There seems to be no relief for commuters across the country as fuel prices continued to soar for the 15th consecutive day on May 28.
Petrol price per litre in Delhi today morning shot up to Rs 78.27. For Mumbai petrol per litre was registered at Rs 86.08, Rs 80.91 in Kolkata and Rs 81.26 per litre in Chennai.
Diesel prices were recorded at Rs 69.17 per litre in Delhi, Rs 73.64 in Mumbai, Rs 71.72 per litre in Kolkata and Rs 73.03 for a litre in Chennai.
According to reports, petrol price in Delhi crossed Rs 77 per litre for the first time ever on Wednesday while in Mumbai, the petrol price amounted to 1 paise short of Rs 85 per litre.
The spree of hike in petrol and diesel prices were triggered following a peak in the international crude oil rate.
The price rise was primarily caused to the sanctions re-imposed by the US against Iran and Venezuela, two among the handful of oil exporting nations.
