India's top Army commander visits China border along Himachal Pradesh

India's top Army commander visits China border along Himachal Pradesh

India's Lt General RP Singh visited the forward posts on the India-China border alongHimachal Pradesh's Kinnaur district and reviewed operational preparedness of troops on Monday.

Amid the India-China stand-off at Ladakh, the Chinese foreign ministry said the country has agreed not to turn their "differences into disputes and maintain close communication on resolving border issues through diplomatic and military channels."

The Chinese foreign ministry made the statement after both military commanders met along the Line of Actual Control(LAC) in easter Ladakh last weekend.

"China and India agreed to implement the important consensus reached by leaders not to turn differences into disputes, work together to maintain peace and tranquility in border areas, so as to create a favourable atmosphere for stable development of bilateral relations," foreign ministry spokesman Hua Chunying said.

India's Army commander Lt General Harinder Singh had met China's Major General Liu Lin amid escalation of border row between the two nations in the past fortnight.

The Chinese foreign ministry spokesman said the "China and India have the capacity and willingness to properly solve relevant issues through negotiation and consultation."
