A devastating fire erupted late Saturday (May 25) atNew Born Baby Care Hospitalin Delhi's Vivek Vihar area, claiming the lives of at least seven newborns, media reports said citing officials.
This tragic incident comes after Rajkot in the state of Gujarat also witnessed a harrowing blaze at a gaming zone on Saturday (May 25) that left at least 27 individuals, including nine children, dead.
In the Delhi fire incident, the report of the blaze reached the capital's fire services at around 11:32 pm. In a swift response by the Delhi Fire Services, 16fire tenders were rushedto the spot to combat the blaze.
Amid the chaos, officials reportedly said that 12 newborns were rescued from the engulfed facility, but tragically, seven succumbed toinjuries while receiving medical care. Currently, six, including a child on a ventilator, are undergoing treatment, reports said.

As per a Fire Officer, Fire was extinguished completely, 11-12 people were rescued and taken to hospital and further details are awaited.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the factors leading to the tragic incident. The rescued babies have been shifted to East Delhi Advance NICU hospital.

Fire officer Rajendra Atwal reportedly said, "At 11:32 pm, Fire Service Control Room received information that fire broke out at a hospital...total 16 fire tenders reached the spot and fire has been extinguished completely. Two buildings were affected by the fire, one is the hospital building and 2 floors of a residential building on the right side also caught fire...11-12 people were rescued and they were taken to hospital."
Reacting to this, PM Modi wrote, "The fire tragedy at a hospital in Delhi is heart-rending. My thoughts are with the bereaved families in this incredibly difficult time. I pray that those injured recover at the earliest."

This unfortunate incident comes amida fire reported in a residential building in Delhi's Shahdara area on the same night.

Five fire brigade vehicles rushed to the scene, facilitating the rescue of 13 individuals who were subsequently transported to a hospital for treatment.
