India clinched gold medal after defeating team Malaysia 3-1 in mixed-team badminton final at 21st Commonwealth Games on Day 5 in Gold Coast.

Saina Nehwal won the women singles clash against Soniia Cheah on the final day.

In men's single event of mixed-team finals, Kidambi Srikanth won against Malaysia's Chong Lee by 21-17, 21-14.

In the mixed doubles clash, Ashwini Ponnappa and Satwik Rankireddy of India took the match to the decider set and claimed the gold against Malaysia.

Though, Malasia had won the first match in men's doubles, as Satwik-Chirag go down 21-15, 21-19.

The badminton team has been in a magnificent form as they have defeated Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Scotland in the group stages by 5-0 to make it to the quarterfinals.

In the quarterfinals they outplayed Mauritius to enter the semifinals. In the semis, they lost their men’s doubles match but remained strong to defeat Singapore 3-1 to enter the final.

India has bagged ten gold medals so far and a total of nineteen medals.
