Pakistan suspends Samjhauta Express services: Report

Pakistan media reports said on Thursday that the Imran Khan government had suspended Samjhauta Express services with India.
Pakistan had earlier suspended the service in the wake of air strikes by Indian jets at Balakot in February afterthe Pulwama terror attack in which over 40 CRPF personnel were killed.
The service was restarted after Pakistan decided to release Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman who was taken into custody after his fighter aircraft was shot down by Pakistan forces.
The train service was finally started again on March 4 after Wing Commander Abhinandan arrived in India safely asboth countries decided to pushback after the Balakot strikes.
On the Indian side, the train runs from Delhi to Attari and from Lahore to Wagah on the Pakistan side.
The train service was started on July 22, 1976 under the Shimla Agreement that settled the 1971 war between the two nations. It is named after the Hindi word for "agreement", comprises six sleeper coaches and an AC 3-tier coach.
