beat Australia before Great Britain at the Paris Games after a span of 52 years. In the movie, the Aussie were the ones to give actor Shah Rukh Khan-coached India women's team a hard time.
As for the match against Great Britain, Hockey India federation had filed an official complaint on 'umpiring and decision-making.'
"The complaint focuses on a critical match between India and Great Britain, where several inconsistencies in officiating potentially influenced the game's outcome," said Hockey India in a statement.

"These incidents have undermined confidence in the officiating process among players, coaches, and fans. Hockey India calls for a thorough review of these matters to uphold the integrity of the sport and ensure fair play in future matches," the statement further added.
During the match, skipper Harmanpreet Singh scored a goal to take India in front after Rohidas' exit.
Great Britain's Morton Lee scored the equaliser nearly five minutes later in the same quarter, and the score remained 1-1 for the remainder of the game.
India goalkepper PR Sreejesh displayed exemplary skills to save attempts from the Brits in the shootout, while the Indians scored on all four attempts.
India will next play vs Germany in the semi-final on Tuesday (Aug 6).
