Information and Broadcasting minister Venkaiah Naidu was today picked as BJP-led NDA's Vice-Presidential candidate.
Naidu was picked in a meeting of the BJP parliamentary board attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president AMit Shah.

Venkaiah Naidu will be contesting against Gopalkrishna Gandhi who was jointly picked up by the opposition comprising 18 parties.
The Vice Presidential polls will be held on August 5 after the incumbent Hamid Ansari's term gets over. Ansari served as Vice President for two terms.
BJP is keen on having a Vice President from southern India where it wants to expand its footprint. Venkaiah Naidu comes from the erstwhile state of Andhra Pradesh. He has also served as the BJP president.
