
The Indiana Pacers fans were left furious over denial of a flagrant foul by the referees in elimination game of the Eastern Conference finals against the Boston Celtics on Monday (May 27). The Celtics won the game 105-102 and completed the sweep to enter the NBA Finals.
The foul, over which the fans fumed, was against Jaylen Brown - the Most Valuable Player (MVP) winner of the East finals. The incident happened in the fourth quarter when the Pacers were leading 94-88 and under eight minutes were left in the game.

Indiana guard TJ McConnell had tried to collect the ball from offensive rebound aftera shot by Pacers' Andrew Nembhard. McConnell, however, was smacked hard on the face by Brown and immediately fell on the floor writhing in pain. Have a look at the video below:
Upon review, the refs didn't deem it wrong enough for a flagrant foul but was instead termed a regular loose ball. The Celtics gained the momentum from there and not only erased the deficit but won the game as well.
Indiana were in survival mode since the beginning as they entered Game 4, trailing 3-0 in the series. The Pacers started well, scoring 27 points against Boston's 29 in the first quarter.
The game was controlled well by the Pacers in the next 12 minutes as they scored 30 points against Boston's 29. With the game even poised at 58-57 in Boston's favour, the Pacers took overall three-point lead in the 3Q with 26-22 score.
The Pacers were on course to the win the game but Boston turned the tables in the final eight minutes of the fourth quarter, outscoring Indiana 25-19 and won the game with a difference of three points.
For Boston, Brown dropped game-high 29 points while Jayson Tatum dropped 26. For the Pacers, Nembhard was the top scorer with 24 points.
