New Delhi, India
With the results of India's 18th Lok Sabha Elections declared on June 4, netizens have come up with hilarious memes on social media platforms such as X. The memes were mostly related to the election results in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, where the BJP experienced a major setback.
The results were in contrast to the expectations that the Ram Temple consecration, which was included in BJP's manifesto last time, was likely to yield. The election results spoke a different story than what many a pundit predicted.

With SP winning 37 seats in UP, netizens called the party leader Akhilesh Yadav as a topper of the class.

Social media users also found humour in the contrast between the exit polls and the actual election results.
Notably, some exit polls predicted over 400 seats for the NDA alliance led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's BJP, something which is not even close to what the results turned out to be.

Bihar politics was not untouched by the memefest, where the BJP-JD(U) alliance won 24 seats out of 40 seats, a major drop from their 2019 performance when the NDA secured 39 seats.
Memes also took an aim at Arvind Kejriwal by humorously depicting him watching the election results from Tihar Jail.
