'Very happy with where I am': Max Verstappen once again speaks about his links to Mercedes

Amid constant speculations about his future at Red Bull, Max Verstappen has once again responded to all such claims and made it clear that he is 'very happy with where' he is. Recently, Mercedes boss Toto Wolff hinted about chasing Verstappen's signature -- after initially denying all such rumours -- as he searches for Lewis Hamilton's replacement, who will join Ferrari from 2025. Moreover, Silver Arrows' driver George Russell also welcomed the idea of having Verstappen at Mercedes.

However, Verstappen told Sky F1, "Well at the end of the day these kinds of decisions are not made very easily and I’m very happy with where I am. I want to be in the fastest car, that’s what I always said with the team. That’s what we have at the moment, and that’s what we try and have also next year."

“I don’t necessarily have the desire to suddenly build up something new or whatever. Because why would you want to leave when you are already in the best position and you think you can continue that for a long time?," he added.

Early this month, Russell had stated, "I would be all for it." He added, "I think coming into Mercedes in 2022 was off the back of Lewis's legendary years and victories, and that was a huge task for anybody jumping into a team where he's been [dominating] for so long. I believe in myself, and you need to go up against the best in the same machinery and show what you've got."

Despite so much noise around his future, Verstappen’s message remains consistent with comments he made before the Miami Grand Prix. Ahead of the last race, the 26-year-old revealed that even sackfuls of cash wouldn’t be able to turn his head in the current F1 climate.
