In an online video, a group of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) workers can be seen breaking road in front of Mantralaya in Mumbai. The workers were protesting increased numbers of potholes in the city and associated deaths. The incident occurred last night.
The 20-second long video clip shows agitated MNS workers break the road in front of the Mantralaya demanding better, pothole-free roads cross the 'Maximus' city.
MNS workers also vandalised a PWD office in Navi Mumbai over pothole-related deaths in the state. A video showed party workers throwing chairs and other objects in the PWD office.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra PWD minister Chandrakant Patil, who earlier got criticised for claiming that potholes cannot be entirely blamed for accidents, said he didn't mean to hurt anyone's sentiments.
"I did not mean to hurt anyone's sentiments. I had made a general statement," Patil told ANI.
Last week, a man in Maharashtra's Kalyan was crushed to death by a truck after he fell off his scooter that tripped on a pothole.
"Five people have died so far due to potholes in Kalyan. Municipal Corporation will not fill the potholes until an important person dies due to them," ANI quoted a Mumbai resident.
