"It's relief for us, we are moving towards justice," said the deceased officer's brother.
Meanwhile, the BJP Karnataka president BS Yeddyurappa said yesterday that they would launch a state-wide agitation if George was not removed from the cabinet.
The minister continuing in the government will prevent a fair probe, he added.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah refused to give his reaction on the issue.
Responding to Yeddyurappa's demand for the resignation of George, Siddaramaiah said that an FIR has also been registered against the BJP president and he should also resign.
BS Yeddyurappa is president of Karnataka BJP.
Earlier, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ABC) filed an FIR against Yeddyurappa and union minister Ananth Kumar after the BJP leaders were caught on camera talking about money transaction done by local political leaders to their high command.
KJ George also declined to comment.
