At least 24people were killed and many others injured on Sunday (August 4) as freshclashes erupted in Bangladeshbetween protesters and the ruling Awami League supporters on the outskirts of Dhaka.The South Asian country's government has once again ordered a nationwide internet shutdown, citing the law and order situation. But this time, the initial order is for the shutdown of 4G services.
There has been no decision yet regarding the status of broadband services.
The latest clashes broke out on Sunday morning, when protesters attending a non-cooperation programme to demand PM Hasina's resignation, faced opposition from the supporters of the ruling Awami League, its student affiliate Chhatra League, and Jubo League activists.
"At least two people have been killed and 30 others injured in a clash between protesters and Awami League men in Munshiganj," the Dhaka Tribune newspaper reported.
The newspaper added that several cocktail explosions occurred during the incident. Hundreds of students and professionals gathered at Dhaka's Shahbagh and blocked traffic on all sides.

The protesters, under the banner of the Anti-Discrimination Students Movement, chanted slogans calling for Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's resignation and justice for those killed in the recent violence surrounding the quota reform protests, the Bdnews24 news portal reported.
Bangladesh's Daily Star publication reported that at least 20 people were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital after suffering injuries in clashes between protesters on one side and Awami League and police on the other in different areas.

Despite the limited resumption of train services during the curfew only two days ago, Bangladesh Railway has decided to suspend all types of train operations on Sunday (August 4).
This time, the protesters have outrightly rejected Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's proposal for talks. They have simply announced a one-point demand for the resignation of the government.
