A Taliban-led attack on an Afghan checkpoint killed at least 11, officials noted today. A spokesman reported two other forces wounded in the attack that took place on late Saturday.

According to reports, three insurgents were killed while four others were wounded. The attack, reportedly, targeted members of the Local Uprising Forces, militias supported by the government.

While no one claimed the attack, an Afghan official blamed the attack on the Taliban.

Meanwhile, reports also suggest an insurgent attack on two security checkpoints in the eastern Ghazni province. So far, four policemen are reported killed, five others have been wounded.

Arif Noori, a spokesman for the provincial governor, alleged that Taliban opened fire on the checkpoints targetting reinforcements with a roadside bomb.

The Taliban, who control large parts of the province, claimed the attack.
