Former J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday met the state Governor, NN Vohra, in Srinagar. Abdullah told media that he pressed for the Governor's rule during his meeting with the Governor.

"I met Governor. I told him that National conference didn't receive a mandate to form government in 2014 and we don't have themandate in 2018 also. We haven't been approached & we aren't approaching anyone,"Abdullah told media

"I have told Governor that since no party has the mandate to form the government, he will have to impose Governor rule in the state," Abdullah stated.

He also called for fresh polls and noted that the mandate of the people of Jammu and Kashmir will be welcomed.

"We also requested the Governor that Governor rule should not remain imposed for a long time period. After all, people have the right to choose their government. Fresh elections should take place & we will accept the mandate of the people," Abdullah added.

The BJP pulled out of its alliance with the PDP in Jammu and Kashmir earlier today

Kashmir BJP leaders had "all of a sudden" been called for a meeting with BJP President Amit Shah on Tuesday. The announcement that the BJP was pulling out of the alliance was made after the meeting.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti submitted her resignation and called a PDP meeting at 4pm today. She briefed the media at 5pm today stating that the BJP has betrayed the alliance by pulling out.
