Ace Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat alleged that the Delhi Police had withdrawn the security of the women wrestlers who are set to testify against former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh in connection with sexual assault case against him in the Delhi Court.
Vinesh Phogat in a post on X, stated, "Delhi Police has withdrawn the security of the women wrestlers who are going to testify against Brij Bhushan in the court."
Phogat further highlighted that the withdrawal of women's security may impact the wrestler's ability to safely appear in court and deliver their testimonies.
However, the Delhi Police issued a statement, clarifying their stance, and stressed that the security has not been withdrawn, adding, "It was decided to request Haryana Police to take over the responsibility in future since the protectees normally reside there."
They further stated that the assigned Delhi Police PSOs misunderstood the decision and got delayed in reporting today, however, the situation has been rectified. "Security cover continues," DCP New Delhi stated.

A Delhi Court on Thursday directed the Delhi Police to immediately make arrangements for women's security, who will be testifying against Brij Bhushan, according to a report in Live Law.
The report added that ACJM Priyanka Rajpoot of Rouse Avenue Courts passed the interim order after three women wrestlers filed an application alleging that the Delhi Police withdrew their security.
When did this begin?
The case began in January last year, when Indian ace wrestler Vinesh along with Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia accused the WFI Chief of sexual exploitation and intimidation, following which the wrestlers started protesting at Jantar Mantar.
They demanded his resignation and called for the dissolution of the WFI.

Following the protests, their complaint to the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) president PT Usha led to the formation of an inquiry committee, highlighting eminent figures like Mary Kom and Yogeshwar Dutt.
However, the WFI has denied all allegations against the chief and the coaches.
