VIDEO: Mamata Banerjee suffers injury after she slips boarding a helicopter

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday(Apr 27) slipped and fell while taking a seat after boarding her helicopter in Durgapur, Paschim Bardhamaninthe eastern state of India.

A video shared bynews agency ANIshowed visuals of Banerjee trying to grab a seat, but she lost her balance.

As per the news agency, the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief reportedly suffered a minor injury and was helped by her security personnel. After the incident, shee continued with her onward travel to Asansol.

Last month, Banerjee suffered amajorhead injuryfollowingwhich shewas hospitalisedafter she slipped and hit her head on a furniture at herhome,shortly after she returned from an event in South Kolkata's Ballygunge.

Shewas admittedat Seth Sukhlal Karnani Memorial Hospital in Kolkata, the capital city of West Bengal. Shewas seencoming out of the hospital premises in a vehicle hours later.

In an official statement, Dr Manimoy Bandopadhyay, who is the director of SSKM Hospital, said: "Chief Minister of West Bengal reported to our hospital today around 07:30 pm with a history of fall within the vicinity of her home due to some push from behind."

Sandeshkhali controversy

In a latest development,TMC has filed a formal complaint with the state's chief electoral officer.The party alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) conspired in the raids during the second phase of the Lok Sabha Election.

CBI on Friday recovered ahugecache of arms and explosives, including foreign-made revolvers, Indian revolvers, foreign-made pistols and ammunition, in Sandeshkhali and called in the NSG bomb squad for their disposal.

TMC also accused the West Bengal Election Commissionof turning a "blind eye" on the actions ofthe central agencies.

In its letter to West BengalChief Electoral Officer, TMC wrote, "In this regard, itis statedthat though 'law and order' is a domain falling completely within the ambit of the State Government, the CBI did not issue an actionable notice to the State Governmentand/orthe police authorities before carrying out such a raid."

"Further, the State Police has a fully functional bomb disposal squadwhichcould have assisted the entireoperation,if the CBI indeed felt that a bomb squadwas requiredduring such a raid," TMC added.
