Pilgrims can now see Mount Kailash from inside Indian territory. Here's how

The tourism department of the Indian state of Uttarakhand on Thursday (Oct 3) launched the "Mount Kailash Darshan from Indian Soil"pilgrimage under which the pilgrims can now witness the Mount Kailash from the Old Lipulekh Peak along with Om Parvat in the Pithoragarh district of the state.
The first batch of pilgrims started their pilgrimage on Gandhi Jayanti, October 2 (Wednesday) andwitnessed the majestic Mount Kailash on Thursday, from Old Lipulekh Peak along with Om Parvat, the news agency ANI reported citing the chief minister's office (CMO).
What led to the start of the pilgrimage?
On Friday, the pilgrims would visitAdi Kailash from Gunji Pithoragarh beforereturning to Pithoragarh. The CMO said that the package includeshelicopter tickets from Pithoragarh to Gunji and back with accommodation at KMVN or homestays.

News agency ANI reported that the point fromwhere Mount Kailash is visible was discovered a few months ago by a team of officials from Uttarakhand Tourism, BRO and ITBP.
Following the discovery, necessary preparations were made by the Uttarakhand tourism department to start a packagetour covering the darshan of Mount Kailash, Adi Kailash and Om Parvat all from Indian soil.
CM reacts to start of the pilgrimage
On Thursday, Uttarakhand Chief MinisterPushkar Singh Dhami mentioned that the opening of the darshan of Mount Kailash from Indian soil reflectedthe commitment of the government and congratulated all departments associated with the project.
Chief Minister Dhami added that now Shiva devotees need not wait for their turn to visit the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra and can pay their respects from Indian territory.
