A man was detained after he threw bangles at textiles minister Smriti Irani while she was addressing a function in Gujarat's Amreli district.
The minister blamed the Congress for the incident, saying,"they sent a man to attack a woman, the Congress strategy is wrong in this respect."
"Elections are due in Gujarat so I expect this kind of incident to take place," she added.

This is not the first time the minister has been embroiled in a controversy, two years ago Irani had alleged she was being illegally filmed in the changing room at a Fab India store in Goa.
The revelation led to the arrest of four people and caused a huge uproar on social media.
