Hollywood filmmaker Christopher Nolan metactor Kamal Haasan on the first day of his three-day visit to India.

Nolan is accompanied by his wife Emma Thomas along with visual artist Tacita Dean.

Nolan and Dean are here to draw the attention to the importance of celluloid in the digital age. Work, love for cinema and support for the cause of film preservation and restoration has drawn him to India.

Kamal Haasan was surprised that Christopher had seen few of his movies.

Kamal Haasan took to Twitter posting,"Met Mr.Christopher Nolan. Apologised for seeing 'Dunkirk'in the digital format and in return I am sending 'Hey Ram'in digital format for him to see,"

The main event 'Reframing the Future of Film'will be hosted by Indian filmmaker and archivist Shivendra Singh Dungarpur, founder of the Film Heritage Foundation (FHF), from March 30 to April 1.

The Hollywood filmmaker would be seen along with some of the prominent names from the Indian film industry, like Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Kamal Haasan, Shah Rukh Khan, Santosh Sivan, Shyam Benegal, Anurag Kashyap and Farhan Akhtar in a closed-door roundtable discussion.

Nolan will also be screening two of his recent, Oscar-nominated films, 'Dunkirk'and 'Interstellar'.

The Hollywood director is expected to fly back on April 2.
