
The FIFA World Cup trophy has reached to Moscow, Russia after visiting 50 countries and completing a nine-month journey of more than 140,000 km. The journey of the much-coveted trophy was started on September 9 in the Russian capital of Moscow. The trophy traveled across Russian cities and then continued its journey abroad visiting over 50 countries across six continents.
This year's tour is the was the longest ever and it allowed more than 300,000 people to view the coveted 18-carat gold, 36cm-high trophy.
The trophy is usually kept at the FIFA World Football Museum in Zurich.
When it reached to Moscow, the residents got a chance to take a close look at the World Cup trophy on Monday (June 4) in the capital's famous Gorky Park.
The trophy was displayed in a riverside pavilion shaped like a soccer ball. Those who came to the show could also see a spectacular promotional video inside the pavilion and buy World Cup souvenirs. The trophy will be on display until June 7.
Russia will host the 2018 World Cup finals in 12 venues spread across 11 cities, which begins on June 14 when the hosts play Saudi Arabia in Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium.
