"Supreme leader's minions are now sending threatening messages to journalists reporting on the #RafaleScam asking them to 'back off or else...'," the Congress President tweeted Monday.

The "supreme leader" and "Mr 56" were references to Prime Minister Modi.

Gandhi has of late been relentless attacking Modi on the Rafale deal.

Gandhi says the deal the previous UPA government had struck with the French government over the Rafale deal was cheaper than the one signed by the NDA regime led by Modi.

The government has said details of the deal cannot be made public because of a secrecy clause, to which the opposition has replied that the secrecy clause safeguards the deal's technical details, not the commercial ones.
